  • This is the man who started it all ! What a telented family.

  • @darinbar It's not really Eddie's dad, you idiot. Eddie's father played the clarinet or some such shit. This is Roy Smeck. Read a book for a change, you fucking retard.

  • @Maafa1619 What is shit about a clarinet?

  • @Blanchefort1 Learn how to read. I didn't say that a clarinet was shit. I said that Eddie's dad played a clarinet or some such shit, i.e. some other kind of woodwind or brass instrument.

  • @Maafa1619 You have a lot of anger in you. Try to get rid of it.

  • @Blanchefort1 I also have a fat veiny penis. Try to suck it.

  • @Maafa1619 Wow. You really are sick in the head. Go see a shrink or try suicide.

  • Is that a guitar or a ukulele ? It's so small lol

  • @S0ADxManiac its uke

  • le dan una stratocaster a este tipo y lo que haría, Dios mio!!

this man playing a stratocaster!!! what did he do, oh my God

  • I attribute all the technological distractions to the suckiness of today's music too. Everybody wants to be a star, but what happened to the music being the star?

  • cool why did no guitarists use tapping till the 70,s when this guy was doing it in the 40,s lol

  • give this guy a electric and watch himg go:D

  • holy shit, that's on fire!

  • Yes....very nice indeed...(with mr Burns voice)

  • "Very nice indeed" LOL. Loved it.

  • not eddies dad

  • Wow!!!! This guy is every bit a fretburning stringshredder. Skill, talent, technique, performance, showmanship. Awesome!!!!

  • Al Capone on the ukulele.

  • Kick ass hammer-ons!

  • OMG that guy can damn near catch it on fire.

  • Kick ass. True talent.

  • Before there was Jake there was Roy.

  • absolutely funny!

  • FUCKIN A RIGHT!

  • More Like Al Di Meola's Dad

  • Só faltou enfiar o bagulho no futs.

  • I can imagine this guy jamming with Cab Calloway.

  • This is what you can accomplish without a cellphone to bury your face in throughout your life.

  • Is this true story?? The guy kick ass though.

  • @Endisnigh666 Lol, someone had to say it. Fucking Right too.

  • @Endisnigh666 Fantastic comment!!! you are speaking down from my heart.

  • @Endisnigh666 Well said.. on the internet. Oh you ironic bastard!

  • lol

  • thats bad ass and it only has four strings

  • As I write this, there are at least 9 flaming idiots in the world who disliked this. This is INCREDIBLE!!!

  • wow:)

  • More skills than Van Halen too.

  • Comment removed

  • It goes to show, there is nothing new under the sun.

  • @JuanDeSoCal Well said!

  • That guy must have taken lessons.

  • It was very nice indeed...

  • can i get some tabs for this ? XD

  • @ayyyitsasia No.

  • I like how that was a ridiculous performance and at the end the host was just like, "Oh that was nice" WTF lol

  • This was right before he got high and killed that guy with a golf club right?

  • Ow do we now that's his dad and what instrument is that, but nice video

  • @TheIcecreamman999 that's a ukelele

  • lol

  • Now i know where Eddie got his style from his old man has been shredding since the 1950's haha @nT$...,

  • The Real father of hammerons revealed!!!! not to mention this guy was just smokin on the ukulele:-)..to whomever posted this, Thanks for this revelation!

  • Little did he know what he could have done if he had just released that left hand afterward.

  • this is so BRÜTAL!

  • Comment removed

  • Badass.

  • he's actually better than eddie

  • @paulscape72 It's not Eddie's Dad dude, it's Roy Smeck. The Halen reference was due to the crazy finger work.

  • @paulscape72 he's just strumming on the neck something that millions of guitarists have done, but... he did do the additional tapping of notes, not quite like Van Halen but it's right to give him some credit for the novel technique.

  • @AetroyayorteA Ace Frehley was tapping before Van Halen anyway =)

  • one of steve howes heroes

  • He invented tapping! And he even has the VH smile.

  • @christhetramp YEAH!! That's all you can do though when you're this good! "Smile!"

  • A primitive rockstar...You think that guy got laid a lot?

  • That sucked.

  • That is one bad ass mother fucking ukulele player right there!

  • wow, his right hand just fly's

  • FYI, he's playing Rubinstein's Melody in F.

  • The wrist is undervalued these days....just ask Buddy Rich. (If you can find him)

  • @sclogse1 oooh I value MY wrist...everytime I surf for boobies late at night. :-O

    Cool, funny video, btw.

  • Amazing. He was not mere a fluet player.

  • Comment removed

  • Pretty FUCKING cool and ahead of his time with those Taps. Looks like Eddie didn't iinvent anything. Besides there is nothing new under the sun anyway.

This guy ROCKED OUT ion his UKE.

  • @Janicemaxwell yeah he is pretty cool but eddies tapping is unique in the sense that he was doing arpegios,

  • @Janicemaxwell Right on! There is nothing new underneath the sun above.

The Bible even says this too.

  • MAGIC;;;;;;;TANK'S.

  • This man is called Roy Smeck! Eddie and Alex Van Halen's dad was called Jan Van Halen, and he played clarinet!

  • @adamtheboyfromdenmar And was from Holland, just like Ed and Al!

  • @Tiscali1981 WOW... that doesn't matter! :D (Don't know if you are talking about Jan or Roy?) anyway...

  • @adamtheboyfromdenmar it does, I'm from Holland, a country with less and less to be proud of with each passing day.... (FUCK the Netherlands) I hate it, used to be a great place to live but we've become xenophobic. Well, some of "us" have... wow this feels almost therapeutic! Ok back to Eddie: he's a HERO!!!!!

  • @Tiscali1981 oh sorry now I see ! :) Im from Denmark, so I we don't have so many "great musicians" either. But we have Lars Ulrich, Scarlett Johanson and Viggo Mortensen. But Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoads are the greatest of all time, so you can be proud of to have EVH and Alex on "your site" lol :D

  • @adamtheboyfromdenmar Well well, Denmark! So you know what I'm talking about: Denmark and Holland both have a modern form fascism

  • @adamtheboyfromdenmar ok maybe politics should not be discussed here.. Yeah you guys have Lars that's so cool! (and thank God he decided to leave his tennis career! ). Scarlett Johanson is one of the hottest woman on the planet... So who do we have to show for? Eurrr... nope can't think of anyone... Well ME, in the future that is :)

  • Eddie... King of guitar

HIs dad... king of hawaiian music. never saw a man blow on a ukalale either.

  • He tore that UKE a new BUNGHOLE!!!!!

  • omg! :)

  • I mean really!! Have you ever tried to play one of those tiny guitars? It seems almost impossible to get anything out of it.

  • This guy is God

  • What a shredder, and a showman to boot!

  • Not Eddie Van Halen's Dad. But cool.

  • i am without words,,,,,awesome,,,,he raped that ukelele,,hard,,,,and with a vengence

  • the original eruption

  • I didn't know you could even do that with a ukulele... amazing.

  • Wow that guy is a ukulele master :) Did't know he was Eddie Van Halen's dad tho, though he may have been a extraterrestrial visitor from the Pleiades Constellation. Just my guestamation tho, not legitimate in any way, shape or form. Beans r good.

  • Man that guy can play that tiny guitar well.

  • Comment removed

  • Tiny Tim has nothing on this guy.

  • @jacksondemarre Tiny Tim was Lamo, compared to this!

  • That was pretty tight! Guy was a helluva guitar player!

  • He looks like Alex van Halen.

  • that must be an early rendition of "Little Guitars" lol

  • I don't think Eddie can play that

  • Ed & Alex's father was a jazz musician who played the clarinet.

  • that tapping sounded fucking shit.....the rest was ok

  • @AngelsGateband yeah ok think your ears are goin

  • Wow that was a treat. This guy is definately Eddie's crazy uncle.

  • Comment removed

  • I love this guy's playing it's very nice indeed

In your face show off playing

    I love Edward van halen

  • Okaaaay! Now everything makes sense! Genetics + enviornment= Freakin-ERUPTION!!!!!

  • i thought his dads name was jan...yohn .whatever no 1 cares anymore

  • That's not tapping. Both strumming and fretting fingers require movement at the same time.

Jan Van Halen played clarinet not ukele.

  • @kradar good to know, anti-joke chicken

  • @kradar You are correct sir. I don't know if most people believe this as fact or not. I hope not. I've seen a few pics of Jan over the years and it's definitely not him.

  • @Sennanchie

    It's a joke, obviously, yeessh...buy a sense of humor

  • @CletusColtrane I know that bro! I was just wondering if a lot of other people believe it. That's funny to see someone type that to me. I have a crazy sense of humor, believe me. And yea... it is pretty funny.

  • All that's missing is the smoke stuck down between the strings and the pegs...

  • That is very nice indeed. But I still can't get over the feeling I was watching Bela Legosi jamming...

  • For all you non-believers, see that 0:54-1:11 is a 2-finger tapping with strum technique;remindful of "Little Guitars" ala Van Halen

Probably not the first tapper, but damn close. I actually saw a rerun Mash episode in 1982 with a guitarist (unknown to me) who was tapping an acoustic guitar during a song. And it wasn't Eddit Van Halen. The show was circa mid-1970s.

  • @jjkhawaiian There was also Stanley Jordan "Touch of Blue" mid to late 70s

  • is he really eddie van halen´s Dad????????

  • @kenayanahuat No but Jan Van Halen played the clarinet which is finger tapped with both hands LOL. Note their father plays clarinet on big bad bill from diver down.

  • @ebrules311 thanks a lot my friend...

  • this guys cool!(not really eddied dad!)

  • That was amazing, but there's no tapping there. There's plucking, finger-picking, and strumming, but no tapping. Certainly no two-handing tapping, which is what EVH made famous.

  • @CGaijin I completely agree. Although this is very cool, and this guy shreds on the ukulele, there is no evidence of "finger tapping" here. Tapping has been around for centuries in one form or another, so it would be difficult to trace it's origin. In my opinion no one uses this technique as tastefully as Ed Van Halen, even to the exclusion of Eruption.

  • @GNFAN1987 The "evidence" is around 1:00, just because he's not doing triplets a la Eruption does not mean it's not tapping. Because he clearly is tapping LOL.

  • finger tapping invented by Django Rheinhardt! not e. van halen

  • finally we got the inventor of tapping... it was time !

  • Schmeckle!
