  • Yeah I'm an organ donor.

But I also need an organ.

  • I'm 14 and I want to be on the organ donor list. I'm not sure if my parents will support me but my view is that you aren't going to need them when you die anyway so someone that has a chance of living can have them.

  • Yes, i'm an organ donor, you just reminded me, i'd forgotten about it, until this video. Thanks:)

  • I'm an organ donor as well and have been since I was 16. You rock and I agree that more people should be. :) Might as well save a few lives if I'm not gonna use the stuff. Organ donors rock!!! :)

  • My thought is that I can't take it with me. Someone else might as well use it !

    Way to go donor's !!!

  • I became an organ donor in the 1960's.

    Moomay

  • I think the fear is trusting the doctors where if your in a car crash, all they will see is that your an organ donor and think about all the organs that he could use to save other people instead of trying to save you! ...maybe i just have trust issues in general :P :)

  • To harvest your organs, your have to have TWO tests that show you are brain dead. So, if they take your organs, you would have been pronounced dead, twice.

Your family can request a third party (one not related to the hospital you are in) to also pronounce you dead.

I look at it this way, I'm POSITIVE I'll not be buried alive by mistake!

  • (my response was to iiswansongii)

  • Don't forget we need to donate things while we are alive. You can donate your bone marrow and your blood. :)

  • Show me the money!

  • luvbeags, bone marrow?but you know that you need te be sended to sleep to donate your marrow?who would do this for free?there is allways the risk of the narkose.;)and also donating blood can be dangerous if a rookie (i was a donator and know what i´m talking about) hit´s you vene wrong.

  • xForeverMinex, You can stay awake if you want for bone marrow aspiration. Feels like a root canal on your leg, but you can stay awake if you want. Trust me, I've had many blood draws, probably more than the average person. If someone "hits my vein wrong" the worst that can happen is I get a hematoma, which goes away in a few weeks.

Can you put a price on a life? My life is not less valuable than anyone elses, but who am I to judge I deserve to live more than someone else?

  • well, for me this is way to much.blood or blood plasma is one thing, but bone marrow is to much for me.i donatet between 2000 and 2006 38times a year bloodplasma and i had some hematomas.and sometimes when a rookie wantet to put the needle in the vein, it i refused because of the risk.i´ve seen some reports om tv. that it can be went bad because of the nerves around this area.

  • xForeverMinex What is NARKOSE anyway???

  • no, i can´t put a price on a life.but i also think, that i don´t need to do these things if i don´t want them, or?narkose is this what you get to sleep while having a surgery in a hospital.i´m sorry, my english isn´t so good.

  • FAR OUT LEMONETTE! HOORAY for people like YOU!

  • I'm a Organ Donor :) I figure if I'm gone why not save someone and donate my organs,skin...etc...:)

    Stay safe,

    Leslie~

  • Organ Donor in the House! lol.... Its a good way to give back even when you're dead n gone....

  • I certinaly am - Proud organ donor

  • If somebody--can use my body---after me--well cool!!:) Hurry up and get that computer cranked up grl!! Miss ya!~

  • i am an organ donor..and i am also on the register for people who need bone marrow transplants..all you gotta do is give a blood sample..sadly the lil boy who inspired me to join died several years later, they did not find a match for him..but his family are still raising money for awareness of childhood leukemia..they are just amazing..you have the power to change peoples lives...use it..

    great vid lemonette :))

  • I'm an organ doner!

  • Lemonette! I've missed you!

  • Thank you for making this video. I hope that people start thinking to become a donor. I know how important it is when you need an organ (I have had a liver transplant 5 years ago). Again thank you to be a donor :)!

  • I'm an organ donor too!

  • I am also a donor, they have a site where you can go online and say what you want and don't want to donate and also tell them if you want, your organs can or can't be used for research or can or can't be used out side of the states.

  • Agreed. I've had the little donor heart on my license for years. Hey, I'll be dead. If my organs can keep someone else alive they can have them, why let them rot in the ground with me?

  • I have a keyboard and a piano but no organ.

  • wow, that made me laugh out loud :)

  • Thank you I will be here all week. Chek out the gift store on the way out. :-)

  • I just filled out the form today :)

  • Im already an organ donor :)

  • Real men do not wait to die until they donate, but yes, I have made the little checkmark in the box as well.

  • I'm an organ donor.

But do your organs even function properly anymore? 0_0

  • I figure I'll let them sort that out later...

  • I was an organ donor, but when I moved from Alabama to Mississippi they did not put it back on my drivers license! But, now we have to think about face donation too.

  • I am -- and plan to donate my body to science once they've gotten all the organs they can use.

    Dena

  • Me too! Med students have to have cadavers to practice on and when they are done, the bodies are cremated. You can arrange to have the ashes returned to the family if they are interested in having them. It's cheaper than a funeral. LOL

  • done dat long ago. :)

  • The next time I go to get my license renewed I'll be an organ donor. :)

  • Yes I am lemonette! I went to a seminar in last year in college about it. It touched my heart so much... You are absolutely right. We won't need it! If we can use our bodies to help someone else live... now what part isn't Godly in that!

I am signed up to donate my liver and kidneys.

  • Have been one for 30 yrs. Can't think of anything better than giving more life to another person when I'm through with mine.

  • I am :)

  • YES!!!

  • Will do Lemmonette. You're right!

  • I hate to be contradictory, but there are excuses. I, for example, can't donate because I have hepatitis C.

  • I understand that some people cant, perhaps you could help by spreading the word and otherwise supporting organ donation!

  • That's true, and I do support the choice.

  • Do it today!? But I am still using my organs. At least wait until I don't need them anymore. LOL

  • SIGN UP today, you silly rabbitt! :)

  • I am an organ donor, also.

  • That's very nice, lemonette. My wife received a heart about 20 months ago anf she is doing very well today. It was a wonderful thing for us but an untimely tragedy for another family.

  • I am as well. As a Nursing student, its only right. haha =]

  • I have been an organ donor since the '60's. My kids signed up too when they were 10 yo.

    Moomay

  • Yes I am! :-)

    Tonjia

  • I am =D

I made a vid on it weee

  • Great job... when my dad died he was on the list for a kidney.... yeah for Organ Donors>

  • Thanks for the vid :) I am a donor! My uncle is here today because someone chose to donate their organs and he was able to receive a new heart! Bless all of you who have decided to be a donor!

  • I want your lemons!!

But seriously... I love seeing how this is making the ciruit around YouTube. It's both worthy and vital, and far too many people don't even give it a second thought. Many aren't even aware. This exposure is *increasing* awareness!

    Awesome!!

    Moosie

  • Sorry lemonette my organs are mine cause i am selfish.

Plus i believe in cyborg genetics and quite possibly in the next 50 years i will have most of them replaced.

  • well, at least you realize that it is selfish

Let me know how that plan works out for you.

  • Did you know you can save up to 50 different people with your organs? That is why i am an organ donor

  • 50 people? how?

  • basically you get divided up..it technically doesnt stop at just the major organs. i know its pretty gross to think about but ill give you a couple of examples. they can take certain parts that make up your eyes. they can take ligaments, tendons, bones, even skin. it all adds up. a doctor told me roughly 50 people can recieve from one donor. it might be more though if you think about it.

  • Paramedic - thanks for explaining! It does make sense :)

  • well i think donating organs is a wonderful thing but me being a strict catholict, i wouldnt like to lose part of me when i begin the afterlife :S

  • BTW in California you have a pink ORGAN DONOR dot on your California Driver's license or California Identification Card when you are a donor, NutCheese and I both have pink dots!

  • I should clear this up a little, NutCheese didn't WANT A PINK DOT but that is all she could have! She thinks she is so BUTCH!

  • I am an organ donor (except my penis it's going in the hall of fame) but everything else is up for grabs! My son at 14 wrote report on organ donors, so it was easy for me to sign the papers when he was killed and you would not believe the letters I got from those who benefited from his generosity!

  • Where do I sign up for this one Rey????

  • I don't see why people shouldn't donate organs. Once you're dead, what use do you have for them?? Give them to someone who NEEDS them!

  • Hi Lemonette! I've watched every one of your videos a dozen times or more. When I'm feeling down, well, I just turn on some Lemonette. Thank you. And yes, I'm a proud donor.

  • what organ did you donate?

  • all of 'em

  • then you have none left! I was making a joke ~ unsuccessfully

  • Well I should donate my heart, since it has never been used.

  • I am! I am! Make sure you have the organ donor card.

  • YUP YUP

  • Indeed, I am.

  • Lemonette you are so great!

  • and be sure your family knows your wish to donate!

  • I've been an organ donor since I was 16 and encourage everyone to be. We definitely don't need them when we're gone and they can save so many lives! I hope we can get the word out to the many people who don't even consider this. It would make such a difference in so many lives!

  • Thank you Lemonette, this is very important to our family! HUGS xoxo

  • I am too!

  • I am! ^_^

  • I'm an organ donor!

  • I'm a donor and I give blood. Yayz!

  • Good video lemonette. Okay, all I have to say is that I feel bad for the person who has to remove to organs from the dead person. Oh please, don't get grossed out. You know you wondered the same thing...lol.

  • Thank you so much for making this video. I feel so loved by all the people caring about the video I made. Organ Donation saved my life... YouTubers have been sooo loving to me with this issue. Thank you soooo much for helping save our lives!!

  • I am a donor and you need to tell your family also not just a box maked on your state id.

  • Good point, we do need to discuss it with whoever will be in a position to make decisions.

  • I would if I could.yay!! im so glad your a proud donor

  • I know that there are a lot of people out there who can't for whatever reason. That is okay, it helps just to spread the word!

  • No I am not a organ donor.

  • I think that everyone who can, should.

  • Awesome site to answer anyone's questions. Also...doesn't matter if your Catholic -- you can still donate!

  • I don't think my organs would be any good.

  • Some of mine are probably pickled! But I figure that I will let them take a look and maybe salvage one or two!!

  • But You Can Donate Them For Research. And Organs Includes Eyes, Pancreas, Go To dnaz dot org, And It Tells You What Can And Can Not Be Used. When I Signed Up I Checked Each Organ I Wanted To Donate (All) And I Checked The For Donation & Research. When My Husband Passed, They Took What They Could Use, And Creamated The Remains. The Creamation Cost Nothing Because Of The Donation.

    Roberta

  • Im a donor.

  • Auntie lemon,

im so excited you have a new video, if i dont see you weekly i go insane!!!!!

    love ya,

    lotus

  • Love You Too Babe. ;0)

    Roberta

  • You know, I've always been very paranoid and full of conspiracy theories. I used to always think that if someone needed a heart and I was their blood type, that their family would get me in a car wreck so they could feast upon my organs. Now I'm not *as* paranoid and seeing everyone I look up to are all donors, I am going to march down to the DMV and sign up to become one. But I swear if someone kills me in a wreck just after that happens, I'm coming back to haunt everyone ;)

  • Bless your heart, I am proud of you!

  • They wouldn't let me be an organ donor. I used to be though.

  • That's okay, they won't let me give blood anymore. I am always either anemic or taking prescribed iron supplements. At least you can help spread the word. Love you.

  • Not Even For Research? ;0)

    Roberta

  • YES!! Everyone in my family are organ donors. My 16 yr old son had a liver transplant when he was 9 years old. "Don't take your organs to heaven, because heaven knows we need them here"! Love ya Lemonette!

  • Yes i carry a donor card xxx hugs xxx

  • Im a catholic

  • So I am darling, I not sure of any dogma that prohibits an organ donation. If you feel it is wrong don't do it, but I do think God would be most pleased to see another give of themselves so others could live. Isn't that what he did on the cross? Peace be with you. xoxooxox

  • Catholicism:

Catholics view organ donation as an act of charity, fraternal love and self sacrifice. Transplants are ethically and morally acceptable to the Vatican. Pope John Paul II stated, "The Catholic Church would promote the fact that there is a need for organ donors and that Christians should accept this as a "challenge to their generosity and fraternal love" so long as ethical principles are followed."

  • I was just puttin it out there no real direction lol

  • The Pope encourages organ donation. Get out the pen! teehee

  • :):):)

  • Did it years ago! Let's have everyone do it! - roc

  • Good on you - I just saw a vid from Heffasaurus that conveyed exactly the same idea!

  • not any more. I had a mini stroke(TIA) in March and the questions they asked me in ER made me fell like they were making plans for where they could distribute my parts. You are much more valuable as parts than the amount they can make on your recovery.

  • That Is, I'm Sorry, A Lame Excuse. The People Taking Your Information Have No Contact At All With Or Where Your Organs Go. You Had A Stroke, They Were Asking In Case. This Is An Excerpt For Arizonas Donor Registry.

  • Myth: Doctors may let me die so they can transplant organs to other patients.

Fact: Doctors who treat patients at the time of death have nothing to do with donation or transplantation of their organs and tissues. Every effort is made to save a patient's life before donation can be considered.

  • That's true. they have a special coordinator to ask if you have a medical directive(when to pull the plug)

  • The ER people have absolutly no contact with transplant Centers. If your comment was true, then there would no longer be a wait list. plus, you have to be brain dead to donate. No other type of death is accepted. If you do some reading, you will be quite suprised. Organ donation has many false rumors, and wrong information. It saves lives... I hope you will study it, and re-think your choice. Peace and love. :D

  • I see that others have already commented, but I would like to add, that when you are still alive is a MUCH better time to ask the questions than after you are gone, don't you think?

  • Yes I do, I was a donor with a medical directive until the experience I had.

  • You can't take a personal talking to you when you're in crisis as a representation for Organ Donation. It doesn't go together. That was you be, understandably, afraid.

  • Yep, i'm a donor as well.

  • Lol I made a video just like this a few months ago for ItalianStalionette! I most definently am an organ donor.

  • Thank you Aember...It's sooo important!! Awareness is the key! xoxox girl!

  • IM A DONOR ! : )

  • Yep, I'm a donor too.

  • ive already done it :D

  • how do you get by without them

  • HA! it's called science....and drinking the blood of young children.

  • cool
