It wasn't too bad- though since then the American dollar has fallen a lot, so it would be a whole lot more expensive now. For many months I searched on the internet to get good deals- plus going with my parents, we split the costs 3 ways and got rooms for 3 people, etc., so that also helped. This was the first and only time I've been outside of North America and I'm hoping some day I can afford to return- and see other parts of Europe too!
Thanks Morgan! I've never cared about money, I don't want fancy cars or a huge house or anything like that, but after making a few trips to some great places I was bit by the travel bug and now I wish I had the money to travel all the time!!!
:D
But since I can't afford it, I appreciate the trips I've had & if I manage to do any more I'll really appreciate it in a way people who travel all the time couldn't!
If you ever do get the chance though, Ireland is full of the nicest people!
Roger you are welcome, I am like you, I really don't want much in this life but just a sufficient amount to do me and my family by, as we cannot take the possession of this world with us. I have been to a few countries, France, Middle East, Brazil and I love to travel also. When one sees people from different cultures then ones gets a better understanding. I will certainly take a trip in the near future. I will message in few days its just I am very busy.
Yeah, so many people who are greedy & focus their lives on making more & more money are never satisfied- it consumes them until the day they die & when we die we all leave this life dirt poor no matter how much stuff we have during life!
But yeah, that's the thing about travel, whether to other countries or even here in the U.S., you get to meet other people, see other cultures. We are so lucky to live in a time where we can do that!!!
roger, you should have warned me you were in ireland lol,not to far away from me hehe, ive raced there once and its gt to be one of the best natural beuty places in thw world, seems so calm and lovely, hope you enjoyed your stay buddy
LOL! Yeah, if I'd known you & a couple of other great people over there when I went I'd have been so tempted to take a quick detour to say hi!!!
:P
Yeah, it was the trip of a life time! With the cost of travel going up all the time & the dollar so weak it could be a very long time or never that I get to return! But even at least I got the one chance and took it!!!
WOW!!! I never new you had been to Ireland?? There are so many great Medieval places like that in England too! You should have come over to England wile you were there! Great music roger! This one is in my Favs!!!
Thanks Paul! Yeah, I wish I'd been able to see even more stuff while I was over there and cross over to England, but even 7 days was rushed seeing the western half of Ireland! I'd love to have a year just to travel!!!
Yeah, my dad's ancestors came from Brandon to America & their Irish name was too hard to pronounce by English speakers so they gave it up & took the name of their home, so we definitely wanted to see it.
She was really nice! But then all the Irish people we met were nice!!!
Yeah, I thought it was extra special seeing a rainbow in Ireland-but there was no pot of gold or leprechaun!
LOL! The Western area of Ireland we were in still spoke Irish in many places & their English was more difficult to understand in some places! I had no idea how to pronounce so many names on the signs!!!
The one problem with going with my parents despite the fact my dad was on his best behavior ever was that we couldn't go to other places that my mom & I would have liked as he is totally inflexible-to have been so very close to England & not get to make a quick trip over was so hard!!!
gah it only takes like 10-15 minutes by a ferry! darn him! haha :D
i think that most places are said as theyre spelt, except in wales, because if you ask even the locals they dont know what they mean! they just use the english ones!! lmao,i think very few welsh can speak welsh,i think the irish signs are likely to be gaelic (native)
Yeah, but we actually stopped at Blarney Castle, as my mom & I really wanted to see it-we've flown some 5,000 miles & are there, we pull up & he sees all the crowds & tells us we're not staying & drives away! My mom & I were ticked off! Then when we got to Kenmare he decided he didn't feel like doing anything so he just watched a John Wayne movie on t.v.!!! Travel all the way to Ireland & watch some movie you've seen a hundred times? Mom & I explored the town without him!
LOL!!! Well mine is half insane, so maybe 2 would make one sane one!
:P
Hmmm, I'm not sure, I know my hair was darker by high school & still light brown early in grade school, so it probably got darker when I was 10 to 12. I'm so used to it being dark brown I forget that it used to be a lot lighter!
colour mines supposed to be is dark brown, but when i dye it it looks more like black untill a few months later, when the red starts showing through! some girls the otherday say to eachother, look at that kids hair! whats struck me is i was offended by the term kid,as they were younger than me, i think they liked it! lol, or it was funny where the wind was :D
Anyway, on our drive around the Ring of Kerry he wasn't stopping to look at things-it was his usual hurry up & not take any time to enjoy things so for one of the few times in my life I blew up at him & told him I wanted to see things, take pictures & not just drive by everything. He got mad, but he could tell my mom & I were both determined not to give in, so he actually started stopping at stuff & asking what we wanted!!! The rest of the trip was pretty good!!!!
Yeah, but it's usually not a good idea with my dad as he will hold a grudge normally and even if you fix the one problem he'll make you pay way too much to be worth it!
It's like when he accuses someone of losing something or messing something up. If it turns out he's the one to blame and you can prove it, he's more mad than if you just take the blame!!!
lmao! i dont get upset and annoyed for all of an hour oh no, i hold a serious grudge,no tfor a day or even a week,oh no, weeks, months! - just ask my moom!
LOL! Well, L will whip you into shape in no time!!! If you start holding a grudge she'll make you carry a 50 pound stone on your back in the 110 degree heat for an hour!
:P
The definition of Husband is "he who is trained by she"
LOL!!! One girl I worked with years ago had a boyfriend and she woke up one night and found him trying on her underwear! And he was a big guy!!!
:o
Yeah! It reminds me of that show "Keeping Up Appearances" when someone asked Richard how he deals with Hyacinth telling him what to do and he says it's fine, like when he was in the army- being told where to go and when & all his meals were served on time!
LOL! Thanks David! No, that was it! I had to save up a lot of money and still owed quite a bit for a while to afford it, but it was so worth it! I kept meaning to go and stay in England with my cousin and his wife, but the price of travel just keeps going up and the weak dollar makes it a really bad time to go outside the states! Not to mention I'm dirt poor right now!
:P
But if I can scrape together enough money in the future I'd love to return to Ireland as well as see England!!!
