as you are most likely aware, the Jesse Yates case did not recieve nearly the amount of media coverage after the Matt Shepard case... As it is, i live in Northwest Arkansas, 30 miles from where Jesse was murdered. regardless of the amount of media attention it received, i am very saddened by the loss of this boy, if anything, it hits me harder, knowing that this kind of violence is happening closer to my home.
I had been having writers block for a while and I had never heard of this tragedy before. I am gay and gay fiction is my genre. After learning so much of Matthew I have been able to continue to write. Matthew is my muse. When or if i get my first gay romance novel published I will dedicate it to Matthew Shepard. He officially died early on Monday, 12 October (Canadian Thanksgiving and Columbus Day). I usually refer to it as the day Matt discovered a new world -- one of love, peace, and acceptance. His 32nd birthday was on Monday (1 December), also Worldwide AIDS Day. One of these days I'll again try to draw Matt as he'd look now. I last did it in 2001.

That depends on what your definition of killed is. Matt was mortally beaten just past midnight on Wednesday, 7 October 1998. He officially died early on Monday, 12 October (Canadian Thanksgiving and Columbus Day). I usually refer to it as the day Matt discovered a new world -- one of love, peace, and acceptance. His 32nd birthday was on Monday (1 December), also Worldwide AIDS Day. One of these days I'll again try to draw Matt as he'd look now. I last did it in 2001.

Such a beautiful guy who didn't deserve what happened. He suffered enough that night and the God I know wouldn't allow him to suffer further.
I know he is with God now. A piece of me died the day Matthew died, & I still cry sometimes to this day when I think about what happened that night. Rest with God beautiful Matthew. I hope to see the Matthew Shepherd Act pass, and I hope I get to meet him in person someday...

Many of them have already come out of the closet after oppressing their true feelings for their sexual nature. They had to choose between an oppressed but successful life as politician, or a happy free life with a lower salary but still be successful.
