  • Did you know when Allen was talking to Gronk, Thompson was in the Allen photos even though he already puffed away?

  • deltic and greffory disliked this

  • since I have started to watch your series I have really started to like the A1s and have been looking to get one for myself but I have heard that they are weak engines, is this true about them?

  • @Henryfan3 - a bit of fettling with some lead shot in the top of the boiler, above the driving wheels, and they are fine. None of mine have actually needed that, mind.

  • @simierski ok thanks for the information its been a great help

  • Why did you change Stephen's livery twice I liked the blue :(

  • I see something moving at the top left corner between 4:45 and 4:51. Is that you, Simon?

  • at 1:40 colours and liveries are the same thing no?

  • at 2:19 I saw that loco being built on RM Web by you today, Simon. I've never seen anything look so professionally made!

  • 7:01-7:09 Haven't you heard of patience Hawk!!?? I think you need to learn some you stupid Great Western engine!!!

    Hawk: STUPID!?

    Me: Sorry about that.

  • My favorite line from all of this was "Look, just give it a bang. They'll go flying." In my opinion, the speed at which the line was said was what contributed to its humorousness. May you continue to be successful with your endeavors sir!

  • TTOOBBYY

  • were can i buy alan, herbert and stephen

  • you should consider putting these onto dvd and selling them! a definite alternative to thomas the tank engine

  • GOD!!! WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO BE SUCH A GOOD SERIES!?!?!?!?!

:P Wonderful series. Very well done, very accurate, and enjoyable to watch. You could be the next Rev. W. Audrey

  • I like these videos. My favourite engines are Allen and Stephen. When is episode 18 coming?

  • I have always been your #1 fan, Simierski!!!

  • I have been a big fan of you simierski!!!!

  • i have a question how do u attach the faces to the engine and what are the faces made of?

  • Where did you get those couplings that are on the front of Allen?

  • the description says 'tan' instead of 'tank' engine

  • gronk looks awsome.

  • Why did Thompson appear for the first time in this episode without introduction?

  • I saw on your site that Stephen survived and is at the North Norfolk Railway. I'm glad he survived modernization.

  • WHOA! The real Stephen? The one from these yards, protrayed in the series?

  • Does your camera have a macro setting?

  • Lol, of course the GWR one would be supporting Swindon! That was pretty clever.

  • what kind of lockomotive is allen?

  • So this was the first episode the Deltic appeared in.

  • I thought Sir Ralph pulled the Mid-Day Express.

  • how did you do the faces?

  • Clay, paint, and good molding hands

  • I quite like the lesson at 6:40 ish, your wording sounds great there especially, kind of like you would expect from a TV program, bit Willy Rushton-y. Always a good ep though.

  • I mean sorry to ChuckneyScout

  • When's great western glory coming out?

  • How come you didn't put faces on those mainline diesels?

  • Let's just say that at the time I really had no idea how on earth I was going to put faces on them :(

I've worked it out now!!! :)

  • @simierski Actually, it's because they didn't rpoperly show their personalities right?

  • @simierski Actually, it's because they didn't properly show their personalities right? (Sorry for the double-post: grammar error)

  • When's the next episode of the British railway series? Will there be a Christmas special by any chance?

  • If you go to my latest vid, it gives a date for the next episode (12). Kind Regards, Simon

  • I wish my little brother wouldn't use my YT account. Thank you anyway, I'll pass it on to him.

  • Sorry about that!

  • can i have a cope of the British Railway Series on dvd if yes i will tell you the addesh

  • This took place in 1958 right?

  • 1953 actually - we'll be moving into 1956 by Easter, and by next christmas, 1964...

  • "gronk" is also the other name of the Class 08

  • whos sir ralph wedgewood

  • The A4 Pacific Locomotive with the square face.

  • Aren't there going to be any female engines in the series?

  • There will indeed be a few female engines in the series.

  • Well I figured there were going to be some female engines before the series ends.

  • What happened to my last comment?

  • Deleted - I'm not happy with people speculating on the engines futures when there's plenty of episodes left before such a matter arises. Please stay in topic, i.e on topic with regards to this episode.

  • Sorry. Good face on Gronk.

  • one question, will gronk stay on as a main character after the steam engine characters have all been scrapped?

  • I'd rather not answer the question - not to reveal all the series secrets you see.

  • Well it the end of the series dosen't have to be that sad. I mean, What if the steam engine characters were sold to another line at the end of the series? You know like the Severn Valley Railway or the Bluebell line.

  • his mind has been made up,the engines WILL get scraped.this is mostly because of history, and what really happend to the engines.so you can ask for a happy endine, but it wont happpen.

  • Well, I wouldn't say it'll be the happiest ending in the world, but there is always a silver lining to every cloud.

  • Well I know Allen, Nigel and Sir Ralph will wind up in the junk yard none of the engines in either Nigel nor Allen's classes were preserved and Sir Ralph was obviously not preserved like a few of his brothers and sisters were.

  • And there's another thing;

    You can't change history.

  • whens the next one?

  • The next one won't appear until december, but there is a trailer coming soon...watch this space!

  • which space?

  • He means his youtube site.

  • 20/12/08

  • sorry about smammimg that comment. i was supposed to click reply. What i was gonna say was that the only surviving 4-6-0 LNER is the Flying Scotsman

  • It isn't though - it's the only surviving 4-6-2 A3 pacific from the LNER. 61572 is the only example of a Gresley/Holden B12 to survive, and there are severl Thompson B1s and B2s preserved with the same wheel arrangement.

  • i meant 4-6-2 LNER Flying Scotsman

  • Did you hear that the B12 is due for its 10 year overhaul?

  • Very interesting episode =) I like Gronk, he seems like an impressive character, and seeing Hawk return was pretty cool as well. I loved the story of course, which was rather good and interesting to see in action.

    5/5

  • black box on wheels lol good line.

    Excellent as always 5/5

  • This is by far the BEST model series on YouTube.I'm hoping there's an episode where Hawk becomes an LNER.

  • Um...nope. But thank you for your comments.

  • um look

sorry about the thing about Steven

I don't want you to think Im a pestering nuisance because I don't want to be. I love your videos and think they are the best on youtube. your videos are awesome!

hows the latest episode coming on

    please reply, thanks

    bachmanthomas21

  • No problem, sorry for the late reply. Kind Regards, Simon

  • thanks mate

  • Was the class 6 a class six or a brittania in disguise. if it was a class 6 then where did you get it because it looks great.

  • It was indeed a class 6, I built it from a Golden Arrows "Clan" class 6 kit myself.

  • So,we're going to see episode where the engines actually get scrapped?Sorry for the multi questioning.

  • Well,if most of the cast was scrapped, who survived?Besides the diesels.

  • They've not been scrapped yet...we've got so many episodes to go its unbelieveable.

  • i love the vids ther awsom

  • have to add, very much like the introduction of new diesels, sort of a fresh start, and the series needed it.

  • i have done the marathon, watched every episode, and its a mighty series

  • I think you deserve an award for this, no one else would have the patience to go through them all! Thank you very much for your time and comments Leo, I look forward to your writeup with interest. Please take your time: no rush! Once again, thank you very much.

  • why put a diesel in it why

  • Historically, this is what would have happened. In the episodes to come, more and more diesels will appear...and less and less steam will survive.

  • are there any actual survivors of coply hill shed? (sorry cant spell X()

  • Flying Scotsman, possibly?

    Coply = Copley.

  • oh, i thought hawk would be one aswell but the numbers dont match up to either of the two preserved 94XX's, only the GWR livery number matches

  • Hawk's number is 9400.

  • wow that was brilliantly made top marks 10/10

  • ha i like the guitar version of 'dam busters'

my grandfather was in the dam busters. sadly he died of cancer 3 years ago... :L oh well.

tell me, where can i find the music?

  • It was specially composed by our musical director for the series, and was recorded for us by a student band. It's not actually available to the public, but we may make it available if the series goes further. I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather, was he in the actual squadron or the film?

  • He was in the actual squadron, he was the rear gunner in one of the lancasters.

  • awesome!!!

  • I Like Gronk! :)

  • you're right hes like an anti diesel! Its only the design that made me thnk of him!

  • aw sweet happy 1st anniversary guys! the new intro is kind of like the old thomas series (sorry for comparing your to somthing else)Gronk reminds of Diesel from the thomas series

  • dizzyliz1965:yeah,only he's a lot more nicer than diesel.he's sorta like an ''Anti Diesel'' in my opinion.

  • It's kind of required really, characters like those in BRWS are difficult for younger children to differentiate between, so the nameplates are a necessary evil and actually help to introduce the characters for the episodes to come.

  • COOL!!!! ITS HERE!!!

I love This and its addicting even more than corrie!!!! Keep the series going

And am i ok making my own story of sir ralph including the B16 ( or B17 for me ) destroyed in WW2

  • it will be based around the B16!

  • I wish you wouldn't - this storyline is copyrighted for a reason. I don't get why people feel the need to do something themselves that someone has already done. Go and work on something else, please. I like the interest, but I am disheartened that you would think my work inadequate that you'd remake it from another point of view.

  • ok, I have a back up storyline and i loved the Sir Ralph Wedgewood story, i thought it was the best episode ever!!!!!!!

  • Tomson appears to have the face from the Class 4 Steve talks to in "Goodbye Steven the Green Engine".Also,I never thought Hawk would return.Good to see him back.

  • You would be correct to an extent - it's made from the same mould and painted similarly. Too good a face to not use, the class 4MT has the original face still.

  • Well, there are similar points in history that relate to Rev W. Awdry's Railway Series and Thomas the Tank Engine. But the major difference from my point of view is this:

Rev. W. Awdry was just the storyteller, while Simierski is the historian.

Simierski, I hope I didn't overdo it on this comment.

  • Not at all, it is a nice comment. With respect to the reverend, he was both storyteller and historian, and not only that, but a creative genius. Who else could have come up with an entire island and its population in minute detail? Not forgetting, of course, George Awdry his brother who had a great hand in it too.

  • A GWR pannier and a class 08 diesel switcher/shunter doesn`t this seem like a bit of a TTTE parody.

  • Well, that was actually the point.

It was entirely meant to prove a point and to provide a comparison to the way in which the good reverend treated diesel traction. Whereas I accept it as a certainty (because it is historically correct), that the steam locomotives will be replaced with diesel traction.

I make no apologies for making the comparison, that was the point. At the end of the day, it was intended to be a ligthearted episode after episode 10, anyway.

  • Hey how about this. Episode 12 halloween where a ghost desile called nimbues and the ghost of galdwall hanet the yard

  • Do they even celebrate Halloween in Britain?

  • Of course they do!

  • There is a holloween episode all ready planned. However it probably won't be here til october or maybe early winter....

  • I generally as a rule don't do halloween episodes. Too commercial for me, although there is a script I have here regarding Herbert and the Ghost of the lost fogman...

    ...but that's another story!

  • That was the episode i was referring to, but I did'nt want to give that much away which is why i called it a holloween episode. Even though it is'nt.

  • It's nice how your series doesn't always have a happy ending, I like the way it's based on a historical events. The other day I saw a historical video about the Germans bombing railways in Britain and it immediately reminded me of your Sir Ralph Wedgwood trilogy but then again I shouldn't be too surprised.

  • It's kind of uplifting not being so depressed by the drama of episode 10.

    HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

  • You know, when I saw the preview of this episode on the final quarter of episode 10, I thought, "Uh-oh, I hope it's not a Duck-and-Diesel situation." I'm just glad that it wasn't.

  • What's more, from my point of view, Gronk not only prevented a serious accident, but he also saved Hawk's buffers (no offense) and reputation, so that may be a sign that they'll be great friends in the future.

  • Great new character, great (but simple) plotline. Can't wait to see the other series. :) In response to the 'cast death' comment, I doubt it.

  • I hope there won't be one

  • me too.a better ening would be to have the line preserved and all of the engines preserved.its not exactly ''historicly accurate'' but its a nicer way to end the series.

  • But thats entirely the point! The series is meant to be entirely historical. It isn't MEANT to have an entirely happy ending! And since they're my characters, I can do what I like with them anyway - in the sense that I know how the series ends for each of them.

  • ok then.your right its your series, noone else's.i should of thought before i talked.but hey,at least a few characters are preserved.if memory serves, didnt sir ralph get preseved, along with mallard and a few other a4's?

  • That would be telling!

I can't reveal all the series secrets.

  • Great vid, I love the series, I have been following since, well, 3 days ago... but I've watched the whole series.

I wish my Deltic ran like that, I think I got the runt of the Bachmann limited editions!

  • Happy anniversary! Gronk is a great addition to the series and a nice surprise. I thought the first diesel that would be play a role in the series would be Harry the hymek but it looks like I was wrong.

  • The Deltic prototype is looking good. It's a very nice model and quite expensive too.

  • happy anniversary, i've been following the series since the realease of ep 3

  • is this in 00 or 0

  • This is 00 gauge.

  • As I said on MTF, happy first anniversery Simierki!

  • Thanks, its been a great first year, here's to at least another!

  • Brilliant Episode and Happy Anniversery,You're Series rocks!!!!!!

  • If the truck had gotten onto the line, do you think Mid-day wouldve wrecked or just sent the truck flying? I personally think the truck would be destroyed and mid-day would've kept rolling.

  • Not worth thinking about, to be honest. What is done, is done.

Incidentally The midday express was being pulled by new character "Stewart" who'll appear in episodes to come.

  • fantastic i hope your legacy continues

  • nice deltic! very good episode dudes, a good new charactor there, gonna make some great episodes in the future. well done

  • Thanks mate, the Deltic will appear in its own episode at some point too. I'm still trying to work how I'm going to do a BRWS style face for it though...!!!

Gronk is a great little character, will help to ease certain script problems and will doubtless prove a popular character.

  • Happy Anniversey! I just KNEW that after the conversation with Allen, Stephen & Sir Ralph there was going to be an accident.

"It wasn't the end of steam by any means." Riiiiight.

  • Wasn't the end of steam at that point. Remember, the year is 1953...

It's 1968 when we'll finally see the end of steam in BRWS.

  • im sorry but id rather you didnt make a storyline were some of the engines get scraped.take nigel, like you said no v3's were preserved, does that mean there will be an ep were nigel gets scraped?

  • Yes. In fact it's pretty much a given that almost the entire cast gets scrapped. History sadly. Don't worry, it'll be handled well enough.

  • ah well.whatever will be will be.still there gos the happy ending, but if you want to stick closer to History, then i dont mind.

  • Is there going to be an episode where the cast gets scrapped?:(

  • well,it is possible, that is if simierski wants to stick closer to History.but if he did,it shure would be a dark end to the series.

  • I hopr there isn't

  • Yes. Several in fact.

    ;)

  • "Yes. Several in fact" what? :(

  • Several main characters will get scrapped - and some will get cut up during the course of the last few episodes.

  • err, isnt geting cut up,the same thing as being scrapped?

  • ah, but is it? Being cut up completely is scrapping, being cut up partially is not...

  • i must say that gronk's become a popular character.and hes only been on the show for 1 episode!

  • I agree - and I am surprised by how popular he has become. The fan emails have been full of comments about him!

  • i think what made a lot of people like gronk,is cus he didnt turn out to be the bad guy like everyone expected him to be.its not the same old diesel vs steam stuff like in t&f,its totally different.

  • WHY,MAN WHY D'X (cries)

  • Hey, Dont get upset , I think Stephen is based on the only survivng 4-6-0 from the LNER and why think so far ahead?

Its not as if all of them get scraped

  • That's the spirit! ^_^

  • yeh, so many people who never saw a real running steam train in its true habitat moan when if they lived on to about 2003 it would of been alot sadder to see them murdered... it was destined to happen

  • and there are loads of survivors of steam! so everyone cheer up!

  • But then again there are some steam engines that are either rare or extinct. It's a shame because if there was at least one of each survivor, they could be preserved or used as a physical blueprint to make more.

  • Sorry, I meant to say: "one of each engine that survived.

  • Hey, wait a yellow polka-dotted minute; I saw a Fairburn Tank Engine in the background! So the LMS is bound to come next, as I'd dare say. The Fairburn Tanks are one of my absolute favourites of the Midland stable! How clever of you! You probably thought I didn't see it first time round, didn't you?

  • Spot on!!!

That character is named Charles - and I haven't decided whether or not to bring him into the series. Fairburn tanks had been seen at Copley Hill a few times over the last ten years of its existence, so its not an undistinct possibility.

  • Well, now...*HEARTY CHUCKLES*... I think you should. I like them anyway. Same as the Stanier 3-Cyl 2-6-4T tank locomotives, mainly the preserved class leader, No. 2500.

He is the main character right from the start of my own series called 'THE NRM SERIES' which focuses on the National Collection. What do you think of that?

Anyway, why don't you took a look at my 'Boys in Rail Blue' short film? I'm sure you'll like it!

  • i used that diesel shunter for my rws diesel

  • HAPPY ANNEVERSARY GREAT EPISODE

  • Gronks incidental muic was funny! Fun ep definetly, was nice to ese your Kit build running at last ;)

  • Cheers mate, that music was Fiona's conribution to the episode - she plays the trumpet!!! ^_^

Yep, it's great to see the Clan running too, it's taken long enough!!!

  • This was a great episode, then again their all great mind you! This is going to be another fave of mine. Great Job Simerski!

  • ok,gronk has made it on to my list of favorate BRS characters, once again another episode has come out great.happy first anneversary!

  • Happy Anniversary!!

  • Happy 1st anniversery

  • wow another epesode already!

  • Happy first!

    Nice Deltic by the way!

Gronk actually sounds pretty nice. :)

  • Congrats on the 1st British Railway Series anniversery!

  • happy first anneversary!!
