@Miss65boo Dr. Naylors dehorning paste works well and since we have to process each calf when they are born it makes sense to us to do the dehorning of our heifer calves at that time. We use cordless clippers to get the hair away from the horn bed and a tongue depressor to apply it. It works well and almost every time does the job. I do warn you however, do not get the paste under your fingernail or cuticle because it is the same tissue as the horn tissue. Ouch. lol Thanks 4 the question
you ever look into a shark cage? Or r your momma's nice enough to let you get your buisness done. I had too develop a pretty fast 90 foot dash to stay ahead of my cattle b4 I got a cage.
@rancherjongus I don't think he needs one if his cattle are that tame! I've never seen a momma back off like that and just let you do all that to her Baby.
@bulldogger1987 I gotta start culling for temperment lol. I'd be stapled to the side of the truck if I did that to a new born calf. Not much predation at my place though hehehe. Any thing smaller then a grizzly has to b off there rocker to go after 1 of my calves.
@rancherjongus No shark cages here but I have had some close calls with a cow or two. Some of them mean business 4 sure. I have been chased around the truck a time or two. Definitely keeps a guy on his toes. Crazy momma cows anyways.
@dcpro1970 it's a fine line to tread isn't it. I find if u got good ol go along momma's there babies r a easy meal. But the opposite of that and ur the meal. lol
