  • And what for great music!

  • And Trent Reznor would most likely do the soundtrack.

  • Fincher would have made a perfect film out of this novel.

  • 3 thumbs up!

  • one of the greatest books that i have ever red I WISH, HE (KUBRICK) WOULD MAKE A MOVIE

  • space elevators

  • so you stole the video then cut and paste new york skyline inside a tube?

(twin towers, central park) SHAME ON YOU

Read the books 1st before you make something out of context and grossly innacurate

  • my wife has just been admitted to hospital.... i took rama with me to pass the time.... i wish some one would make a full film,,,, the stairs, the darkness and the crash on the northern half.... such a good book...... and the short videos make the minds eye work harder,,,, thanks

  • The ocean would flood New York when Rama accelerated. Look at that huge wall on the side, and NY is only at sea level.

  • Great, must have taken ages to do that, amazing. Love the book

  • I'm a huge Kubrick fan, but he would be the last man you'd pick to bring your favorite novel to film. His imagination and instincts were so strong, the source material was just a jumping-off point and he would change everything until it was unrecognizable.

  • @logicbranch I don't know if he would have done that or not. He did create and worked with Kubrik on 2001 A space odessy. I think if they were both alive it would be made by them. What better team to do this?

  • @KCLion Maybe you're right, it's an exaggeration to call The Shining "unrecognizable", although Steven King did dislike it. But remember the book 2001 didn't exist before Kubrick's involvement, it was a collaboration, so naturally it matched the film pretty well. In fact, the contract required Kubrick to sign off before the book could be published, and he intentionally delayed a long time because he wanted his film to come out before the book!

  • Delírios da engenharia... Imagine o custo de um projeto destes. só em sonho, mesmo... E em livros de ficção científica.

  • Great video. I'm just reading Rendevous with Rama now and this video helps me visualize it better. You did a great job with the interior too.

  • @samysam1313 I didn't make the film. Two excellent graphic artists did. I used footage from their films to make this. I have permission to use them. I did however compose the music for this. I'm glad it helped you visualize the book better.

  • CHILDHOODS END !.

  • Kubrick must be spinning and screaming from his grave. Kubrick was the only one with stones and imagination to do it

  • @glnutt1 Kubrick would have been great for this.

  • Part of the problem with making a motion picture of this is that Morgan Freeman has the film rights to it. His film company was slated to make the film, however, it was dropped a couple of years ago. I don't know if anyone will pick it up to make. It seems that intelligent and thought provoking films are not popular among the masses and only the dumbed down eye candy films are going to be made.

  • @KCLion Hope glimmers on the horizon

According to Imdb: Morgan Freeman says, "We're still pushing for 'Rendezvous With Rama.' That's a got-to-be-done movie. Just have to figure out how to do it. I've been trying for -- I don't know -- 15 years now to get a script."

  • @KCLion I thought you might want to know that Morgan Freenman is now moving foward with Rendezvous with Rama for 2013. There's only one thing that bugs me and thats because they're having David Fincher (Alien 3) direct. Why would you give something this huge to Fincher is beyond me. They should have JJ Abrams or heck even Spielberg or James Cameron take a shot at it. These are the type of films I'd like to see more of. Even by todays standards, 2001 is still very good.

  • @haddonfield04 Apparently Freeman has wanted Fincher to do it for a very long time. The major problem seems to be getting someone to write a script that is acceptable to Freeman.

  • This is truly fantastic. I long to see this made into a movie. As well as Childhoods end. What makes me laught is that they cancel projects like rendezvous with Rama, but make movies like Transformers and Skyline. I guess we can make infantile movies but not cerebral ones.

  • WOW... this is really profound cool stuff... THANKS!

  • Great visual interpretation of one of my favourite books...

  • I am in the middle of Rama Revealed. This is the third time I've read this series in probably 15 years. Never fails to be one of the best stories I've ever read. In my opinion this series should be made into a major motion picture series like the 'lord of the rings' trilogy or such. Anything less would be to slaughter such a tale.

PLEASE in my lifetime someone make such a staggering and stunning movie......and do it justice!!!

  • i did not like this novel the plot was very dull and dry the story had enormous potential too bad it was treated like a science lecture.

  • Fasinating.

  • It is somewhat funny that Rama may be a pretty accurate description of what a interstellar space craft have to look like in order to transport several thousand people to another solar system. But seems rather impossible to build. Would be a nice project thou and i bet raising the funds for it would be a major pain in the arse XD (i have to read the book already! damn me)

  • @fastLupus You might try to make the people on Magrathea an offer they can't refuse. Piece of cake for them... once the cash is there.

  • Too bad the plot is not interesting enough to make a moive for the general public.

  • @lowerlowerhk I'm not so sure. When I first read the book I couldn't put it down.

I think the general themes of exploration, discovery, space travel and extra-terrestrial contact would be enough to keep most audiences interrested. Today's CG technology could produce something truly spectacular with this subject matter.

Perhaps the screen writers could introduce some level of conflict among the humans as to the moral implications of tamperring with alien property to add a little human drama....

  • This is simply fantastic...what did you use to create the interior of Rama?

  • Re-reading the Rama series. RIP Arther C Clarke a huge loss to plausible Sci-Fi:(

    Great vid 5*

  • Where can I find some information about how such a video is made. Very curious. Is this made by an amateur or is this the work of a studio? I haven't a clue.

  • Splendidly made! Kudos.

Maybe someday humanity will be living in that kind of worlds. Worlds without tornadoes, earthquakes and tsunamis. And maybe without crime.

    Our own home-made paradise.

  • I found it so disturbing that Director Mr. David Fincher announced that the Rama Project was dead. This short film gave me hope. I have been stuck with alot of scifi garbage for so long since the hobbit films. There is a seious void in the SciFi world. I thought that the Rendezvous with Rama movie was going to be so big... a major accomplishment! They really hurt my feelings. You have helped and gave me hope. The novel screams out for a film adaption! Again thank you so much! Bless you!

  • Yes I was saddened as well by the notice of cancellation as well....With the technology made available to the film industry these days or even right here at our own computers, the movie would not be THAT big of an undertaking.. I mean really... If I had the knowledge on the visual end to do it, I would do it....I do however have the musical ability :) But yes someone needs to step up to this project and just do it...God rest Mr. Clarke's soul...Anyone that loves Mr Clark would find it honoring

  • If you would read some more about A. C. Clarke you would know that he didn't believe in any god.

  • ahhh yes...absolutely right...I believe he believed in something greater than we are but doing the research he did, in fact, believe that God was nonexistent. But he's gone yet his brilliance and legacy will live on forever...Rest his soul by whatever means :)

  • He also almost knew for sure that he - and the rest of us - didn't have an immortal soul. So, no need for rest. :).

But he was a great writer and an eye opener. That will live with us who enjoyed his writing.

  • Theres enough talent here to make a fine adaption of the novel! I would savor every second of such a major motion picture film! Lets gets together and pay honor to such a great man and fill the void of the science fiction relm that so desperately needs an good production. Hope I'm not stuck with Star Trak 531/2

  • @catalinanewbold Except he didn't make any part of this video except for possibly the music.

  • Hey! This is what I needed when I'm down. I found out this year that the Rendezvous movie directed by Daivd Fincher was cancelled. A dead project! If he doesn't do the film adaption of one the greatest science fiction novels ever written then somebody needs to bloody step up and do it! Especially since we lost Sir Arthur C. Clarke in 2008...he died in Sri Lanka (the father of satelite comminucations and the writer of 2001 space odyssey)God Bless you Mister Clarke. I will miss you. Fine film
