Just to be accurate, there are no Agcats in this video, Turbine Thrushs,Airtractors & a Cessna. The assembly is a JARBA Boom spray (Jones Air Rotating Boom Assemby - JARBA) made by JonesAir at St. George in SE Qld, Australia.
actually its called variable rate spray technology. its been on the market for a few years now. thats what i work on in school. its GPS guided so it turns the sprayers on and off only in the parts of the feild that is needed instead of praying the whole entire field and wasting all that money
it rotates boom in relation to airspeed only. you set what droplet size you want ie 200 microns then farmscan tracks airspeed and adjust angle to get correct wind shear on nozzle to produce selected droplet. flow rate gal / acre is controlled by farmscan reading gps ground speed. both can be changed in flight if want change off droplet for drift control etc or increase decrease in application rate by just keying in new requirements. very easy to use. where are you ,do fly ag planes
oh ok, thanks for the reply. Im a student in ND, in the summer I work for an air/ground spraying business, but I dont fly. The planes used where I work are a 600 cat and a walters 401 AT. My boss is also building a -20
the company that made the spray system did a video of the system working on there aircraft . i put it on u tube so my mates in canada could see the system operating in flight. its been on our ag cat now for 3 seasons. when do you start your season and what will you be spraying. regards dave vick
great system can change droplet size while spray paddock , flow rate can be changed in flight its very easy to use great system.
where are you based in the states, i was in oklahoma catching up with a friend who is an ag pilot there. i was on my way up to canada to fly dromeder in sk . love going up there to work
im am flying it in tasmania in australia. we are flat out spraying potatoes at the moment. sooner be out in boat diving for lobstar. more fun. been flying ag to long. where are you callinfg from
Why does the boom momentarily cut off spraying from the outer nozzles?
How is the spray cut of to the nozzles on the outside?
Great vid! Thanks for uploading it!

That looks like a great spray. You can really see the difference in spray volume with the two flying side by side. Thanks for posting.

what is the advantage of the rotating boom? Does it just move the nozzles to a different position to change droplet size (or rate)?

we use Cp nozzles on our Ag cats

interesting concept. I fly a turbine Agcat in the U.s. I use flat fans.
