To all regarding slam firing. This is caused by a sticky firing pin usually in an sks when you release the slide to chamber the first round the pin strikes the primer and the gun goes rapid fire

Then there are the myriad weapons that by design fire from an open bolt, i.e., slam fire. Most sub machine guns like the Thompson, Sten, M-3, VZ-61,and heavier machine guns like the M-60, M-2, MG-38-42/M-5 family, RPK, all slam fire designs.

@Sabertoothpython You are thinking of Slam Firing. Bump firing is when you use the rifle's recoil to pull the trigger. This results in a high rate of fire. Slam fire is when you slam the slide foward, somehow firing another round. (maybe because of a free floating firing pin? IDK)

@mrcdpenguins That will only work with a few models of pump shotguns. The model 37 Ithaca, Model 17 Remington and Browning BPS if memory serves. Mossberg, Winchester. Remington 870 and the like have to have the trigger released before firing the next round as they use a disconnector. Slam firing is most associated with sub machine guns that fire from an open bolt like the Thompson, M-3 Grease gun, Mac 10, and the like.

I have Ithaca 37's made form the 30's to the late 80's and they will all slam fire if the trigger is held back. Forgot about the old 97's, yup they do it to. Ithaca 37's do tend to recoil a bit harder due to their comparative lighter weight. The Chi-Com 97 copies are pretty well made,but they are good at copying stuff. Most of the counterfeit stuff on the market comes form China

It has a semi safety lever, no disco spring, semi sear, no rate reducer or spring, and a G-3 single hook trigger. All the civilian market AK's are parts been guns. I build them all the time from matching number parts kits. Which thanks to the ATF are getting hard to get now.

@TheDarthjango no, not really. If that's an AK-74 like appears to be, then its ballistics are very similar to 5.56 NATO. The original 7.62x39 ("AK-47 round") does kick a bit more, and has slightly more limited reach.

But the biggest reason is the open-style rear-sights of AK's. They work similar to the generic pistol sights, so you just line the front-sight between rear sights. The short distance between rear & front sights also reduce precision. Finnish RK-62 has better sights & thus accuracy.

Not because they are expensive to make, but they are rare. This ak, like most in the us, are semi-auto (1 trigger pull, 1 round shot). These are the most practical to buy.
