I have been shown by rabbis, and largely on personal feelings of what is the truth, that the Torah and its mitzvos are a means of elevating one's self, and the world at large. I am not however, CONVINCED enough to sing 3 times a day Yechi Hamelech. Chabad is great, but some of the chassidim in 770 are bit fanatical.
