If David Miller only knew that he'd be creating on of the most iconic images in all of culture when he first designed that makeup. Sometimes, you just catch lightning in a bottle. Although I must admit, I LOVE the KNB redesign from New Nightmare.
Freddy's make-up looks best in Freddy's Revenge because he looks totally evil and twisted and then in Dream Warriors, as the make up still looked really good. I love this video, I like the alternate scenes, I like the way the explain every thing. And it's a shame that a classic film like A Nightmare on Elm Street, get thrown in with one of the worst remakes ever, I was excited about the remake, after I watched it I was disappointed. Only Robert Englund can fulfill the Freddy Krueger character.
It's a shame these scenes were not in the final version. We didn't get to hear Freddy talk too much in the 1st one. That scene where he says "look, all better for me, but not for you!" after slicing off his fingers would have made Tina's nightmare scene more intense. His voice and mannerisms are so damn creepy in some of these takes. Maybe someday they'll release an alternate version with some of these scenes in tact.
I wish they'd have used David Warner in the remake, since he was originally cast before Robert Englund. (Guy that played the professor on TMNT 2, company of wolves, and Dr. Who and stuff)
Then I also always kind of hoped Johnny Depp would have gotten it. ..I mean he WAS Edward Scissorhands and most everything he's been in was surreal type movies.

I love Robert's Freddy the best. It seems wrong for me to feel a sense of love for a character who is so dark and evil.....but somewhere deep down inside I feel he has good intentions as well. I love Freddy, and in my imagination he is my friend.

The first Nightmare film I saw was when I was about six years old was Part 2: Freddy's Revenge. The ending, when Freddie's gloved hand bursts out through the woman's chest on the school bus really shit me up. It's a shame that the movies really went downhill after that and I was hoping that the new one was going to set the franchise back on track. Unfortunately, with Michael Bay involved, you just know that it is gonna suck balls. I'm gonna make my own remake and upload it in bits on youtube.

You can get away with other actors performing as Frankinstine, Jason, Michael Myers and Leather Face cos its not much to it and these charactors dont speak alot. I disagree with that, noes3 and new nightmare were just as good as the original version imo. The rest, 2, 4, 5, and 6, I can understand why most people dislike them but I still enjoy them anyway. The original though will always be a classic.

Ok Robert should be worried because Jackie Earle Haley may top his performance. Ok Robert will always be Freddy but i heard the same thing with Jackie that happened with Robert. The cast and crew would be talking to him off-set and then bang when Action is yelled, he gets right in character same thing for Jackie.
Rhorschach is taking on the helm as the new generations Freddy ... and I'm telling you guys ... AS A HUGE FREDDY FAN ... I was skeptic about a new Freddy movie without Robert Englund.
After seeing Jackie Earle Haley in WATCHMEN as Rhorschach ... Its got my seal of approval, I"m actually ANXIOUS for it! He is an amazing actor, and strange enough, he has a similar look to Englund, so it should be an awesome transition! I LOVE FREDDY!
I totally agree. Jackie Earle Haley certainly is a very good actor and a brilliant choice as Freddy. Its an Inspired choice, actually. After my initial resentment and disapproval, ive come to realize that this movie could be done brilliantly-IF THEY TAKE THEIR TIME. What was really lacking in all the Freddy movies was a sense of what Freddy was and where he came from. If they did good enough CG and design, it could really make skins crawl. But again, Jackie is the BEST possible choice.
his makeup was so real looking, you can acually see the black burn marks on him, they should of kept it looking like that, part 5 and 6, it looks like a plastic mask.

The original nightmare and wes cravens new nightmare are my personal favorites, i love how they turn him from scary, homicidal, creeper and heathers young look to his darker more evil look and her understanding that there are worse things thn dreams.

The first Nightmare film I saw was when I was about six years old was Part 2: Freddy's Revenge. The ending, when Freddie's gloved hand bursts out through the woman's chest on the school bus really shit me up. It's a shame that the movies really went downhill after that and I was hoping that the new one was going to set the franchise back on track. Unfortunately, with Michael Bay involved, you just know that it is gonna suck balls. I'm gonna make my own remake and upload it in bits on youtube.

cool, man i remeber being scared shitless of freddie as a kid, having 2 sleep in moms bed..lol..now its not, as scary and my 6yr old son watches it al laughs, but i do remeber kids from my generation all scared 2 pieces of freddie, great character and scary movies, an icon! of horror!

I cant believe Robert Englund is not going to play Freddy in the new Nightmare on Elm Street movie (2010)! He IS Freddy. Its like making another Rocky movie but using another actor to play Rocky Balboa instead of Sylvester Stallone, it just wouldnt work.

Don't you think that this man is "burned out" from doing 7 sequels, not to mention standing still for 3-4 hrs putting on and taking off makeup between shoots?? Sometimes a fresh face is good in the case of casting Jackie Earl Haley as Krueger. I think it WILL work with Jackie, just give the guy a chance, for pete's sake.

It seems to me its all about making money of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise and they not to bothered what the fans think. You cant use a "fresh face" when it comes to Freddy, hes been around for too long and Robert Englund more or less created the character.

@GESSO217 You cant compare Frankinstine to Freddy, Freddy as much more personality and dialogue than Frankinstine. You can get away with other actors performing as Frankinstine, Jason, Michael Myers and Leather Face cos its not much to it and these charactors dont speak alot. Replacing Robert Englund will be a big mistake because no one else can be Freddy.

I disagree with that, noes3 and new nightmare were just as good as the original version imo. The rest, 2, 4, 5, and 6, I can understand why most people dislike them but I still enjoy them anyway. The original though will always be a classic.

Ok Robert should be worried because Jackie Earle Haley may top his performance. Ok Robert will always be Freddy but i heard the same thing with Jackie that happened with Robert. The cast and crew would be talking to him off-set and then bang when Action is yelled, he gets right in character same thing for Jackie.
Great replacement for Robert.

Rhorschach is taking on the helm as the new generations Freddy ... and I'm telling you guys ... AS A HUGE FREDDY FAN ... I was skeptic about a new Freddy movie without Robert Englund.
After seeing Jackie Earle Haley in WATCHMEN as Rhorschach ... Its got my seal of approval, I"m actually ANXIOUS for it! He is an amazing actor, and strange enough, he has a similar look to Englund, so it should be an awesome transition! I LOVE FREDDY!

I totally agree. Jackie Earle Haley certainly is a very good actor and a brilliant choice as Freddy. Its an Inspired choice, actually. After my initial resentment and disapproval, ive come to realize that this movie could be done brilliantly-IF THEY TAKE THEIR TIME. What was really lacking in all the Freddy movies was a sense of what Freddy was and where he came from. If they did good enough CG and design, it could really make skins crawl. But again, Jackie is the BEST possible choice.
