  • Everything was great except for the last part of the animation where the creature suddenly begins walking across the road. It looks too fast and robotic in my opinion. But the tracing was really nice.

  • what software do u use

  • I loved your 3dmm movies bro you really got an artist mind

  • does someone know.. if there is also a plugin like these for maya ? because everyone say maya is the best in modeling but if u have CAT for 3dmax why animate in maya because I have seen CAT plugin it's really powerfull it beats maya in animation :S.. it's very stupid that autodesk made a powerfull tool like CAT for max but not for maya so in maya I have to make a walkcycle just with hand ? :S can someone explain ?..

  • professional modeler/animator all in one 8]

  • did that have a mussel system!?!

Major Skills u do this for a living..

  • COOOL! Wat program did u use?

  • @DarthoPenguin he used zbrush and 3ds max i think

  • this is freaking awesome!!!!

  • is there any way you could do a tutorial on how you turned your character into a biped? this looks amazing and would love to try this technique. thanks adam.

  • aaaaaaaaaaa that is so fukking cool wich program do you used that is cool

  • 3ds max

  • Thanks for showing how you did this becase I found that ref image you used and made my own in blender and its almost done

  • looks confusing....

  • thats hot!

  • car wins: FATALITY

  • really nice work!!

  • That was cool.

  • ok i know what you used, but what version of 3Dmax *back then* and the biped setup (CAT plugin)," were can i get it? and how to use is :D becous i realy want to try this too ;)

  • fuckin A

    dude thats kool

  • Nice job. What is it this program?

  • how hard is it to make

  • How long is a piece of string? How hard is a picture to paint? It depends on your technique and skill. Once you learn the trade, it no longer becomes hard, but doable.

  • Check out vid description.

  • haha:D

  • how long in real time for this project ?

  • Took me 20 hours all up I think.

  • ok dude it was nice until the middle then.......................it just went past perfect lol you seem to know ALOT of programs and use them efficiently.......well done A++++

  • i liked it a lot!!! it looked easy..except the animatin :P

  • Animation was tricky - but it's the most rewarding part of the project. For me, it's where the soul of me and my character come together and do a little dance for you.

  • you have to slow this down and make it a tutorial man!

  • Hmm maybe. I have a lot in my plate as it is. I think you guys will enjoy more videos such as this than more videos telling you how I made them :)

  • wow was that easy?? do uhave to have good experience with those programs to do that? and u think u can give a quick tutorial?

  • Programs are a tool, and like all tools you need to put time and effort in them get good. There are more descriptive tutorials all over the net, this video was made to help wrap the complete scope of the project in your head.

  • hey did u use adobe audition for the audio.?

    heh.

    nice work.

  • That is awesome. I would love to be able to do stuff like this. Could you please tell me what program you used, what it costs, and what software I would need on my computer to run this program.

  • Check the past replies and the more info text in the description. It should all be there.

  • Was I hit by a car? no...I walked into one though....

And this is an Alien....the driver of the car wouldn't drive straight at it but what ever. Again, nicely done.

  • How did you made a bone system appear from boxes already in the right places?

  • I used CAT, I created my own rig. I left out the bone making part out, but it was basically transforming and rotating primitives to fit the limbs of the model.

  • This is really good...though I doubt that a Warrior would get ran over by a car so easily....try reversing the roles.

  • Screw that! You ever get hit by a car? There will be nothing left of you.

  • nice video make some more i love all starship troopers accept for number2, i hate the zombie bug things.

  • that bug got owned

  • damn you added alot of camera tracking points :P

The light is alright, but could be improved.

the general model is nice, however try to limit your use of meshsmooth or turbosmooth, do a high poly model instead and use normal mapping since you do have zbrush.

and work on your animating skills.

But still awesome video and a good job, 4/5 :)

  • Hate it when pros give me advice. Makes me look less cool in front of the impressionable noobs.

  • would hardly call myself pro.

still a long way to that max master title ;P

Just trying to give some advice and i'd like to see some more of your work :)

  • dude, wtf, im still pretty damn impressed! i've always wanted to do animation and stuff like that... what programs du you use? (i am 100% noob)

  • i hate it too... but i think our animation skillz are fine.. dont bother about Volumonox...

  • hey could you please tell me what program/software you used pretty please

  • Check out the description.

  • Prices go up and down. Think I paid 10k for everything all up.

  • nice job, you're a pro man.

  • what program are you using ??

  • OMG

    YOUR AMAZING!!!

  • how long this take.

  • 10-20 hours maybe.

  • wow.i thought it took longer. it looks freakin sweet. very lifelike.

  • lol, 20 hours for 11 secs of film,

i wonder how long the movie took

  • The movie had a whole team working on it. And most my the time went into the 'set up'. Once you have a working 3d model and rig set up, you can pump out rendered movies at a very fast rate.

  • Hey, you plan on doing more with his model?

  • can you make the flying ones ive been trying to

  • WOW This really is usefull

  • Nice work!

  • lol, that bug gets pwnd at da end, lmao

  • What program did you use for this and whats the cost?

  • Hi, programs are 3dsmax9, CAT, After Effects, Zbrush, Audition. Prices are expensive, around 10K for everything. Check out google for the lastest.

  • sees very real!! =O!!!

  • Can you do a tanker bug.

  • I've got some other idea, but they don't involve Starship Troopers. Check back in a while.

  • Please tell me how you did it

  • It's not working! It's just a loading screen.

  • Check back again later, thin YouTube is having a crisis.

  • it looks realistic even :o

  • good lord thats awsome

  • hallo I`m Doomork can u make a little movie about

    aliens vs. bug?-Thats fun!

  • Rather interesting in how this little movie was created, I'm not exactly sure but apparently you used simple geometric shapes for some of the poles and other objects for the Psuedo-Arachnid to interact with to match with the live action scene film. Must be *bleep* to get the timing right with the car.

And also, I've studied and worked on a 3D creation and animation program (Maya myself, still not sure how to use 3DMAX) along with Adobe After Effects so I sympathize with yah.

  • The live car matching was easy. If you set the video as a background movie, you can see when and how fast your car pops in the back of the frame. You can then use match the fake car with the real one in real time. The real tricky bits were matching the fake poles and other geometry to fit with the real one. Spacing has to be precise, which was something I wasn't accurate in.

  • I thunk the lot of work of the movir guy may have

  • That was incredible. I'm so jealous of your talent. It was interesting to see all the steps. The trickiest part looked like the 3d tracking, is that true?

    But yeah, awesome work!

  • 3d tracking was actually the easiest. I didn't even have to do anything - the program did it all for me. What's been going on with you anyway? Haven't heard from you in ages. Get on MSN or something man.

  • It just looked tricky with all the green stuff everywhere. Just yeah, looks like something I wanna try in the future.

I'll come on msn sometime. Usually I'm working, or playing poker. I've been waiting to get a house to have a big get together, but that's in the backburner for now...

  • wat software did u use 4 this?

  • 3dsmax9, Zbrush, CAT, After Effects, Voodoo Camere Tracker & Audition.

  • Very cool.

    Is that in Sydney?

  • It is, in Brighton.

  • wow Evoke, looks like alot of work went into that for sure. I am sure the ppl on zbc would love a kewl explanation of everythign in this vid and a link also....bravo. Ron

  • Thats I good idea. I'll put that in now.

  • ahh..is that how u do it? that was way harder than carrying 3 plates..

  • I dunno Xy, three plates? I've only got two hands. The mind boggles in the math in that.

  • yes, 2 hands, but 10 fingers. you could carry 5 plates if u really wanted to. hah, work that out brain!
