Then about the goal: if the goalie did come earlier and faster, he could have had the ball in mid-air. Otherwise, he should have had to wait till the ball was lower.

Then i have to agree with you that the pass isn't to bad. However, with a capable goalkeeper it would have ended is his hands. And that makes it a bad pass.
