  • M16 vs SAR21... I had used both rifle before so this is my conclusion. fast reload m16 can do better as i can release the mag with my right index finger. Scope on SAR21 fog out during morning mist. SAR21 suppose to be light weight but too bulky. need to dig for charging handle when i want to load it. I still prefer M16. Sorry if you don't agree with me.

  • THIS RIFLE IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!! I WANT ONE!!

  • yeah... we'll see how well your plastic peices of crap do agianst the AR style rifles in WW3.

  • @KILLERThreeSixNine So you want a WW3 or your just can't accept the fact that some guns are better than others?

  • still prefer M16...

  • I'm a senior NCC cadet, and I've gone through live firing with the SAR-21. Now in NCC they are teaching the cadets how to operate the SAR-21, not the M16 anymore. Personally I like the SAR-21 very much, the only problem is that without the scope you can hardly hit anything. Also , it's actually not supposed to be so heavy , but for safety purposes, the left rear end of the gun is fitted with bulletproof materials.

  • @Crazednuts our Sirs just went through with us on the basics of the sar21..but the idiot demonstrated on a M16...

  • Some of these guys don't look like real soldiers... They look like office jockies being called in for the commercial... :S

  • Im 13 years old and i have handled and fired a SAR before. Thumbs up and i will shoot some fuckin rednecks...

  • I only held this for 7 weeks, would have liked to hold it for a bit longer.

  • this gun > M16 and SAW.

  • i wish it was left hand friendly :( going in next year...

  • can this be used in full auto ?

  • @555hansy yes, watch the video before posting your comment(no offence)

  • why don't you guys chamber this rifle in a larger caliber , the 5.56 nato rounds sucks , especially for close distance combat , you need to hit your enemies with 3 shots before you can take him out .

  • @bunnyrabbit008 actually the 5.56 NATO round is quite effective, especially the new green tip ammunition. Sure it would knock a guy backwards off his feet, but when it enters the body it fragments and causes additional internal injuries to flesh, bones, and organs. Are there more effective rounds out there? yes, depending on what you are looking for. But the 5.56 still gets the job done and has killed many many people.

  • @BigChiefMike

You mean the semi armour piercing rounds ,right ?

Are u taking from real experience ?

Have u ever seen a knee cap flew off , caused by a nato 7.62 mm round ?

  • @bunnyrabbit008 never heard of a "semi armor piercing round" but it (the M855A1 round) is known to do better against hardened steel targets than the current 5.56 round being and is said to have out preformed the 7.62 NATO round. I have fired the rounds but i never shot someone with the M855A1 and the M855 then walked out to see the differences.

Not sure what you are talking about with a kneecap flying off from a 7.62 round or how it relates to what i was saying... but have YOU seen that happen?

  • @BigChiefMike

I mean the kneecap of a person on the run was blow off by a round of a nato 7.62 ! The FN fal was and is still my fav .

One you've hit your enemy with a single round, he wont get up for the second round, but not with teh 5.56 nato . The 5.56 can out run the performance of the 7.62 nato ?

Its no doubt that the 5.56mm nato round has a higher f/ps than a 7.62nato round, but about the energy of a 7.62nato round 3.500 J compare with 5.56 nato 1.800 j is a big diff

  • @BigChiefMike

we were using the 150grains FMJ BT ball rounds it was quite nasty !

compare with the 5.56nato, we use it on the FN minimi, from the experience of us about the 5.56nato especially an armed enmie on tyhe charge, better do use the 5.56mm .

We needed to fire about 5 rounds on him, but he was still on his feet !

  • @BigChiefMike

there are the green tip or armor piercing rounds for the 7.62nato also .

We used it on the FN MAG !

  • @BigChiefMike

have you ever heard of Hydrostatic shock?

if not try to google it and you'll know how a speeding bottle neck ammo bullet works on human flesh !!!

  • @bunnyrabbit008 obviously the 5.56 won't equal the stopping power of a 7.62, that's not want i said. I simply said it out preformed the 7.62 in certain fields (then again the US Army's idea of out preforming is clearly fucked up considering they say the current direct impingement M4/M16 is the best weapon the US military could possibly have even though it's been out preformed plenty of times). I was simply stating the 5.56 is still a good round, it has its strength and weaknesses like all rounds

  • @BigChiefMike

I agree the 5.56 nato is a quite accurate round the M4/M16 is not the best weapon ! it has its plus and min. Many US soldiers died in Vietnam caused of malfunction of the weapon. The M16 or M4 doesn't come with a gas piston. how to explain it to you?

anyway the M4 or M16 is not someone that doesn't clean it weapon on time. Why the 5.56nato is so populare coz of politic, when USA was still has the leading role during the cold war.

  • @BigChiefMike

nowadays the American have consider that the 5.56nato is not a very effectice round they also like to replace it with the 6.8mm new round. Search for the 6.8mm round here on youtube ! It has almost the equal power with the Russian 7.62x 39round, the 7.62x 39 can be compare with the American 30-30 win round. It is a mid range round with a heavy punch.

  • @BigChiefMike

Ohh and about this sar 21 assault rifle . Great Idea !

But look at the anatomy of the SAR 21 , the bullpup design ! for a normal non bullpup rifle is still ok with the left handed shoooters , but for a bullpup stock , its a pain in the ass for all left handed shooters. This SAR 21 can score better if it comes with changeable bolt and bolt carrier for the left handed shooters , just like the Styer AUG.

Ohh and the 3x fixed optic , change it with a detacheble one with a 20mm rail.

  • @BigChiefMike

I think a new round can solve the problem , the Heckler & Koch G11 Round, it weight 50% less and has 60% the size of the 5.56nato round . the SAR21 will kick ass if it chambered in a such round of a larger cailber . The size and the weight of the present ammos have been a big problem for all the weapons desing from the past till nowadays.

I've carry the FN fal for years , Damn , the 20 rounds 7.62nato clips weight as a rock !

  • @bunnyrabbit008 give SAF money= Problem solved

  • @sexkinger

This weapon is not for export ? if its not for the export then its an awesome weapon !

  • @bunnyrabbit008 3 shots? Even a .22lr can kill in 1 shot

  • @sexkinger

yes , even a 22 short can kill if you hit the right place ,if not the enemy will kill you before he die !

  • we should have sticked to the m16 Singapore. just an opinion, ya'll noe best

  • @tgod4real m16 suffers from lots of reliability issues, and developing our own weapon lets other countries have the impression that we have some kind of capability to do this kind of thing

  • i hope i can use this rifle when i go NS . how to we get different types of gun in NS , other than our standard rifle ? i'm not in NCC .... so......

  • I just got word that the Singapore army has no plans to acquire the SAR-21A

  • @sexkinger Too bad leh, it seems to be better than original SAR 21...

  • @ongyewhwee well what to do

  • Well now then I've got real problem, my master hand is my right, but master eye is left.

  • @VidM0ds This is where the SAR-21 comes in. with the Red dot sight, You can aim using 2 eyes rather than using 1. I had problems with the M16 sights so I was ditched with the SAR-21 and god oh boy how I loved the weapons sights!

  • SAR 21 specs description starts at 4:00 .. lol

  • Our freaking government spent tons of money on research and development of this rifle for what ? for a reason to reduce the amount of time you guys spent n mataining the m16 a1 S and to provide a more ergonomic and user friendly rifle , yet you guys just complain and whine on all the bad points of the rifle , do you all even appreciative the lack of jams and the easiness of field stripping it and oiling it over the m16?

  • @shermanlee85856 but once it jams, you will need to field strip to get the bullet out.

  • So which is which first? TAR-21, Vektor CR-21 or SAR-21. Or is the SAR-21 is a "borrowed" design of the two? I know TAR-21 came 1st, so that means it makes us...erm...CC?

  • rate of fire is a bit slow...

  • @pkpk614350 the sar-21A will have a rate of fire of 900rpm

  • @sexkinger Heard it is lighter, have piticanny rail, removavle hand guard for attaching GL etc.Any news when it will become SIR for Singapore Army?

  • @ongyewhwee It is already SIR for Singapore Army. M16S1 are only used for BMT but NS men are given SAR21 just after their BMT

  • @MrLolx2u

    not really.

in bmt we have the sar 21 now,

i have fren serving as a sgt in one of the company

  • @MrLolx2u Now BMT also use SAR-21?

  • @ongyewhwee they say that the first batch of production models are coming out in 2011, but so far no news yet?

  • @sexkinger really? it's good

  • the charging handle is the center piece, can be flipped to both left or right to cock the weapon with either hands depends on which position you are in(singaporean soldier)

  • ive fired it before and im 16 :D

  • @XTrevvion

im 16 an i have my SIG-550 next to my bed =)

( i have a special premission because im in a sprt shooter team )

  • @suparetusiman wats sprt ?

  • 21 stands for 21 century.

  • I was lucky enough to have used both AR15 and SAR 21.. I prefer SAR21.. Comfortable, Easy to clean, Gave me my Marksman...

  • looks like the tar -21.. Tar looks better..

And from what i understood his performances are better too

  • am left handed... for 18 years and they expect me to suddenly just change to right hand...

and my right hand cant make it...

try out the M16 before with the deflector but i never got the chance for sar-21

but after looking at fourms and stuff i starting to get very sad...

  • @shotingstars well i'm a left hander to, but you just have to adapt

  • @shotingstars I'm a left hander too!it's a bit hard as our left eye is our master eye.once I asked my officer if a deflector can be used for sar 21s in the near future,he said "dream on" ): and they all laughed ): haha

  • Nice video - shame about the SAR 21. It's a clumsy weapon to handle with poor features like difficult mag change and a unrefined trigger pressure. I suppose its simple to use which means minimal training for the kids doing NS in Singapore. Also left handers are not catered for.

  • 1:14 omg was that a rubber ball?

  • Steyr AUG

  • no matter how good the rifle is, if a retard use it, the gun is useless.

no matter how lousy the riflle is, if a marksman use it, it will be a different story, so stop commenting on the rifle, why not talk about SAF soldier's accuracy :)

  • honestly speaking, bullpup design has some disadvantages, like the smoke might irritate nose after firing and the safety of the shooter..

but no matter what, good job Singapore for producing such a good rifle!!

  • Why does everybody talk retard on this video?

  • buy from the mama shop XD

  • GUYS! Its damn easy to disassemble and assemble the Sar 21!!! If your a singaporean and in sec1 pls join NCC (National Cadet Corps)in your school... i am currently in sec2 and did the assembling in the NCC Camp Steel just a few days ago... you will have fun i promise you that!

  • @Syahmi246 i going camp steel tomorrow

  • @anoyous HAHA!!!! gdgd... is fun right? but the sir is irritating

  • SAR 21 has to be better then the Bushmaster ACR! A perfect gun for the USMC.

  • SAR 21 = that the most crappy rifle i ever use. one drop and gone liao. buy new rifle

  • @97432561 how can u buy a riffle? u crazy ah? the sar 21 is the best weapon in singapore... tried it in my NCC

  • kick ass stuff. Singapore has one the most top notch military weapons

  • SAR 21 is one unique weapon that will never be featured in any video game which is good by the way.

  • hmm sar 21 is not really a popular gun right now in the 21st century not alot of country even knew this gun

  • @ranger0504

The whole world knows this weapon. it is cheap and reliable. And is used by a few european states.

Unfortunately it still does not surpass the overall performance of the M16A4 .

  • Cool video. I wish they did this with every gun. Where did you find that video?

  • Did a little research and I found out that the Tar-21 started being developed before the SAR-21, but did not exit the development stage untill 2000-2001, while the Sar-21 was developed during 1996. Both models borrow from the AUG, but they are both diffrent designs and are thus, not simmilar. And if you look at actual pictures of both weapons, you can see that they dont look the same at all. I wish people did a little research before posting on the interwebz.

  • @andrei1231 I love you (singaporean here)

  • @ DKassassin219:

The SAR design was taken from the TAR, and the Steyr AUG... The TAR was made way before this...

  • @PwnaHacker That's when you're wrong. BOTH the SAR and TAR used the Steyr AUG design.

  • THIS IS SHIT

  • Really there wernt any auto fire in that gun? I wish the creators could make a better weapon that could counter that weapon

  • singapore has only 150k of these guns and has 200k m16s. so most of the guys will be touching the shitty m16.

  • @leangle1988 There's only 72k people enlisted themselves in the army. I guess some of the reserves would use the m16

  • @AstatineMime ok nice coz im gonna go NS 3 years later =D

  • @leangle1988 Me too lol

  • now i know where the tavor got its design from

  • Every singapore guys will touch that gun =D

  • @TheNazified

    Unfortunately. no. hahaha.

I think the sar21 has a required rank to be able for you to call it your wife.

  • man its heavy but it is good

  • but at the start of the clip, it showed the soldiers 'spraying' in the air

  • The SAR 21 was made to counter M16's problems, like high recoils, causing the chest or shoulders to ache after long usage.M16 wasn't design to spray, instead design to be accurate and effective even at long range. In modern warfare it isn't mainly highest on firepower wins, but precision and accuracy.A guy and spam the whole mag of bullets and only hit the target a few times, whereas a guy with a semi-auto-only gun get to hit the target 99% of the time.So it is obvious why it can't fire automatically.

  • this is one of the things that make me proud of singapore :)

  • I'll pick an ACR or a SCAR over this gun anytime in a battle...

  • To be honest,i handled the SAR 21 and its more easier to aim and fire.

It is heavy but much better than the M16 which was sometimes difficult to manage because of its long length of nearly 1m(0.99cm)

I can't remember how long the M16 was but i prefer the SAR 21 since its very comfortable.

  • @MrKickler1 agreed. i've handled both the sar and m16 and the sar 21 ismuch easier to strip, assemble, and use.

  • dudes, stop talking bad about the sar21, they are now making a new model the sar 21A in the near future which counters a little/some/most of the shit you guys dont like, and if you are still not happy with the sar 21a... then i have nothing to say

  • @sexkinger I heard it will be slightly shorter but same barrel length, charging handle on top left hand of the weapon, higher rate of fire at 900rpm.

  • @ongyewhwee lol i think the charging handle is at the right hand side of the weapon?

  • @sexkinger No it is the left side i think, try to google up some SAR 21A pictures and see for yourself lol.

  • @ongyewhwee lol btw if you think that black part is the charging handle... no i think thats the bolt catch

  • @sexkinger Maybe, but the SAR21A will most likely be given to the minority.

  • maybe, just hope by the time i serve the gun would be standard for infantry

  • @VidM0ds well, if it really starts to be fielded in units then maybe the infantry and spec ops units would use it first

  • steyr copy

  • haha it looks like a steyr aug kind of haha

but looks dont make the gun...

  • @TheSamuraininjaguy yea. the sar does'nt have automatic fire. but its still a good gun tho :)

  • For those who don't know, the SAR-21 has been on service since 1999 and the TAR-21 since 2001. So basically Israel borrowed some of the Sar's design features. So GTFO to haters.

  • It is heavy -_-

  • @Pitzfirez What did you expect? Plastic/Styrofoam weapon?

  • @Kenoid8557 It is heavier then other guns from china US etc etc...

  • Type 95 is the best even though i am a singaporean

  • @MrJurongwest Yup. Rifles are for accuracy, whereas the ultimax is for spamming :)

  • Gun pornz!!!! Ftw

  • it like the iphone 4, not for left hander. Asking left hander to shoot the rifle using right hand is unthinkable! Seriously flaw, like the iphone!

  • @XtraYT im completely left handed but i shoot right... its no big issue

its like field hockey i do that right handed too... after a short while it just becomes natural to shoot or play or whatever the other way round and going left handed feels just as weird as it would to a right handed person... its no biggie :)

  • THESE YOUTUBE COMMENTS ARE MAKING MY BRAIN HEMORRHAGE

  • Comment removed

  • Doesnt Sar 21 looks kinda like a Tavor Tar21 Steyr Armey Universal Gewehr hibrid? Look closely and youll notice!

  • @ekici123 Actually, it looks more like a AUG and G36 hybrid then a AUG and TAR-21 hybrid.

  • interesting rifle, ididnt know that the singapore army where using such a master piece, good for them

  • @curseofa5r5a

haha yeap. u'll be surprised at what singapore army has in its millitary backyard..couple of apaches..leopard tanks..nice sniper riffles and ... shit loads more.

  • @jaffabar69 nice, do they have a internal war or something?

  • @curseofa5r5a

    hahaha nooo wayy..

they just buy stuff with their massive GDP

  • @jaffabar69 nice, very nice, o gonna read some more about singapore army

  • American m4/m16 is out of date.

  • How do you compare the SAR-21 with the M16 and the AK-47? Does the SAR-21 jam just like the M16?

  • @dafranx I didn't compare it to the AK, and it is closer to a G36 mixed with a AUG.

  • @dafranx

the Sar-21 jams occasionally from time to time but the rate of doing so is less then an AK-47

  • @jaffabar69 really? I doubt so. The SAR has small working parts, and is more likely to jam. The AK has been world-recognised as a premium reliability rifle.

  • i think they should make a sniper version since it is more for a aim and shoot

  • @airbusmanic380 almost avery assault rifle ion the field rigth now (exept the ak 47 designed to deliver a high number of bullets to a designated area, bit still used like an aim and shot weapon) are meant to be aim and shot weapons, the fully automatic its used in emergencies, very close range encounters and supresive fire

  • There are many maintenance problems with this gun one of which being the iron sights break easily under harsh conditions and there isnt a left hand support for this.. There are many left handed soldiers our there... There isnt a real reason not to make this gun ambidextrous when 95% of the Assault Weapons made today are ambidextrous.

  • the sar21 has big recoil, i've used it for live range

  • is it just me or does it look just like the tar 21? did they copy it or something?

  • @sronsr

They took design elements from the Tar and Aug but it's a completely different rifle.

  • my favorite rifle........

    ...........

  • sar 21 is my favorite rifle.....

the rifle is so light depend then other rifle...........

n the recoil nt so heavy 2.......

in the day cn use scoop,in the night ,we cn use led.........

  • they wish they had the Tavor TAR 21

  • @akseakayaker Saying Tavor TAR is like saying Tavor Tavor Automatic Rifle. >_> Putting Tavor infront of TAR, trying to make yourself look smart kind of just fails.

  • @rsnoob666

    tavor from israeli right

  • @TheHacklife Israel? yes.

  • This gun is so call based on the m16 and inspired by the styler aug , it is to upgrade singapores amoury and lower matainence cost , it is based on the m16 to help older veterans who are use to the m16 to adapt

  • it is also suitable for military police.

  • This reminds me starship troopers , awesome gun

  • whats better, SA80 or the SAR21?

  • @Fleax1973 Both rifles suck huge hairy/sweaty balls.

  • wtf is this a commercial?!?!?!?!?! 0.o

  • Comment removed

  • During Singapore Army Open House, I did try this SAR21 and got 5/5 for 300m range. Maybe lady's beginner's luck but I'm left-hander and it is quite easy to use. :)

  • Haha.. Been That, Done That.. Marksman dude.. LoL...

  • Comment removed

  • yep yep

  • Looks like a hybrib between a TAR-21 and an L85A2 with a AUG A1 scope. weird.

  • TAVOR and FAMAS are still better, it can be switch for a left handed shooter.

  • u mean the SAR 21 does nt hav guns 4 left handers?

  • yep, the ejection port SAR-21 is on the right side and build permanently, since the bullpup design which make the ejection port close to the cheek of the firer and it is impossible and practically stupid to fire it with the left hand (the empty shells will ejected toward your check and burn it) while TAVOR and FAMAS the ejection port can be switch from one side to another, FN2000 the empty shells will ejected forward.

  • It is very odd that even though the technology for switching the ejection port to the left has existed since the days of the FAMAS and Steyr AUG, the designers of the SAR 21 did not include it.

  • i guess the designer of SAR-21 never did do any real combat and was a right handed fellow where they expect everyone will shoot with the right hand too.

  • Sad to say, that limited perspective is the chink in the Singapore armour.... and I'm Singaporean.

  • well it is true..anyway they are not looking to sell the weapon to any country anyway..if they did, they will lose to other weapon such as TAVOR and FAMAS in combat effectiveness but it they sell it cheap that is another different story which they have also to compete with AKs or left over M-16... they might go head to head with SA-80, which i guess SAR-21 will do a lot better than SA-80.

  • @wyunaboy the casings will not fly to your cheek, it flies forward i wud say at a 30 degree or so angle?....i've seen lefties fire it in service, not a problem.....

  • @wyunaboy Actually, on the SAR-21, the ejection port is in front, and the shells eject in front.

  • @SpartanReviewer actually the gun ejection port has a major flaw it doesnt always eject the casing forward resulting in injuries it has been tested that in a mag more than 10% of the bullets do not eject forward causing injuries to left-handed soldiers. The Sar21A prototype has yet to fix this flaw.... Standard infantry models weigh above 8 pounds and as a rifle of the 21st centry 460M effective range cant be compared to a lighter m4-carbine which can reach up to 550m effective range

  • this weapon is by far the answer to the world's design and engineering problems shortcomings and deficiencies. And the SAF has the ultimate personal assault rifle the world can only dream of saying they made it.

  • So many dumb idiots posting things like "Nice gun but I prefer my AR-15 DUR HUR" Seriously, when exactly did you get a chance to use the SAR-21? Did you serve in the Singapore military? No I didn't think so. Shut yer trap. The AR-15/M4/M16 is an obsolete POS whose day has come. I applaude any arms manufacturer for being willing to present an alternative to the sad antiquated rifle of the US Armed force. It's about time that our troops had something better.

  • nice weapon but I prefer the AR/M-16, anyway the 5.56x45mm 62grain relies only on fragmentation and witha 20inch barrel it will fragment only within 150meters max. beyond that distance it's just a .223 caliber tack driver.
