I've got many clubmaking books, never once saw anything about filling the hosel. I've never had a problem with coating the shaft liberally then turning it inside the hosel. It seems you waste much epoxy that way. I just put a set of irons together using the amount of epoxy you used for one club.
Connon, It isn't necessary to fill the hosel of the of the club head with epoxy. In fact it is detrimental to the shaft. A hollow shaft is stronger than a solid shaft . I lightly coat the inside of the hosel with epoxy and lightly coat the exterior of the shaft tip with epoxy and have never had a shaft fail at the hosel using that method, bnor have I ever had a shaft come loose. Mike
@JPBill2 very true. just wanted to add that the extra epoxy will create a tip plug inside the shaft, which might actually create a stress point that may compromise the shaft down the road.
Great video! I do have two questions. You mentioned drilling the new shaft. Was there already a hole and you cleaned it out or did you make a new hole. Also, I didn't see the new ferrule being set in place. Is it already in place and seats when you install the new shaft or do you have to set it in place? Thanks :o)
Thank you, very informative!

I enjoy your videos...but do you have a video showing "how to lengthen a golf club"?
SamHollyBand 1 year ago
@SamHollyBand buy a longer shaft and do what he did in this video

@SamHollyBand Don't buy longer shaft lol. Take the grip off, use a shaft extender in the butt, put a new grip on.
