1. Iran wants to have a peaceful nuclear program, so it can have cheap energy to run the country and export oil, so they don't have to use up oil for their own use.

2. Iran wants to have a nuclear bomb, so the US or any other country doesn't mess with it, so they can protect themselves. Makes sense, I want to keep and bear arms to protect myself. They probably also want on to bomb Israel, but they won't do it, because it is a suicide mission.
3. The US wants to invade Iran to prop up the US dollar aka Federal Reserve Note (FRN). The petrodollar is on the ropes and Iran doesn't want to be subjected to the fall of the the US Empire. They probably would also like to see the the US Empire fall sooner rather than later. The Iranian Bourse is more of a threat than a nuclear weapon.
UN is a joke now; many countries can make hundreds or thousands of nukes and others if only make energy or suspect of making just one nuke get sanctions.
Who cares its all FUD let'em have the nuclear weapon, if they ever reach the stupidity of using it, it would mean the end of that country, politicly at the least(including the religious nuts behind the scenes).
