For common cigar usage, I wouldn't tap off the ash. I've heard in many places its rather uncouth. That being said, if it's inside my place, I'd probably appreciate them tapping it off every now and then to avoid the mess.

Yeah but even without inhaling you can increase your risk of tongue/mouth cancer by alot occasional use increases your risk more than no use, but that doesn't mean I won't smoke cigars because they are just too good to resist.

@Noahthebeast09 Actually, it is bad for you, aspirating anything into your lungs isn't good for you at all. Granted, it's not as bad for you as say a cigarette (Not to my knowledge at least), but it still does damage.
But honestly, if you think about it. What ISN'T bad for you these days?

@ilov3tacos It isn't just the inhalation that causes damage, the act of holding smoke in your mouth causes tissue damage, discoloured teeth and mouth cancer. According to recent studies 5.4 MILLION people are killed by smoking every year, and by 2015 that number is set to rise to 6.5 million people. You can find all relevant information in any decent medical practise in the world. Or on the internet, for that matter.
Please do some research.

@ilov3tacos Smoking cigars rarely ever leads to lung cancer but cancer of the mouth and throat are even more common in cigar smokers than in cigarette smokers. The nicotine enters the bloodstream directly through the walls of the mouth and tongue, the same way it does with chewing tobacco. I smoke cigars, so don't take me as someone looking down on you but there really are millions of tobacco related deaths each year. Please don't tell someone to do their research when you aren't willing to.

You don't want to use a Zippo or similar lighter due to the lighter fluid, a butane gas lighter is fine (and many say preferred even over matches). If you do use matches, do NOT use the paper matches, wood only (and it will take 2-4 matches to properly light a cigar- 1-2 cigar matches, 3-4 regular size matches).

I don't use them anymore I quit, I got hooked. I don't want to ban cigars or to stop u from smoking them but my advice is to not smoke any tobacco products they are all very bad for ur health I feel a lot better now that Ive quit.

That's a very wise decision man. Yeah they tasted pretty good and they gave me a good buzz at first but I kept on smoking more and more and it really took it's toll on me financially and healthwise, the negatives definently outweigh the positives.

@SkwerlBergamot Quality cigars are fermented for many years, grown free of pesticides and not dried on diesel burn metal disks (like cigarettes; therefore lead, arsenic etc.). Lung cancer of Cigar smoking is impossible, oral cancer is still a problem but even so - oral cancer is much much much less common then lung cancer.
Tobacco is dangerous, yes - BUT like anything else; it's a big difference between HOW you use it and WHAT kind of product you use. Occasional cigar is not that bad.
