the flight mechanics for this game were the best of ANY bf game. the mi8 in this game handles better than the apache in bfbc2...not cool for me.

I miss BFV wish i still had it :( I still have screen shots of me often going 100-2 K/D. Remember i used to usually be NVA and fly over to the American base and free fall into the Huey and take off lol. Loved the way the choppers flew in that game even better then BF2.

Is this worth buying for multiplayer?

@dickorc It's a great game, but I'm not sure how good the multiplayer would be anymore. It is seven years old and there probably aren't many people playing it these days. If you were talking about the new Battlefield Bad Company 2: Vietnam expansion, I would say that game is worth picking up, but mostly because you can get it pretty cheap. I got it for $5 and at that price you don't have to play much for it to be worth while.

People have said that multiple times, and obviously you couldn't do it with cargo attached, but I'm curious, what prevents this aircraft from rolling over? Keep in mind, I'm a gamer, not an engineer or aviator.

2 things,when inverted,the rotor blades could'nt counter pitch in the opposit direction,todays blackhawk can do just about everthing,barrel rolls,loops ect,the other thing was that the fuel control system just was'nt designed to work up side down,kind of like a car carburator of old...i think as far as i can remember,the oh-6a loach wasa copter that could do loops and this was back in 68 if i remember right,it was one of the coolest rides id ever been in,kind of like the sports car of aircraft

A helicopter is always "sucked" into the direction the rotors are pointed to. If they're pointed downward, it'll move downward. Now, couple the effect of gravity, which pulls objects earthward at a rate of 9.8 mps, with the vertical velocity of the helicopter, well...you couldn't get it back. You'd be too far into "fucked", past "there's some hope".

If that game had real physics, that APC would have never been picking up by a huey but if it could, I think rolling with it would rip the bottom of the chopper off. The Chinook 47 is my favorite chopper in the game.

hey, how do you transport vehicle like in your video using that huey? what should i press?

I believe you just need to use the alternate weapon fire to lower the wench while hovering over whatever you want to pick up. You'll probably want to switch between 1st and 3rd perspective a few times so you can get a good idea of where the end of the wench is in relation to the vehicle.

hold the Alt key and press F4, that lowers the rope then just fly over a vehical to pick it up

A huey is a very powerful machine really, Often in Vietnam they were used Hauling more then the Manufacturers Weight Recommendation, They hauled more weight then thought possible, And they could be modified wich some Pilots snuck around and did ileagally..But what was they going to do about it, Send them to Vietnam? lol... anyhow The Weather also played a role in it...The hotter air the more dense the air so that worked against the huey...

The wench is the alternate fire for some of the choppers in BFV. You just hover over the object, drop your wench, and if the object is something that is capable of being picked up, a little light will turn green and you can just carry it off.

I have the entire game still ion the box, I use to play it, but someone stole my hash key and I couldnt play online anymore,Im sure your hash key is fine, you just need the disks and it wasnt that great of a game to me to bother ea/dice to see if they would give me a new hash key...you can have it for the shipping cost to where you live.just post comment to let me know.

huey`s can do rolls like that but not with a m113 beaus i saw it in real at the army the did a flight show i was even in one (but not by a roll but it was still awesome But i can`t play rhe game anymore i lost one Disk and I have a appel computer and i wanted to know does it work on a appel Computer

I'm pretty sure that the game only runs on Windows, so you probably won't be able to run it on an apple.

It probably took me 20 or 30 tries, but that was mostly because I was used to kicking the tail out and putting a little bit of flair on the roll and it was hard to keep the APC from hitting the chopper or falling off until I stopped doing that.

Chill out dude, it's a game, not a flight sim. It's intended to be representational, not realistic. The game would suck if they stuck a Chinook in every level where they wanted to include lifting capability.

And obviously, a huey can't carry a 113, but I believe they are capable of doing a barrel roll.

Actually, that's not quite true. There were choppers doing rolls during the late '60s. Do a search for "sikorsky ch-53 roll" and you can see an example.

I haven't found any footage of a huey doing a roll, but I still think it is within the realm of possibility.

Oh I'm sure it is, not as tight as in BFV but quite sure they can. Black Hawks can roll & they're pretty fat bitches compared to a Huey. OMG this one time in Iraq we had this female pilot out in Mosul & some one made the "Oh, wow haven't seen many women pilots." comment. most awesome ride I EVER had in a chopper, & I've been on so many air assault missions I've lost count. I have to admit I was a little worried when she took it under the bridges along the Tigris, just about shat myself.

Actually, that's not the tank, it's the armored personel carrier. To lift it you just need to float over it with the winch extended like you would with any of the other liftable objects.

There's a couple things I had to do to make this happen. First, I had to sway back and forth a little to get the APC swinging with me. If you don't do this the APC won't swing fast enough and will basically just hit you once you get upside down. The second thing is you have to reverse your roll at about the time you are completely upside down. Your momentum will carry you the rest of the way and you should stabilize once you're back to horizontal.
