  • How come your parents and sister don't like public transportation?

  • I have no idea, but they just prefer driving into the city...not a smart idea. However, my sister started taking the train when going to city with friends (but doesn't take the trains as much as I do). My dad occasionally takes the train, but only with me or at least my help.

  • You're right, it's not a good idea to drive in the city. While the cars are only going at walking speed, the trains are below ground traveling at 55mph.

  • I love it

  • Same here. Penn Station is just great, but it will be even better after 2017.

  • i love going to penn station.

  • Me too; it's way better than driving into Manhattan

  • What would be the easiest way of getting from JFK Int'l to NYP?

  • The easiest and fastest way to get to New York Penn Station from JFK Airport is to take the JFK AirTrain to Jamaica Station and take the Long Island Rail Road from there to New York Penn Station. It will only take approx. 40 minutes and cost $10.25 (off peak) or $12.25 (peak) altogether (one way)

  • Thanks! We will see what we will do. But thanks!

  • Penn Station is cool. I never used to go there much either because we would always switch trains in DC but now we use both. By the way, how did you get the opportunity to go there this time?

  • My church is in Long Island. My parents and my sister couldn't go to church because of my sister's dance competition in Manhattan. So someone I know drove me to church and on the way back, I got to take the train myself to Manhattan and meet my parents there. But my mom and my sister were in the car. The good news is that my dad is starting to take the train occasionally if necessary.

  • Your church is in Long Island and you live in NJ. That's the farthest I've heard someone traveling to go to church. That's cool though. Too bad you couldn't do it every week.

  • Yes, at least one hour drive if there's no traffic. Remember my video that proves the reason to avoid Interstate 95? But when I lived in California, my church was in Los Angeles - 3 hours drive each way. I often announce that I am taking the train to church the following Sunday, but it never happens because my mom won't let me. And because of my parents and my sister, I had to ride in the car the rest of my way home.

  • Why couldn't they let you take the train back home and pick you up at the station there? I mean if they let you take the LIRR to Penn Station, why couldn't they let you take the NJT train the rest of the way?

  • I don't know why, but when we go together, my parents don't like the idea that I go separately. I rather go separately and spend that extra money rather than fight with my sister in the car.

  • Have you ever asked them why they don't let you take the train? It doesn't sound like safety because if it was safety, they wouldn't have let you take the LIRR.

  • If I go myself, they would let me take the train but if we go together, we need to be together which means that I would need to be in the car with them since my mom and my sister doesn't take the train.
