One of my favorite mezzo/tenor duets together with 'Ecco le trombe' from 'Tancredi'. When people get surprised about why Romeo is sung by a mezzo, I have them listen this and 'La tremenda ultrice spada'.
Octavio Arevalo is excellent as Tebaldo, though I like Ramon Vargas' version better.
Good call! Especially when Kasarova is the 'trouser role'. She's just so convincing. :o) And even more so in 'live' performances than on the studio recording, I think.
I love this air-check from Dresden to death, even when ending tempo suddenly goes draggy. Happy 2008!
They are both terrific. I had not heard this tenor (Arevalo) before. What a beautiful voice.
