This election is over. In Indianapolis, 30,000 more people are registered to vote than are elible to. Florida all of the sudden has a Democrat majority in voters, not by a small amount, but 600,000 this year. Election fraud lawsuits in 8 states and nothing be done about it? One already plead guilty. Not when most states don't require positive ID at the polling place. You just recite a name and an address, and if you match the rolls they give you a ballot. In all the states with laws like this you can vote an unlimited number given that you don't draw too much attention to yourself.

The first arrest has been made for voter fraud in this election: Mark Jacoby fraudulently used a childhood address to register in California so that he could meet that state's residence requirement for signature gatherers. Mark Jacoby is, of course, a Republican. He is alleged to have been hired by the California Republican party to illegally change voters' party affiliation to Republican. The victims were told that they were signing a petition for tougher penalties for child molesters.

ACORN fired them and turned the forms over to the authorities as required by law. These registrations won't have any impact on the election. No one is allowed to vote unless they are properly registered.

I absolutely agree that every citizen should be allowed only one vote. I have never heard anyone argue against that. The person I was responding to said Obama can't win without fraudulent votes which I find kind of ridiculous considering the poll numbers. False registration, however, is not an issue unless the false registration results in an illegitimate vote. Since the bulk of the outrage focuses on registration it appears to me to be misleading.

If you do what is called over sampling and for those people who dont know what that is over sampling essentially means you call more democrats than republicans in order to skew the results of the poll. Voter fraud is way overblown as an actual threat. There are very few cases of actual prosecution for voter fraud, despite intense pressure being brought on DA's and USA's to prosecute. The fact is that "voter fraud" is itself a fraud, because, as we saw in the USA firing scandal, these cases are brought first and foremost in order to suppress voter turnout, which most often works in the Republican party's favor. This new registration buzz is simply fuel to fire more baseless vote suppression.
That's reassuring. I'm sure that American's are so frustrated with Bush that voting has become a priority. There was record turnout for the primaries and I'm sure there will be record turnout in November. I honestly think Americans are going to hit their stride in terms of getting involved in politics. This election is over. In Indianapolis, 30,000 more people are registered to vote than are elible to. Florida all of the sudden has a Democrat majority in voters, not by a small amount, but 600,000 this year. Election fraud lawsuits in 8 states and nothing be done about it? One already plead guilty. They're signing up people to vote up to 200 times apiece and nothing being done.
This election is over. Bought and paid with your money. Hope the soup line will be good enough for you.

ACORN's 'dispicable' (you spelt it wrong) attempts to get poor people and minorities to vote are rightly feared by the GOP who have a recent history of vote suppression and on a lesser scale, voter fraud.
There is no fraud being committed - the cards with fake names on are simply useless. It's not like ACORN are registering real votes under fake names.

Not when most states don't require positive ID at the polling place. You just recite a name and an address, and if you match the rolls they give you a ballot. In all the states with laws like this you can vote an unlimited number given that you don't draw too much attention to yourself.

explain where acorn is committing fraud here then. if irregular cards get past the board of elections then the real people still have to turn up and vote. if they're a first time voter, so they've been registered by acorn, then they will usually need some id.

The first arrest has been made for voter fraud in this election: Mark Jacoby fraudulently used a childhood address to register in California so that he could meet that state's residence requirement for signature gatherers. Mark Jacoby is, of course, a Republican. He is alleged to have been hired by the California Republican party to illegally change voters' party affiliation to Republican. The victims were told that they were signing a petition for tougher penalties for child molesters.

They paid people on commission to register new voters and didn't think they needed to supervise them. However, the workers were lazy and just made up names and registered them to collect the commission.
ACORN was required by law to submit all registrations, even the ones they flagged as questionable.
Those fake voters can't actually vote, stupid.

And very few bad registrations lead to bad voters. This is a totally fake issue, and Republicans have a very old history of bringing stuff like this up in October. He served as general counsel for ACORN in Illinois, channeled millions to the organization from the Chicago Annenberg Challenge with Bill Ayers (whose funds he distributed), and has lately spent $800,000 of his campaign money to subsidize the groups activities..

The only fraud committed was against ACORN itself. ACORN hired workers to register and a few of them turned in registration forms with inaccurate and even made-up names to get credit for work they didn't do. ACORN fired them and turned the forms over to the authorities as required by law. These registrations won't have any impact on the election. No one is allowed to vote unless they are properly registered.
But Republicans will use this to challenge the ballot count. Deja Vu.

If enough precincts are questionable then polling for the county can be discarded, and then opposition voices are silenced. Not to mention, candidates have won elections while being behind in the polls as much as 15 points on the even of election day. Here's the deal on ACORN...they hire young kids to go out and register voters, and these kids get paid FOR EVERY registration they sigh-up, sooo, in order to make some money without doing the leg-work of actually registering folks (we call it lazy in my neck of the woods) they make up names. No one's going to get to vote because they're really isn't anyone TO vote. Now say your prayers and go to bed.

I absolutely agree that every citizen should be allowed only one vote. I have never heard anyone argue against that. The person I was responding to said Obama can't win without fraudulent votes which I find kind of ridiculous considering the poll numbers. False registration, however, is not an issue unless the false registration results in an illegitimate vote. Since the bulk of the outrage focuses on registration it appears to me to be misleading.

If you do what is called over sampling and for those people who dont know what that is over sampling essentially means you call more democrats than republicans in order to skew the results of the poll. I wish the doubters would consider this, having one Daffy Duck or Mickey on the ballet is cause for Obama to protest the votes in the county and clog up the election process. If enough precincts are questionable then polling for the county can be discarded, and then opposition voices are silenced. Silence the opposition is not what democracy ia about, but it does apppear that it is what Obama is about.

Voter fraud is way overblown as an actual threat. There are very few cases of actual prosecution for voter fraud, despite intense pressure being brought on DA's and USA's to prosecute. The fact is that "voter fraud" is itself a fraud, because, as we saw in the USA firing scandal, these cases are brought first and foremost in order to suppress voter turnout, which most often works in the Republican party's favor. This new registration buzz is simply fuel to fire more baseless vote suppression.

That's reassuring. I'm sure that American's are so frustrated with Bush that voting has become a priority. There was record turnout for the primaries and I'm sure there will be record turnout in November. I honestly think Americans are going to hit their stride in terms of getting involved in politics. I kind of like Ron Paul myself even though I haven't really had a chance to look at him in depth due to the "my team is better than yours" type of politics we get with the two party system. BUT, these guys would still have to show up with a gov't issued id in order to vote. You have to trust the people working at the poll.
