Well, I would imagine this game comming out in 2004 and the animation would be still so-so... I can't imagine playing this game and I would NOT consider buying it at all (bad animations, seems like all you will do is using catapults + burning poles to get rid of enemy and you will probably try to avoid military fights because the animation is really horrible... they probably should consider making trailers better

I haven't read up on the game, but I'm really looking forward if they finally changed troop overlapping and removed instant wall repairs ( exspeically during a siege attacks). Those were kinda a turn-off gameplay wise.

I wonder what this will look like playing in 1920x1080 res... Anyways, I loved SH:C, if this game has a good feel to it, I wouldn't mind the graphics.

add: thou I do have to agree with one of the posters, the whole gate house going down to a ram is silly, if it was seiging ok, but just a door being bashed in? Might want to fix or have a patch ready for release. That's a bit to much even for me :) But overall? I can't wait!

Looks great to me! big fan of the series, I think the graphics fit what they are trying to represent, it wasn't all shiny armor and color's back in those days. Going for the realistic look here works well indeed! can't wait!

@SuperThecrap For me graphics don't matter much. I loved and still love Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader (i'm still playing them ) :)) and now I'm glad that Stronghold 3 doesn't require a good pc to run it , because my pc is a little old :)

Why would a gatehouse collapse like that? You went through the trouble to make walls realistic, breaking "brick by brick", but the gatehouse getting destroyed looks like a canned animation.

@zerilis Ever consider that the Twin Towers were steel skyscrapers engineered to collapse in exactly that manner so as not to topple over and crush other buildings, and not a 13th century stone gatehouse a fraction of the size? Or maybe that's beside the point; it just looks lame the way it does. I'm not a structural engineer, but I'm pretty sure if I take a battering ram to the portcullis, all of the stone holding it in place doesn't turn to confetti. Maybe you're just trolling. I should hope.

Only ONE problem for me: It still looks ugly that the gatehouse seems to have no problems then just collapses from the last hit =(

The trailers aren't that great but I couldn't care less, for a Stronghold game, it look like it's going to be interesting, graphics are good (if you want stunning visuals and a cinematic experience, play an FPS or action adventure) and the physics look like they'll give catapults, etc more importance rather than for just getting the walls down quickly.

@SuperThecrap Thanks lol! It's get annoying hearing everyone complain about graphics which just aren't as important in an RTS. Gameplay is and always will be the most important thing in any game and has always been great in Stronghold (well Stronghold 2 had issues but it was still ok and is fixed in 3).

I'm look forward to the night time features and the grid free castle building, circular walls, free rotation, this is what's more important, graphics can always be modded or done up in patches.

On Stronghold 3's Facebook page they said this:

"Stronghold 3 For those asking about the walls. It takes a long time to destroy them - in the video they have been hit several times before collapsing. Don't worry, it's still tough to destroy walls."

I for one think that they should make this clearer in the trailers.

Just so long as you can tell the difference between your guys and theirs graphics shouldn't matter beyond a little glamour. The destruction looks ok, the game play is the same old stronghold we love, the walls and other stuff look absolutely awful, its so pixely it looks like its from the 90's as an attempt at cutting edge graphics.

First Stronghold and crusader game were so good..They were legendary.. I'm a big fan of this game but after crusader, this game is just a disappointment and i think graphically very similar to stronghold 2 and legends..I'm waiting hopefully but there is something change in this game..

Looks like it could use a little polishing...but ill be extremely happy as long as they get back to the basics that were in Stronghold 1 and crusader. Excessive castle maitenance and chaining all the damn buildings together was so...SOOOOOOOOO un-fun.
