i have 2 diffrent types of kar98! the kar98 is amazing acurate !!!!!! and they look sooOOoo awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D they are in dark nice wood! <3 thats why i chose kar98 :P but anyway i bet the Enfield No4 Mk1 is as good as a kar98! sorry for my bad english ! :P
From my point of view, as someone who has been shooting guns since 1967, I would say that both guns are outstanding in all respects. My personal preference is the Mauser, because I love the accuracy, but for someone who prefers a faster rate of fire, the Enfield is the best of the best. Take it from me, I have fired both guns!
@andyhuangit But thats the point, the Lee-Enfield was a better rifle in both world wars in my opinion. Most engagements were at close quarters, where you will benefit alot from a faster firing higher capacity rifle like a Lee-Enfield.
I own both, a K98K 8mm and an Enfield No4 Mk1 .303 British, and the only thing that the Enfield has above the Mauser is the 10 round removable magazine. That's it. With a stripper clip close at hand the Mauser is not far behind on the amount of lead it can throw in a short time span. I believe the Mauser to be more durable, better designed, more accurate and easier to shoot with the cock on close bolt. Just my thoughts though.
@RPHELPS922 I've only shot one Mauser and the accuracy was pretty terrible compared to any enfield and most rifles I've shot. When it comes to accuracy, it's really splitting hairs to compare them. The Enfield has enough accuracy for the job, and has proven it many times over. As for durability, the Enfield has also proven this.
@RPHELPS922 I prefer the Enfield bolt more than the Mausers, i think thats an advantage too, it can be worked alot faster than the Mauser bolt. The Mauser bolt is stronger and more sturdy, but i dont think that the cock on close bolt of the Enfield is a disadvantage at all, it made need a little more muscle than the Mausers at times, but you work it fast and it spits lead faster than any other rifle of the time. I wouldnt trade my Enfield for a Mauser, but id love to have both. Or a Mosin nagant
@RPHELPS922 The Mauser 98 system utilizes a cock-on-opening system. You might be thinking of the Swede Mauser 96's, but it's not my understanding that these ever saw a theatre of combat.
The Kar98k has adjustable sights....virtually every rifle has adjustable sights.
But adjustable sights have no bearing on accuracy as you can compensate for windage, range, elevation, etc without manipulating the physical sights....you just angle the rifle accordingly.
Yeah, if you're talking about long range shooting, then the Mauser reigns supreme simply by the ballistics. But also Germany was world renowned for it's supreme optics developments. Their telescopic sights were superb.
kar98 is better of course.. slightly more accurate and more powerfull... mauser bullet is 8mm (7.92mm) and enfield bullet is 303 (7.7mm) so who ever says the lee enfield is more powerful is a dumbass, kar98 is more accurate just by a lil bit and is more soldier friendly rugged bolt action and i think kar98 looks better then lee enfield :)
and also the mauser action is the bases of all hunting rifles and who ever says the lee enfield has more history is retarded cuz the lee enfield was made because of the mauser and all the lee enfields accomplishments go under the mausers belt if no mauser then no enfield. but still both rifles has advantages, Kar98 more accurate and more powerful and easy to use, lee enfield has large mag capacity and smooth bolt action and better long range sights so... comes down to opinion i prefer Kar98 :)
@migliore44, can you specify how much more accurate a Mauser is then an Enfield? Is there a few inches of difference between the way Mauser and Enfield groups? Is it enough to entirely miss a man at 200 yards? How much does the .303 drop off compared to the 8mm mauser?
ok then buddy, if you could hit a coke can at 1000 yards with a kar98 or mauser then you could hit a coke can at 975 yards with lee enfield, (like if you could hit something at those ranges you would have to be skilled) but at 100 yards mauser groupings might be like under an inch if you have the rifle in a rifle hold and lee enfield might be under or over an inch, and 8mm could go threw 25 inchs of jello crap then lee enfield would go 20 inchs in, not much differences but still i prefer Kar98
@migliore44, LOL! Can you hit a coke can at 1000 yards with either rifle? Do you think soldiers in WW2 hit 1000 yard coke sized targets with iron sights? Under an inch would be like a highly accurate target rifle, the Kar98k isn't a highly accurate target rifle. To be honest, the .303 and 8mm mauser are more then enough to kill a man. Your, "in depth analysis" is like reading the entrails of a gutted pig.
u dumbass thats what i fucking meant, i was metaphoricly speaking that if you fucking could hit a can at 1000 yards with a mauser, with lee enfield you hit 975 yards you dumb fucker, i didnt actually mena someone hitting a can at 1000 yards, thats a fucking example you dumbass my in depth analysis was in your moms vagina, faggot if you reply to this comment you are gay, have no life, scumbag, assfucking fag that needs to get some pussy other then fondling your rifles receiver with your 2inch hog
I just think it's funny when people argue for Enfeild citing it's "faster firing rate" or "large mag capacity" as the end-all of this genre. They're freaking bolt guns! I mean wouldn't you laugh if you saw an Enfeild with a tach light, a polymer stock, and a 30 round mag stuck in it?
Both of these rifles are combat accurate, you can't really say one has a lot better accuracy then the other. If accuracy was all that matter then we would have never adopted semi automatic rifles. The reason I think the Enfield is better then the Mauser is because it has a smoother working bolt, better sights, and 5 extra rounds.
It really depends on the scenario I suppose. For closer range I might choose an Enfeild because it has a very smooth bolt and higher mag capacity and for me personally I can pop off more rounds faster with my Enfeild. And for a wide open area where I might be sniping or engaging targets at long range I might choose a Mauser.
My Enfeild doesn't have better long range sights than my mauser. my enfleid has ghost sights, not a flip up sight like many do. It is still accurate but the mauser in this case has better suited sights than my Enflield
I collect Enfields, and I will take an Enfield over a Mauser any day of the week. I'm not saying anything is wrong with the Mauser, I just like the Enfield better. People don't realize the old .303 round is almost as powerful as a .30-06.
But the way the Marine Commandos used the enfield (5 guys firing in cannon) which there has been reporteds where the nazis thought it was a bren when it was some marine commands with enfields, so overall I'd say the enfield
yes, and on another occasion there were 1200 brittish troops against a charge of 3600 germans...the germans were all wiped out. I be willing to bet that if it was reversed it wouldn't have happened the same way.
I dont think so, Unless you've fired em both you can only compare them that way a Lee Enfield shoots up to 1000m Still Acurate while a Mauser is 860M Acurate
do u have an enfield? do u have a mauser? i have both and if im going to shoot long range for accuracy i grab the mauser. if im going to waste lead the enfield would be better out of the 2. my enfield is by a large margin my least accurate bolt action which includes my 20 inch barreled mosin nagant. nyahtake that rossco
the mauser is stronger and more accurate the lee has got a slightly faster action ,the mauser is better ,but the lee is very good too ,the man behind the rifle counts more than the gun , I HAVE USED BOTH recently !!
i love the mauser, but the enfield typically can do greater damage. The enfield can shoot faster than a semi auto rifle, and more accurately at that, and the larger mag capacity allows it to compete with modern weapons.
Personally i would choose the 98k every time simply because of its durability, accuracy, and sexy feel, although i do like the lee en field allot too.
the 5 round clip is fine, i feel the fewer rounds trains you to be more accurate with each shot and make every one count.
people say the enfield has a faster bolt than the mauser, which if true is not much faster because I can work the bolt on my mauser really fast , the mauser is a much better gun , the ammo amount can be modified as well as the sights
people think the mauser action is stronger because the firing pin resets when the bolt is lifted upwards, where as the enfield the firing pin resets on the forward push. i would choose mauser because thats my favorite, and because its brisk when opening, your bolt cant dis-engage when the shit hits the fan. Lee Enfields a beautiful rifle, also, but favorites are favorites.
I think they are the same because the Mauzer is a little bit more accurate and more powerfull. But the Leenfield has a bigger clip and has better rate of fire.
Its really about personal prefferance on these 2 rifles.
But about the Nagant......
its heavier, less accurate, longer, less practical(because bayonetts are very difficult to put on and they are not stable and the actual disighn of the bolt action system is inferrior to both the leenfied and the mauzer)Whoeversaid the nagant wasbetter.
Lee Enfield every day. Enfield has 10 rounds each of which is .311 wide (not .303 as most think) which is 7.9mm where as the mauser is 7.92mm. Enfield just as accurate and has a higher rate of fire.
the bolt doesn't need to as it was designed for the .303 catridge, however the cock on close mechanism can use magnum rounds. The mauser round is only 0.2mm wider which is no difference what so ever.
thats rubbish, there's no evidence what so ever to proove that to my knowledge. Especially considering every rifle was tested to withstand more that a 1/3 higher pressure that the standard round.
The gun at 0:26 isn't a Lee Enfield.. It is a Lee Metford, the rifle just BEFORE the Enfield, and just AFTER the Martini Henry

Lee Enfield (My vote):
Cock on closing (smoother bolt, faster rate of fire)
10 round detachable mag (Higher capacity, however only detachable for cleaning)
No.4 has longer sight radius and peep sight for quicker sight line up/more precision
Mauser:
Dual forward locking lugs and one rear locking for stronger action
8mm Mauser more powerful round for slightly better accuracy at extreme ranges
Bolt doesn't require tools to disassemble
Rimless cartridge for easier reloading/more reliable feeding
NormanMatchem 8 months ago
Lee Enfield: -10 rounds, also detachable box
-quick throw bolt, faster rate of fire
-No.4 has a better sight picture with the peep sights, which makes lining up targets faster.
Mauser: -8mm cartridge has slightly better trajectory at extreme range,
-thats about it.
