Hell, Black Dahlia Murder gives the same thing over and over and...the solo.

@guitardude901 You have a point, but they're some bands that mix it up and add elements of progression, symphony and stuff to their music. Take Opeth for example. Some bands just drive drop d tuned guitars, thick bass and blast beats...and use guttural vocals and in the end, when you hear a random death metal band..you can't tell who they are unless you know the song. These death metal bands will come and go and no one will care. It's not like any of them are Death, they're all formulated bands.

When you look at the more popular Death Metal bands (ex : Bands you mentionned) they all have a little something that set them apart (Nile: Egyptian themed death metal band) compared to more obscure bands like vomitory, even if they've been in the scene for awhile. Also maybe you're not an experience death metal listener, so you have a harder time putting the bands apart, which is understandable.
