This is the first time I've watched one of your reviews and It's been very funny and well argued. The video editing was good too, but I think you should appear on screen and not hide behind static screenshots. I give you a 9 out of 10.
Finishing Endless 8 was finishing taking a shit after being constipated. It's so rough and scary at times, And sometimes you even want to cry. But once it's over, this Weight is just lifted off of your shoulders...And you lower intestine...Yeah...

@gigguk, I feel a need to offer a correction for around 6:10 where you say "half the Haruhi fanbase simultaneously..." I'd have to say slightly less than a quarter because blushing Yuki has to compete with Asahina-san, grown-up Asahina-san, Haruhi, little Haruhi who'll call you "Hentai" the first time she sees you, Asakura (who even Kyon admits is more interesting than Yuki), Tsuruya-san, and all the girls from Lucky Star shamelessly singing about their uniform's midriff gap.
I just finished watching this, and I have to agree with you on pretty much all of your points, man. I liked the original seasons more than you did, so I knew I'd like it, but wow. I mean, it was GREAT. I definitely won't forget it any time soon.

This anime is great, BUT!!!! The episodes outline within the story is really, really fucked up cause on every site I go on, for example ep 5 on Anime freak TV would be diffrent ep than anime revolution one. I am like wtf!!! So thats I why i stopped watching the anime cause I couldn't follow the storyline. So from where are you wathcing anime like whats the main website is called that you watch animes?
It shocks me that you actually like this movie. I will undoubtedly never watch this movie, ever. I just don't see how such a boring anime could make a brilliant movie.

I don't know what shocks me more, you liking the haruhi series more of the fact that you gave the film 10/10? because when I was listening and watching the review my jaw dorp and my eyes went like this O.O but I can understand why you'd like it.
To be honest, I think you guys should finish up ALL the Endless Eight episodes as well.. ( - -) Then you'll completely understand how Nagato feels and thus doing all this (Disappearance)
Oh well, at least I think you should watch the first 2 and last 2 episodes of the Endless Eight series..

Is it absolutely required to watch the first two seasons of Haruhi Suzumiya to watch this movie? I have no desire to watch the show, but want to see this movie however, I"m afraid that I would be missing too much required info from the show to know what is going on, or even to appreciate the movie.

Hey Gigguk have you seen Eden of the East? I recently gave it a chance after years of not watching any anime due to all the moe crap [I too enjoy seinen] and was pleasantly surprised. If you haven't give it a chance. Drawings make it seem like it's meant for women, but it's actually a sort of scifi death note.
@Animeclass101 The minimum viewing you have to do is episodes 1-6 in the season 1 and episode 1 in season 2 which are important to the plot. Though there are alot of reference throughout the movie of stuff that happened in the two seasons, so like I said to fully "get" the movie you need to be familiar with the whole series. Though you can skip the endless 8 in season 2

Hey Gigguk, what's your opinion on style vs substance when it comes to Anime, is it even possible to merge the two bc for the most part we see one sacrificed for the other too often.
To me, nothing will ever be able to make up for the idiocy that was Endless 8. I considered myself a big fan of the first series, but when it's "sequel" came out I was just plain pissed. Not that they didn't give a valiant effort with this movie. It was well done and I REALLY liked it, but it makes me angry that they were able to pull this off but they STILL gave us the same 8 episodes over and over (repeat 6x more) again. Idk. I guess it'll just be known as "the season that didn't happen"

Im not a big fan of the series, tho' I usually say I am just to annoy people by saying Haruhi is the best anime ever and if they disagree she will curse them all. @TheOtakuKat You need to have watched the first episode of the second season, Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody. That is essential to understanding the major plot point of the story.
God I love this movie so much. But I'm a tremendous Haruhi fanboy who even loved Endless Eight. Still, I'm glad to see it's so widely appreciated for the masterpiece that it is.

I liked the inclusion of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei at 1:57 and the Kyon monologues just had me doubled in laughter. The most surprising thing is I never once dreamed that you would give anything other than Baccano a 10/10 rating. Great work as always and yes, the movie is fucking rad. I went through the exact same crisis with Haruhi first enjoying the first series, despising the second and then recouping my love for the franchise with the movie. My only questions is where could KyoAni take this?
@historymanZP There are a few things I would give a 10/10, I just don't want to review them all at once, plus its harder to be funny when there are very little flaws to talk about (I'm sure you know that by now)
As for where kyo ani could take this, well after they finish the K-ON movie....season 3? Though I haven't read any of the light novels so I don't know where the story goes after this
@gigguk Oh, I know what you mean. I have to deliberately pick shows I know I will hate to keep it interesting. That's pretty much what I'm thinking, and there is certainly a lot of material in the novels to cover, but I have this sinking feeling that KyoAni knows this is the last hurrah and decided to end it gloriously. Considering how KyoAni is still hung up on the moe genre (K-On, Nichijou, etc) despite it being its last throes, it might be quite a while before we see Season 3.
@gigguk I read the Light Novels btw and IMHO the light novel was waaay better than the anime not sure about the movie though all I know is that my intrest with this series only sparked after I read the light novels not sure about your intrest though :P

Nevertheless, I'd like to say that, if you have time, please check out the Aria franchise (50 episodes for 3 seasons). I did not think I would enjoy it at all before watching it and I ended up loving it. It blew away my expectations.

Great Scott! This movie was dreadfully boring.
Seen mine share of time travel movies but this one had really bad pacing.
If you're unsure about the movie, watch it on Youtube before buying it.
I'll stick with the "Girl Who Leapt Through Time" as my fav. anime movie.

To me, nothing will ever be able to make up for the idiocy that was Endless 8. I considered myself a big fan of the first series, but when it's "sequel" came out I was just plain pissed. Not that they didn't give a valiant effort with this movie. It was well done and I REALLY liked it, but it makes me angry that they were able to pull this off but they STILL gave us the same 8 episodes over and over (repeat 6x more) again. Idk. I guess it'll just be known as "the season that didn't happen"

Am I the only one who doesnt hate the Endless Eight? I find that so genious, I mean, I laughed my pants out when I noticed the third episode was still the same. Im not a big fan of the series, tho' I usually say I am just to annoy people by saying Haruhi is the best anime ever and if they disagree she will curse them all. Also, isnt it just fuuun to pretend to believe in a teenager god?

I've never seen the series because of the genre but the way you made the movie sound well....EPIC. haha anyway I was hoping for your next review, you could do Great Teacher Onizuka (or GTO) I don't really know if you do request or not but I'm a die hard fan and I would really enjoy hearing your thoughts on the series. and i also enjoyed TDOHS for the same reasons as you, but it it was a bit "too long" for me which did knock off points in my book. Anyways great job!

i always liked haruhi, but not in the way i like a good show like darker than black, more like the way i like dbz because it got me into anime back when i was young and had no taste in anime, and honestly yeah i really like this movie, genuinely like, not just like because its a movie of a show that i liked 4 years ago.

I liked the inclusion of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei at 1:57 and the Kyon monologues just had me doubled in laughter. The most surprising thing is I never once dreamed that you would give anything other than Baccano a 10/10 rating. Great work as always and yes, the movie is fucking rad. I went through the exact same crisis with Haruhi first enjoying the first series, despising the second and then recouping my love for the franchise with the movie. My only questions is where could KyoAni take this?

@historymanZP There are a few things I would give a 10/10, I just don't want to review them all at once, plus its harder to be funny when there are very little flaws to talk about (I'm sure you know that by now)
As for where kyo ani could take this, well after they finish the K-ON movie....season 3? Though I haven't read any of the light novels so I don't know where the story goes after this

@gigguk Oh, I know what you mean. I have to deliberately pick shows I know I will hate to keep it interesting. That's pretty much what I'm thinking, and there is certainly a lot of material in the novels to cover, but I have this sinking feeling that KyoAni knows this is the last hurrah and decided to end it gloriously. Considering how KyoAni is still hung up on the moe genre (K-On, Nichijou, etc) despite it being its last throes, it might be quite a while before we see Season 3.

Nevertheless, I'd like to say that, if you have time, please check out the Aria franchise (50 episodes for 3 seasons). I did not think I would enjoy it at all before watching it and I ended up loving it. It blew away my expectations.
