He shows no fear or concern that his opponent is stronger then him, which would imply that his opponent isn't in fact stronger then him, which is what the blonde guy gets scared of. In that one single fight it is implied that Hisagi is at the level of a captain, but there is little else to support that implication.

@greenlightpagan there is a similar weapon used by samurai, it has the pretty much same shape only it's a lot smaller... but the concept is/was the same, so i suppose shuuhei's shikai was based on that :)

@greenlightpagan sorry to disappoint you, but ikkaku's bankai is all fiction (but his shikai is 100% authentic, if that comforts you :))

Ikkaku's bankai may have been designed to be slightly reminiscent of a zanbato (big ass sword theoretically used to kill a horse and rider in one shot), but even that's kinda pushing it. It's easier to just say it's totally fictional.

The anime didn't do his manga fight justice. The high pressure water just suddenly came at him in a bunch of zigzags he couldn't hope to avoid, so he released and sliced every single one down the middle. Also, Findor runs a lot more here.  Hisagi missed much less.

Vice captains don't have bankai it's not a requirement. The requirement is at least shikai. So maybe they bring it a bit rude but you are indeed wrong.

When Hisagi said that he hates the way Kazeshini is shaped and it is meant to end lives, Hisagi was being sarcastic. As for the side-story in Bleach, Kazeshini was mind-controlled by Muramasa, just like other Zanpakutous.
