Fibromyalgia is really Lyme. There's so much mis-information out there. Many who have treated fibro for decades finally get the Lyme diagnosis... and as soon as they start treating the Lyme many of their decade long symptoms go away. You have cronic lyme, there is no cure for it, only treatment and amelioration, please understand this, you can't say that you had lyme years ago, you still have it ! @robinmosler That is great to know, Robin! Lyrica is the only one of the 3 drugs prescribed for fibro that I haven't tried. I was worried about it making me sleepy though, I don't have as much energy as I would like already. Did it make you tired during the day?
@ameliasnotebook The most vivid hallucination I had was a huge swarm of red flies over the couch in my apartment. I knew they weren't real because my cat Java didn't react to them at all. But I could see them clear as day, it was soo freaky!
I was diagnosed with Fibro when I was 15. I seem to go thru flare-ups of symptoms every few months or even years. About 4 or 5 years ago, I was going thru a cycle that was so bad I took part in a double-blind trial for Cymbalta. They had me on 120 mg/day. Helped at first for my hip + lower back trigger points + achiness. Suddenly my body was on overload + hallucinations started. Eliminating stress helps lots, as does a diet full of veg. Seriously thinking of trying a GF diet. I've read it helps.
@crazyneptunecat haha, of course, a diet full of veggies...ugh, why must I hate vegetables?? Guess I'll have to try and make myself eat more of them! Crazy what Cymbalta can do, isn't it? I tried the gluten free diet for over 90 days but noticed no change whatsoever. I know it seems to help some people though, so it might be worth a try for you!
Get UDI bread!!! And Pamela's chocolate cake is the best. I use it for my birthday every year. :) I have fibro and also I've been gluten free since i was 4! :)
@topdeeni That's a pretty good description of what I feel like on my bad days, definitely! Thankfully I'm not someone who feels that way all the time...I know some people with the illness do. :(

@carlosa507How is your sleep after starting the gluten-free diet? I started a gluten free diet and about 2 to 3 days after starting i began to feel anxiety, no sleep (maybe 3 hrs most), feelings of chocking or shortness of breath, and just exhausted throughout the day. @carlosa507 Wow, that sounds really scary!! I didn't notice any changes, good or bad, by being on the gluten free diet. I tried it for over 90 days and then gave up on it. I hope you are doing better now. :(
I have Lyme disease and have been going through hell. i was bitten in 1999 tested twice and they said I did not have it. Now they just discovered it and I am just having a hard time finding a doctor.
I hate medicine and I do check things out, my doctor however does not check them out....
@iamshebear777 I'm so sorry you're having a tough time finding a doctor. I know there are ways to find ones that specialize in Lyme disease, I hope you're able to find one!!

A lot of Lyme patients that have chronic pain have it because they were not treated properly the first time. Because of the controversy in Lyme disease a lot of people have been under treated in Lyme disease.
@Meddy38 Kristen, it's been years since I was treated for Lyme. Honestly, I'm not really sure it was properly treated, I was just put on antibiotics. It seems like doctors just don't know much about it. Kinda like fibro! I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia by several doctors though, so I'm pretty sure I have it. There are 18 trigger points on the body that are super sore when touched. If you have 11, you have fibro, and I have all 18!
Just started following you - I have to say, you are SO cute (now I sound stalker-ish...)! And I love your voice. Anyway, I wanted to comment because my older sister has fibro as well - and is allergic to wheat, sugar, and who knows what else. She can basically only eat meat, fruit, and vegetables, and she does have to deal with a lot of fibro pain too. Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone (in your fibro or wheat intolerance!) - glad to know you're feeling better now :-)
I can't believe your Cymbalta story that is OUTRAGEOUS! I've had fibromyalgia for a long time so I really sympathize. What works for me is shiatsu on a regular basis, eliminating wheat, sugar (the sugar part I haven't eliminated but am working on) and I just heard that probiotics can really help to reduce swelling in your system, so I'm about to try that. I thoroughly enjoyed your video! Good luck.
@saralatendresse Wow Sarah, thanks for letting me know what works for you! I tried eliminating wheat, but found it had no effect whatsoever so I gave that up. I've been cutting back on sugar. I didn't know that about the probiotics, I'll have to try that! Thanks so much for the tips. :)
Hi! i take cymbalta for severe depression! it sucks!!! i also use to have RA but it magically went away( thank god) anyways not looking forward to the withdrawals when i stop i also take mirtazipine. anyways i started with cymbalta and it also gave me insomnia but the mirtazipine took care of that. anyways if you dont want dry mouth ever again dont smoke weed lol!
Uh, yes it is. Fibro actually has no known cause today. What we do know is that fibro and Lyme have the exact same symptoms. Had I not tested positive for Lyme disease, they would have put me in a fibro category. Many physicians now believe that it is a bacteria that isn't being tested and treated properly that is causing fibromyalgia.
@FatBellii No one knows the cause of fibromyalgia. What they do know is that, in most cases, something harmful and shocking to the body triggers it and makes it manifest. This can be anything from a car accident to an illness. In my case, the doctors believe it was the lyme disease. So no, lyme disease did not cause it. But it most likely triggered it.
You are such a positive person despite everything you have gone through! I have fibromyalgia and numerous allergies, including being a coeliac - have been off wheat, rye, oats, barley and malt for a bit over a year now. I am not 'better' because of my fibromyalgia (!) but have definitely seen improvements and on the odd occasion I have accidentally had wheat I have paid for it! I believe there are links between fibro and allergies/intolerances. Keep trying for now, it may be worth it! :)
@happysad321 Wow Ellie, like fibromyalgia isn't enough! That's awful you have all those other allergies on top of it! I tried the no gluten diet for over 90 days, but noticed no change whatsoever so I gave it up. I hope they figure out what causes fibro soon, I wouldn't be surprised at all if you're right and it has something to do with allergies/intolerances!
Oh gosh Amy, I just saw this. I am praying for you alreadyl even more than I usually do.
I could share many things with you. I have had similiar prob.
Right now, just a couple things, watch out for MSG and artificial sweetners, and don't over do it exerction wise, keep getting plenty of rest very important.
I am so glad you are feeling better and have a ton of fun on your trip.
I know there is such a thing as rice flour in the health food stores but haven't baked with it.
@pbsandcspanwatchit Thank you Connie, for your prayers and your advice!! I tried the no wheat thing for over 90 days, but it didn't work, so now I'm just trying to eat healthier! Been doing much better than I was several months ago. Sorry to hear you've been through similar experiences!
i know this might be the last thing you want to hear from someone but i am sorry to hear about all the things that have happened to you. but i am happy to hear that you are going out more ^_^ i really hope that you live a long and VERY healthy life ;) lol as lame as that sounds from a total stranger ;p hope you keep making great music vids ^_^
@grandmasterking Kenshin, of course that's not the last thing I'd want to hear. In fact, it's pretty nice to hear. :) Thank you so much for the kind comment. I'm doing much better lately! Yay!
@thsbandgeek Oh Charity, Israel was amazing! Really blew me away, I didn't know just how beautiful a country it was. Definitely go sometime if you get the chance!!
@harmonyaddict I would love to go! I am trying to plan a trip over to that side of the world...I think after my student teaching and everything is over in a year and a half I will try to make it!
I understand what you mean about the anti-depressant. I was on it for because of my OCD tendencies which was making my TMJ worse...(oh boy) and because I was...happy before...it actually made me depressed. Then I had Gallbladder problems. They put me on Dilaudid which took all the pain away but made me emotionless and was very addictive. I was on it for a week and it took months of sickness to get off it. They should make better meds. Most of them are worse then the pain. I'm glad your better.
I completely understand having to weight "is the treament/cure worse than the disease". My MS is also constant... but we can manage. :) You're doing great and let us know if there is anything we can do! :)
I'm so glad you're doing better. I feel like doctors just give patients pills to make them go away, without really giving much thought to what it could do to them. And travel safely!
ooh, sprouted whole grain bread would be good for you; it doesn't have any flour whatsoever. we buy silver hill bread, but i'm not sure if you'll have it where you live...<3
Thanks for sharing your story with us. I hope some relief comes your way soon, so you can get back to making more music w/o the aches and pains. :) Safe travels...
My friend Kacie suffers from that. It knocks her out of commission for months at a time. I hope you find something that works for you. have fun in on your trip. ;) Wishing you the best, Steven ;)
:D nice v log ^_^ it sux that u have fibromyalgia... i sort of have this lower back pain that never went away and it's been three yrz.. it totally sux cuz it prevents me from playing hockey or anything fun that i used to do a lot before.. hope allz good! enjoy ur trip
@jussjosh I'm sorry you have that pain in your back! Have you seen a doctor about it? There might be something they can do! Just stay away from any mind-altering drugs, that's my advice at least. ;)
@harmonyaddict yeah... but nobody really could help cuz my lower back only comes in after like hours of sports or what not... so ultimately i'm juss doing lil back exercises i learned from PT ... and if i get insane pain i juss take Oxycodone hehehe (but seriously) XD
Thanks for sharing your story! You will help a lot of people weight the pros and cons, before taking these mind altering drugs! I pray your health continues to get better! :)
My cousin also suffers from celiac's disease (I'm assuming that is what you are talking about when you say you are allergic to wheat), and she's had a lot of luck with spelt bread/flour. It does take a while to get used to the texture, but once you do it's actually quite good.
So your doctor gave you the Savella for your back pain? Where does your back hurt because currently i have a side of my back where im missing a verterbre and the other side is only missing half of it and it is right above my tailbone so it gives me constant back pain and im only 17. Currently im looking for another source of relief other than surgarly repairing it.
@kayiskrazy33 So sorry for just replying to this, Kayleigh! Savella is only for fibromyalgia patients, it was developed just for that illness. But I hope by now you have found some relief for your back pain! :(
OMG! It's nice to know there's someone else who has fibromyalgia and yet you're still REALLY successful. You've given me a ton of hope :) I'm glad you're doing better :)
@millsby1 Aww, thanks Steph. There are many people with fibro who are much more successful than me!! So don't give up! It looks like you are still able to ride horses in spite of fibro, that is awesome!! :)
I"m so sorry to hear about u being sick. And i have a small fear of medicine JUST BECAUSE of the side effects. I just wanted to tell you that massage therapy is good for fibromyalgia.
Amy, I'm sorry to hear about your health problems, but I'm glad that you're doing better. Just hang in there and do the best that you can and things will look brighter.
My Grandmother is the president of the celiac society in canada and has actually written a gulten free cookbook and if you want a copy i'd love to send it to you!
@motoXbabe156 Wow, that is so amazingly generous of you! I actually tried the gluten free diet for over 90 days and it didn't help me at all so I gave it up. But that is so, so nice of you to offer!! I really appreciate that. Thanks!! :)
@kbvip Kailey, so sorry you have fibro too! It seems to be getting a lot more awareness lately. About time, right?? Hopefully they'll figure out what causes it and find a cure someday soon!
I'm so sorry to hear about all of this! I hate hearing you were sick! D:
But, my friend's little brother is allergic to wheat and/or gluten, so I could get you a lot of different name brands of diffrerent stuff, long story short, I was hiding(we were playing hide and seek, becasue were that mature :P) and i hid in the pantry, and there were lots of wheat free things in there, even cake mix, yay. :DD
@bigt4life Thomas, that is so nice of you! I tried the wheat free diet for over 90 days, but it didn't help at all, so I gave it up! Sooo glad to have wheat back, lol. But thank you for thinking of me!!
@harmonyaddict aww, I'm sorry! Well I'll still keep you in my prayers. Since you're back on wheat, I suggest Nutella on Arnold Dutch wheat bread. :) lol.
I'm sorry to hear about all this happening to you Amy..
I actually know what you mean with the anti depressants.. I actually suffer from chronic migranes and the only medication that helped contained some form of an anti depressant..
Well eventually i decided to stop the medication and it's amazing how pointless everything in life became lol It wasn't pretty!!
Anti depressants actually create an artificial depression withdrawal effect.. They're bad!!
@FroMHe11 I agree Matt, I would never ever go on an anti-depressant again! I know some people need them, but I don't think anyone should try them unless it's absolutely necessary! Hope your migraines are better now!
that sounded really bad. so glad you feel better ... try getting to germany again soon that we can sing together !!!
Was the pic at 2:29 really real ?!? I mean without effects? Reminds me of an allergic shock i once had on penicillin ... but mine wasn't as bad as yours!
@FabTheGap haha, that picture was from a zombie photo shoot and I was made up to look that way. There was a lot of makeup on me, I was supposed to look, well, dead. :) Ohh, and I'm going to Germany for Christmas this year! Will be in Frankfurt again though, I know that's far away from you. :(
Yea my mom has fibromyalgia, I am sorry to hear that you have it. I understand that it is quite painful. I'll try to find out what she is taking and tell you if she thinks it works or not. I just friended you on facebook so I could just send you a message through that. Thank you for sharing this. Best of luck to you and keep up the amazing videos! =)
This is what I should've heard from you when we hung out last month. Me and my big mouth :(
and What the crap's wrong with doctors! If it made you sick the first time she should've given you Cymalta. And if you're not depressed they shouldn't have given you a stimulant. Also, I personally think physical therapy's a HUGE waste of money. They just guess the whole time while there are specialists that are more knowlegeable of our specific problems.
@stareyez86 I've thought about trying Lyrica, it's the only one of the prescribed meds for fibro I haven't tried. I'm mainly worried about my energy level though, I've heard Lyrica saps energy and I have too much to do to lose any energy!
God, NO WONDER!!!!! I was so wondering what was going on with you. Now I know. Thank you so much for letting us know. Good MOVE! Check your email. I need to ask a favor of you. Marius Mark
Hi Amy, I am glad you are feeling better. Thank you for sharing.
About not beeing able to find the 'good' bread, think about making your own in a breadmachine. That way you can use the right ingredients and avoid the bad ones. Just a thought....
Looking forward for new vids. Maybe a request.... Gravity by Sara Bareilles
@00Beowulf00 I'm happy to say I'm back on wheat! I gave it a good ol' 90 day try, but it didn't change a thing, so goodbye diet! ;) That would have been a great idea though, a bread machine! Thanks for the comment. :) Oh, and I've done Gravity, if you look through my videos you should see it!! I love that song. :)
You are bright sooo sweet and it's great that you are taking charge of your situation and doing what is best for you! Just being happy and doing what's best for you can sometimes be better than any medication. Way to tough it out. I adore your videos and your personality. Enjoy your trip, enjoy life and keep posting vids, we love them!
You have an adorable personality Amy, I think you're beautiful... Some times doctors can be more of a problem then the ailment it's self. We have got to find a way for you to eat chocolate cake again, that's just to cruel :) I pray you overcome all that hurts you. 5***** for you beautiful lady.
@safeharbor7 I'm back on wheat, which means I can have chocolate cake again, yay! I tried the wheat free diet for over 90 days and noticed no difference whatsoever. At least I can say I gave it a good try! Thank you for the sweet comment. :)
Glad to know you're off the meds, maybe Hatha Yoga can help you ;) there's a book from the main teacher of that kind of Yoga, Light On Yoga, by Yengar.
The breathing and the asanas have always helped me strengthening my back and giving a whole new kind of health to my entire system=)
Though it may seem like I'm advertising, just check it out yourself and see if it can be any good to you.
@innerpeace1979 I've wondered about yoga before! I've tried pilates in the past, but a lot of the exercises are too hard on my back. Never tried yoga!
I am sorry to hear that you are sick did you try any home remedy like vinegar garlic and honey . put apple cider vinegar garlicand honey together mix with water in three separate bottle guarteed to knock out pain and cure you of anything in three days look up homr remedy for aple cider vinegar garlic and honey . Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone (in your fibro or wheat intolerance!) - glad to know you're feeling better now :-)

@mercenaryfifer Thank you so much for commenting, it IS good to know I'm not alone. :)

Hey sister,
I can't believe your Cymbalta story that is OUTRAGEOUS! Good luck.
saralatendresse 1 year ago
@saralatendresse Wow Sarah, thanks for letting me know what works for you! I tried eliminating wheat, but found it had no effect whatsoever so I gave that up. I've been cutting back on sugar. I didn't know that about the probiotics, I'll have to try that! Thanks so much for the tips. :)

fibro's not caused from lyme disease.
FatBellii 2 years ago
@FatBellii like u kn
1245mitch 1 year ago
@FatBellii
Meddy38 1 year ago
@FatBellii No one knows the cause of fibromyalgia. What they do know is that, in most cases, something harmful and shocking to the body triggers it and makes it manifest. This can be anything from a car accident to an illness. In my case, the doctors believe it was the lyme disease. So no, lyme disease did not cause it. But it most likely triggered it.
harmonyaddict 1 year ago
You are such a positive person despite everything you have gone through! I have fibromyalgia and numerous allergies, including being a coeliac - have been off wheat, rye, oats, barley and malt for a bit over a year now. I am not 'better' because of my fibromyalgia (!) but have definitely seen improvements and on the odd occasion I have accidentally had wheat I have paid for it! I believe there are links between fibro and allergies/intolerances. Keep trying for now, it may be worth it! :)
happysad321 2 years ago

Currently im looking for another source of relief other than surgarly repairing it.
Thanks, have a nice day. PS your super pretty :)

They're bad!!
hope you get well soon
Take care!
