I had a 61 bug for my first car , I brought it home in 3 truck loads , and drove it up til 1986, being air cooled, most of them leaked oil where the engine case would split , fortunately I lived by a VW bone yard , and a mechanic that put it together so well it didn't leak a drop. Having the engine over the rear wheels, there was not too many places I could not go. I would like to get another , like a 49 split rear window to refurbish. Bugs were fun. The VW "Thing" was another fun car.

Rims flat blk w/rustcaps In the glove-box was a beer-tap strung to a 1/4er-keg in ice in the trunk... Party Bug.
... god do i miss that 1st car of mine- a beat-to-shit '63 v-dub which took a near complete engine rebuild to get 'er rollin'. her interior re-design displayed a complete gold&mahogany in/outdoor carpet-job from back to front and ceiling to floor. The centerpiece was the shift console blt from 3/4" marine plywood, Hurst shifter,leather boot w/chrome. that fan is like an ac unit. it clips onto the car and air goes into from the front and it gets recycled and cleaned and then it gets blown into the car with fans the faster you are traveling the faster the air gets into the car, and it is controlled from the inside

@GR8TM4N look out for rusty floor pans but you can repllace them. and watch out for a 67 because its the one year the parts dont mix and match.

what i meant to say is that the beetle was desined during the time when hitler was in power as a car for his people and they also built the autobond so they could move trucks and tanks ,, didn,t mean anything bad about the beetle ,, i like the beetle

VW Bugs are one of my favorite cars. Hopefully when I'm older, wiser, and have a lot of money, I will have a Bug sitting next to my Ferrari Enzo...LOL!
