  • bloom is a gob

  • what lens did u use for 1.2? 85mm?

  • '

is this camera can do that double clear focus as depth of field

  • Sorry, but this was not helpful by any means.

  • @Lindhe94 it isn't meant to be helpful. it's a trailer

  • @Lindhe94 for a beginner yeah...

  • If you live in England or another particularly windy country. Don't shoot on the beach, use a bit of common sense.. Sand is a big threat to your dslr.

  • That's perfectly what I need! I should buy it ;)

  • thank you!

  • what are your recommended settings and lense for shooting the stars, milky way etc?

  • Cool video man. DSLR is the future!

  • @maxxImmedia Sad to say but mirrorless cameras are taking over

  • Quick question, say I was shooting in 720p @ 60 fps. I adjust the shutter speed lower to say 60 or all the way up to 800. Does that affect the smoothness of the video or change frame rate when playing back?

  • i change the exposure to compensate a lot. What if you don't have the option to switch lens. How do you fix that? Change the f stop then the exposure if needed ?

  • WTF....did i miss something ? oh ...i did......the off button for this vid !.....total crap.....you teach nothing......n by the way get a nice set of ND filters......tut tut n i thought i would learn something from this vid.........i hold on i did ....i learnt how to waist 5mins and 10 secs :(

  • Damn teaser, I thought I was going to learn something here :/

  • what lens did you use on the beginning

  • thank you for this trailer

  • it all matters what music u put on while the video... :D

  • that video response I did of "Goodbye Gilbert" is a result of what I learnt from this video.

  • i could do a better job honestly. ive learned alot with the basic equipment i got

  • Nice one

  • Subject matters:

    PORN

  • Thanks very good tutorial!!!!

  • I love this tutorial

  • lol 3:55 looks like a rc sim^^

  • D 7000 1080p 24p video mode is more better then Canon :) i have both & feel that NIkon D 7000 with in 24p shooting :D

  • off topic but what screen protector are you using?! Cheers!

  • 3:30

you didn't lower it because you will loose data, you lowered it cause auto-brightness calculates the average light value and the shutter, and not the brightness you want to give the subject eg people, so u have to overwrite it's suggestion for you're needs, without external editing there is no connection with quality though!

  • @speedgamer01 He doesn't mean quality as the detail loss, he means completely white areas or hot spots which can't be edited in post. If you under-expose it, you will get much more detail and it's easier to push the brightness up in post than pushing it down while you will still see those hot spots!!!

  • @TomasCimma Yes i know, but thereotically the best is to set the exposure correctly at the scene of recording, post editing will result in data loss doesnt matter wether the pixels are over or underexposed. The only difference is that people are more sensitive to overexposed data loss than the under exposed data loss.

  • @speedgamer01 It does make sense. The word "theoretically" made me give your post a thumbs up :D

  • Excellent thank you! I'm looking into this camera for video and this has really helped :)

  • I bought this video after seeing this clip, horrible waste of money... should be called everything to buy if your rich. All they do is show you terribly expensive things to add to your camera.

  • @redemptionshill Have you been able to find a good alternative? I'm looking for a DVD on 550D videography. Or any good DVD on using a DSLR for videography. thanks.

  • Thanks for the advice Philip! But dude, maybe in between shoots you should do some jumping jacks. In you're recent videos you are looking too bloated man! Take care mate!

  • "I've only seen the sunlight twice in England"...... Where do you live, in the basement or something?

    But good video anyway

  • @SLVRwill7 It was a joke. Stop taking life too seriously.

  • Cool

  • I'm new to Dslr shooting and since I've purchased I have been checking out the work of Philip bloom. I shoot with Sony fx1000 mostly but it's amazing what these Dslr and super 35mm sensors are capable of. I shot a video last month for a bay area rap artist named blast holiday. Check out blast holiday "my iniquities". Shot with 7d with the kit lens mostly(28-135mm) and a few shots done with the nifty 50. Also search baby bobble fresh. They were both last minute productions.

  • i'm not spending £59.95 on this...

  • 2:25 any more fucking gadgets and that would be C3PO

  • which base plate you're using for the camera?

  • 2:37 Amen to that mate hahaha

  • dude... do u clean ur camera... (dnt mean to crticize but thats what got me frst)... Great Video tho.. thumbs up...

  • How much do these cameras go around at? Cuz I've been interested in photography and I'm really good at it. Although I want to get involved in videography too. PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!!!!!

  • Do you mind filling me in on the tripod you have? thanks my man

  • Great tips!

  • Wouldnt using a picture profile be a bad idea? Color correcting should be done in post production, so youre not locked into one color set to work with.

  • DUDE WHATS WITH YOUR SHIRTS?

  • Hi Philip, thank you for your insight, I've recently acquired a canon EOS 7D and bumped onto your sight by accident, could you forward an email address as I have a few questions which I'm hoping you might be able to answer..

  • At 2:42 his aperture is set at 1.2 but my 7D only goes down to 3.5. Is that a lens thing?

  • @bruvvamoff That's all about the lenses, in his video he use prime lens probably 50mm f1.2 L

  • @bruvvamoff Yep.

  • @bruvvamoff yes it is a lens thing, you probably have the 17-55mm kit lense, which doesnt go lower than that,

  • I have recently upgraded from the 400D to 7D. I'm looking at doing occaisional vids. You didn't once mention the term Ext Mic, let alone the one u were using or what you advise. I know the 7D has a built in mic but the least you could have done was mention the one you were using. You didn't record anything & play it back to show the outcome. I found this vid left a lot of questions un-answered. And it certainly didn't explain 'Everything i need to know' it was more of a 'What i prefer to do'

  • @whitewingsrich It's a Rode VideoMic that he is using which is the best bang for your buck external mic you can get for your camera.

  • @whitewingsrich it does say this is only a trailer

  • @whitewingsrich its a trailer mate.. says it at the end of the video and in the title..

  • @whitewingsrich It's only a trailer you banana

  • @whitewingsrich This is a trailer. Are you commenting on this trailer or the DVD? Because perhaps he does comment on the external mic on the DVD. Obviously he's not gonna answer all your questions in a trailer; then what would be the point of selling the DVD? Read the title before commenting lol.

  • @whitewingsrich "A short trailer for the DVD tutorial" Get the full edition if you want to learn more.

  • @whitewingsrich rhode shotgun mic, and thats the older one.

  • Very nicely done, Well produced, Good info for any 7d owner.

  • hahaah aint that a bitch, hahaha learn how to buy $5,000 worth of lense hahaha

  • Awesome Video! I learned sooo much!

  • Why not just use an ND Fader to get the exposure down?

  • @AndoCalrissian1 Second that, ND fader would do the job with the lens you have and its much much cheaper!!!

  • @AndoCalrissian1 That's what he did n00b

  • @soneeqboom He did not use an ND Fader, he closed the iris (higher aperture) and increased the shutter speed to 1/200... an ND fader screws onto the front of the lens and drops the amount of light that can physically enter the camera.

  • @AndoCalrissian1

If we could see the whole vid, that's what he would have done... use an ND filter.

  • @AndoCalrissian1 what the ND fader is¡?¡?

  • @Hassenmusic An ND fader is a rotating style filter that allows you to keep your settings where they should be. Basically keeps light from getting in the camera. Sunglasses for you camera, lol.

  • @AndoCalrissian1 IS THIS... hardwere.. softwere¡?¡?¡? something i got to download¡??¡¡ "thanks by the way.. all pices of info help me sooo soo so much"

  • @Hassenmusic no it's like a lens cap that filters light

  • @AndoCalrissian1 ND filter

  • @AndoCalrissian1 ando gets a point class.

  • @AndoCalrissian1 If you watch the full video, he will talk about ND Fader right after this.

  • @AndoCalrissian1 Yeah, wtf...

  • @AndoCalrissian1 If you noticed he was about to explain that before the clip cut short...it's a teaser

  • What software was used for this?

I'm trying to import my clips into Sony Vegas and tried many different codecs but I can't seem to get it to work and it's really stressing me out.

  • does the 7d auto focus during the video or do you have to focus at the beginning and just deal with it?????????????????? please anyone

  • @yeahitsmateo It only auto focuses at the beginning and then it's manual from then on

  • what did u use to record audio on the 7d ?

  • What's wrong with changing the shutter speed for the right exposure..?

  • @AlTyler138

Because when you change the shutter speed it will change the look of the shots, say for instance in this case it would give you a choppy image, rarely should you change your shutter speed when shooting video from 1/60th, photo however is a different story =)

  • @TheCrasher 1/50th is the optimum shutter speed for video.

  • @zume2600 Thanks. Im a photo guy.

  • What tripod is he using?

  • Learn how to shoot great video. Step One: buy 4 thousand dollars worth of lenses... Dumb...

  • @Birdagi so what?

  • @Birdagi because using shitty lenses, the most important part of any setup, makes sense on a 7D... and besides, you can get for example a Canon 50mm 1.4 prime for around $300 and that will make for great picture quality.

  • @Birdagi Plus an additional few thousands of dollars worth of rigs. Must be a tutorial for Speilberg & Cameron.

  • @Birdagi I'm going to guess you're not into cameras and you're just trying to crack a joke. If you have a dslr you are well into the thousand already. Add on's are a must for the professional (which hes more advertising too, obviously not the common shooter). A professional photographer has around 10-15 thousand in photography equipment. 4000 is reasonably average.

  • @Jeconomy If your a pro photographer you dont need to buy a dvd to show you how to use use gear. It should be aimed at people who want to get the best results out of the box.

  • @Birdagi haha, you are right, the camera itself can't do anything, but the lenses, the more expensive lens, the better quality it will provide :P

  • @Birdagi u just need 2 lol

  • @Birdagi You are so right. The T2i kit lens can do wonders for your film. But, no, it seems like every filmmaker out there with rich parents needs to have every lens to compete with Hollywood. "Oh, I gotta get these cool lens or that or my film will suck!" Please.

  • @conewells Assuming you mean the 18-55mm, it is better than it's name, but there's a simple reason not to use it for filming: The focus ring sucks which is quite important to most filmmakers. Furthermore the spinning front-element doesn't really work good with polarizers. A 3.5 aperture isnt to compelling for low light shooting either. Consindering there are lenses like samyang 35mm 1.4 for around 300 bucks, with a great focus ring and a superb image quality. The kit lens doesn't look too good.

  • @Birdagi i have that now :D

  • it looks dark at the beginning

  • i would really like to purchase this DVD because i'm saving up for the 7D, i would if it was 10 to 12 pounds but 44 pounds??

im working so hard to get this camera and it's going to set me back about 1500 pounds with the lens and accessories, so 44 pounds is just way to much!

    :(

  • @regisfun Buy the Canon Rebel T2i. The same video quality, but the 7d has more tricks.

  • too bad the canon 5d mark 2 is only 30 fps =/

  • @frankytap there is an firmware update on the canon homepage.. 24 and 25 are supported now too ;)

  • the music is from final fantasy ^__^

  • good vid dude

  • You dont have to buy this DVD. I certainly dont think its worth the money.

All this information is free from websites and tutorials on the internet. and often far more comprehensive.

  • Great DVD got it yesterday ,must say that now i have started to shoot
