@donze52 I did a little bit of umpiring for peewee league when I was a kid in high school. Boy, some of those parents can get nasty when your call goes against junior. My experience as a kid is that neighborhood pickup games without parent spectators was a whole lot more fun than league play.
I now live in Florida now but I remember Mr. Bill back in Jr. High selling snow cones outside the public pool in his van. What a great man for such a good community.
I was thinking as you told the first part of the story that you should have hit him with a bat. Another great story and I look forward to hearing more.

yep in Hamlet it was always a free for all, but few ever went home crying,
from base ball to foot ball, but I seldom got to go to town, so the red rider BB gun
was my friend and hobby. with the next farm 5 miles away.

My goal was to be near my own two girls as they grew up, since I
myself started life in an ophanage. family is everything, but now that they are grown,
I consider all the town kids my family,
free snow cones every once in a while,
