@73129Dude Thanks for the comment, I am afraid unless you visit the northern extension this year whilst they are finishing it you will never get a chance to see diesels running as the policy is all public services are steam hauled. However I am sure there will be plenty of diesel railtours or steam/diesel top and tail ones when the extension is finished so maybe you will be lucky then!
@alts1985 No problem, It would be nice however, I would really like to have the Hastings Thumper on a tour on the line, but thats a bit of a pipe dream at present really.
@73129Dude The Hastings Unit came down on a charter in November 2010, one of my videos shows it running the shuttles to the tip and back so maybe when connected a through tour might be on the cards!
@SouthernRailwayDave I can see your point but I assume the choice as diesel must of been worked out on a value for money aspect, the costs for steam up there would of been far higher although may well of raised more money in revenue. Certainly there were plenty of people about for the opening weekends and they must have raised quite abit of money for the ultimate goal! I like you am just a member and can't wait for the first steam train to arrive!

Interesting to note that although 3417's traction motors were working through the class 73, all of the EMU's shoegear and beams have been removed thus rendering her incapable of moving under her own power directly from the 3rd Rail on her own!
@metadyneman all that equipment is stored inside the guards compartment I think! It was to keep it safe from damage whilst it is on the Bluebell I believe.
nice to see that the Bluebell have discovered Diesel. If they actually had a diesel fleet I would visit there. nice video

Sad irony that the first train over the Northern extension was diesel hauled!

@metadyneman 3417 wouldn't have been taking any power from the Class 73, mate.
