Everything was great except for the last part of the animation where the creature suddenly begins walking across the road. It looks too fast and robotic in my opinion. But the tracing was really nice.
does someone know.. if there is also a plugin like these for maya ? because everyone say maya is the best in modeling but if u have CAT for 3dmax why animate in maya because I have seen CAT plugin it's really powerfull it beats maya in animation :S.. it's very stupid that autodesk made a powerfull tool like CAT for max but not for maya so in maya I have to make a walkcycle just with hand ? :S can someone explain ?..
is there any way you could do a tutorial on how you turned your character into a biped? this looks amazing and would love to try this technique. thanks adam.
ok i know what you used, but what version of 3Dmax *back then* and the biped setup (CAT plugin)," were can i get it? and how to use is :D becous i realy want to try this too ;)
How long is a piece of string? How hard is a picture to paint? It depends on your technique and skill. Once you learn the trade, it no longer becomes hard, but doable.
ok dude it was nice until the middle then.......................it just went past perfect lol you seem to know ALOT of programs and use them efficiently.......well done A++++
Animation was tricky - but it's the most rewarding part of the project. For me, it's where the soul of me and my character come together and do a little dance for you.
Programs are a tool, and like all tools you need to put time and effort in them get good. There are more descriptive tutorials all over the net, this video was made to help wrap the complete scope of the project in your head.
That is awesome. I would love to be able to do stuff like this. Could you please tell me what program you used, what it costs, and what software I would need on my computer to run this program.
I used CAT, I created my own rig. I left out the bone making part out, but it was basically transforming and rotating primitives to fit the limbs of the model.
the general model is nice, however try to limit your use of meshsmooth or turbosmooth, do a high poly model instead and use normal mapping since you do have zbrush.
The movie had a whole team working on it. And most my the time went into the 'set up'. Once you have a working 3d model and rig set up, you can pump out rendered movies at a very fast rate.
Rather interesting in how this little movie was created, I'm not exactly sure but apparently you used simple geometric shapes for some of the poles and other objects for the Psuedo-Arachnid to interact with to match with the live action scene film. Must be *bleep* to get the timing right with the car.
And also, I've studied and worked on a 3D creation and animation program (Maya myself, still not sure how to use 3DMAX) along with Adobe After Effects so I sympathize with yah.
The live car matching was easy. If you set the video as a background movie, you can see when and how fast your car pops in the back of the frame. You can then use match the fake car with the real one in real time. The real tricky bits were matching the fake poles and other geometry to fit with the real one. Spacing has to be precise, which was something I wasn't accurate in.
That was incredible. I'm so jealous of your talent. It was interesting to see all the steps. The trickiest part looked like the 3d tracking, is that true?
3d tracking was actually the easiest. I didn't even have to do anything - the program did it all for me. What's been going on with you anyway? Haven't heard from you in ages. Get on MSN or something man.
It just looked tricky with all the green stuff everywhere. Just yeah, looks like something I wanna try in the future.
I'll come on msn sometime. Usually I'm working, or playing poker. I've been waiting to get a house to have a big get together, but that's in the backburner for now...
wow Evoke, looks like alot of work went into that for sure. I am sure the ppl on zbc would love a kewl explanation of everythign in this vid and a link also....bravo. Ron

Was I hit by a car? no...I walked into one though....
And this is an Alien....the driver of the car wouldn't drive straight at it but what ever. Again, nicely done.

How did you made a bone system appear from boxes already in the right places?
Truechuser 3 years ago
I used CAT, I created my own rig. I left out the bone making part out, but it was basically transforming and rotating primitives to fit the limbs of the model.
evokelabs 3 years ago
This is really good...though I doubt that a Warrior would get ran over by a car so easily....try reversing the roles.
DrNo919 3 years ago
Screw that! You ever get hit by a car? There will be nothing left of you.
