I m going to add a switch into mine b/c well it had one but it was on another board and connected via wires. I will be adding that, a 9V battery and I will be trying to make both channels of the audio come out the speaker b/c its wired funny. my amp was recycled from a gameboy advance amp/vibration controller. the amp IC is not an LM386 but a 1 watt stereo version. im not sure what the chip number is.
I build an amp like this out of the guts to a game boy advance audio amp that sucked by itself but basically I added the speaker from an ESPN sportscaster mic toy and I just need a 9V battery clip and maybe somehow to mount the amp in the tin. i will make a video about it when its finished its not finished yet
Talk. You could say something about this device. Also, how can a simple passive attenuator (tone control) be incorporated with the fewest possible parts and size? Schematic and talk, please sir--or miss. I can only see your brawny arm, so I assume you are either a male American or Ukranian of either sex.
Lol, watch some of my other vids, I'm all dude.. I Have many other video requests, I may go in to more detail some day with this amp.. But for now, I'll tell you:
It is an lm386 based amp. Search yahoo for "lm385 datasheet" the PDF has the schematic. As for tone controls you want bass and treble? or just tone? You want cheep or easy?
I have built some amps with this IC, not the best, but the most available. I would like to build a simple treble attenuator and bass rolloff (switch?) if possible. Any ideas, sir?
thats bad ass ive seen these kits available on the internet and they are pretty easy to put together and rewarding after you finish them as you have an amp
Search yahoo or geeogle for "LM386 schematics" Or the datasheet.. The datasheet has example schematics.. If you have any trouble finding them, PM me your email address and I'll send you the info.
Same goes for anyone wanting to know.. Thanks for posting.
actually the KA2209 audio amp IC is in stereo so if you use that you can get stereo but youll need more parts and a different circuit, I have a mega mike toy and it has a KA2209 amp inside it one channel for the mike and the other for the sound effects but both mike and sfx come out of the same speaker
actually the KA2209 is the same size as the LM386, unless what you mean is the additional parts like the caps and all, you have to fit the battery and speaker inside as well so youre right, i could make a better amp if i had all the parts and instructions. i have soldering experience.
No doubt you could make a better amp, this is just a 1/2 watt lm386 mono amp. It's almost the bottom of the line. as far as IC driven amps go.
If you're serious about better amps, I could post a couple vids of my tube amps or my 200 watt RMS amps. But the entire point of this video was to show an amp that sounds not bad at all, in an altoids tin. It is so obvious that this amp is not the best amp ever. a child could make a better amp, no doubt. In fact, I made a better tube amp when I was 12.
true, I might take a few pics of the mainboard of my toy megaphone and send them to you, its probably not gonna sound that great but id love to be able to use this thing as an amplified speaker, I must have tons of stuff that ive hacked into amps see my other videos
sorry about this but I have a red toy megaphone voice changer and it has the 5 on of switches and Id like to tap the amp inside it its an LM386 8 pin IC and i want to be able to play my mp3 player thru it ive tried different points on the board but they all sound terrible and its not loud enough where is the line out from the voice changer its a COB black blob. im still looking for it, i got the ground part of my input on the - of the battery now i just need the right place to put the other wire
Search yahoo for "lm386 data sheet" and you will find it. You may need a simple preamp to increase the input power before inputting to the lm386. You may also need to bias the input to clean the signal.. If the lm386 has no gain set, it will be at the default 20 gain, you can add a 10uf cap to change the gain to 200, add a resistor or a pot to change the gain level.
If you still need help, leave me a msg and I'll give you my email and you can send me pics. This account or paintballingguy.
But i want to be able to use it as a megaphone still while utilising the amp inside, I hope im not bugging you too much with this, if i am then im sorry

Update on the megaphone i've found all the pins I needed and ive hacked this thing see it on my channel "hacked toy megaphone voice changer".

whats that thing you insert to turn on the amp? couldnt you just add an on off switch instead?
coondogtheman1234 2 years ago
As stated in the video description, this project was %80 recycled. The only parts that were new were the battery and the piece of project board..
Yes you could add a switch instead, I didn't have an old switch kicking around and didn't want to use a new one.. I used a jumper and terminal pins.

then you wouldn't be able to fit it into an altoids tin. I've made many other amps too. may of them better than this one.

tube amps are good but they arnt designed to run portable unless you use an inverter, and tube watts have more beef than transistor watts

For sure, But RMS is RMS.
