wow! My service dog can call 911 too. But he uses one of those phones with the large button. So, he just pushes it. It goes to the service who knows that if my phone is ever activated, it's because the dog called it because I am suicidal. But THIS dog, actually using a regular phone to call? That is pretty amazing!

this is just..amazing. i wish i had a dog like that. dogs are a gift,i don't see how anybody could disrespect a dog. my first dog i ever had,i was just a baby..we had to get him put down. we got another dog i was just about 2 or 3 we had to send her to a farm..we still have pictures i haven't seen her ever since we sent her to another home.i was crying and begging and how would i love to see her again...they were both big dogs now we have a small one named daisy. we can't get another after this1

In Australia, this wouldn't work. First you have to mess around with a call centre operator who asks if u want police, fire or ambulance (silence or barking & they hang up), then u have to wait to be put through, then u have to know the address of where you are (I was amazed when I didn't know the street I was calling from one day, they said they COULDNT trace the call), then explain the emergency. Hopefully the person u are trying to save doesn't die during the time or you don't get murdered.

@EGON65 Yeah, it sure is! I got such a shock when I called 000 and couldn't say where I was and they said they couldn't trace the call. My partner could have died! I had to try to lift him (I'm a woman, he's a man) into a car to drive up the road to find a street sign so I could say where I was. Maybe if it was a land line they could trace it, but they said they couldn't trace my mobile. Maybe I watch too much US TV but I thought they could find you if you called them. Stupid, huh?

@EGON65 Australia is definitely advanced enough to utilise a similar system to America. Most people here think we already do. I have actually tested what happens if you call 000 and don't speak. No one came or even called me back. I'm pretty sure they are meant to call you back if you hang up on them but... didn't happen. I think they probably use the basic telephone caller ID, which means if you have a private number you'll be left to die if you can't speak.

Dogs are very helpful. I have trained my dog to find her leash; my keys.

when we go shoppingt, she invariably is in the driver's seat when i return. I have no doubt she could drive home if her paws could grasp the wheel. She's certainly sharp enough. :)

@Alaina1190 Well I take seizures, quite often when I have a seizure its like my body takes over, almost like sleepwalking. I was doing dishes and turned around and put my head in the dishwater. Luckily my mother was there. I wouldn't want to have a pool in my backyard in case I walked into it and drowned. Certainly not go swimming alone... obviously he isn't living with anyone but his dog. Would he be dead by the paramedics arrived?

My german shepard is truely amazing. Once he came to me barking running in and out of the house so i followed him and he took me to my cousin that was laying on the floor unconscious. He kept barking and tapping him with his pour trying to wake him up. At the end we got my cousin some help and he was okay. If it wouldn't have been for my dog it would have taken us much longer to figure out my cousin had fainted.

I think that had to be the highlight of those dispatchers day, most of it must be fairly stupid (I ordered a Wopper and got a Big Mac!) and scary but I think that would have put a smile on the faces of a few.

Funny I've heard 911 calls &they interogate the SHIT out of the poor person who is about 2be killed in their home before they send someone out. Even saw one lady call the police ahead of time,while a stalker followed her(driving)2the precint,where he shot her dead,the police were 2stupid.

It is sick that a dog or any animal gets treated better than people.

The vet is there at 3am &will fix them up. But a human will have 2wait for hours &/or come back another day/month 2get medical treatment!
