go to NEW and set the canvas as A4 size :/

  • will it still work if you print it on wax paper?

  • do you need a special shirt?

  • what kind of printer and wher do you grt th transfer paper

  • Walmart sells "transfer paper". I think you need one of those ink-jet ones, not a "laser". I did it once long time ago and needed a reminder by watching this video.

  • where do u buy the paper from?...duz it have to be a normal paper?

  • You can get ONE sheet of paper from Michaels but its a rip off on the box it said sheetS of paper and we got one for 5 bucks =(

  • how do u get the picture on microsoft picture manager. i cant

  • if you still need the picture manager, you click on all program, and find the microsoft office folder, and then click on that. then find the microsoft office tools, and then click on that, then it should be there. you dont have to download anything

  • dose it have to be a laser printer or can it be any kind of printer?

  • It can't be a Lazer printer cuz you iron the image on. A lazer printer uses heat thats why the paper comes out warm right after you print it...it will melt the transfer paper. You need an inkjet printer.

  • dou absoloutley need picture manager or can u just use microsoft word

  • you can use those, but you dont need to use either, you can even use paint

  • u should print on the dull side or the blank side!!

  • Most heat transfers should be used within a day of printing them for best results. Check out my videos for tutorials on screen printing tee shirts. Questions welcome. There is a link on my channel page for my website which has a Tips & Advice page with many resources in the Forums section.

  • Hey, the microsoft word idea is a pretty good idea as far as the image size goes. I would have never thought of that. Thanks.

  • what program is he using for the design??!!Please tell me =(

  • I am guessing he got it off the internet and opened it in Microsoft Office Pixture Manager. I already had that software on my computer when my dad set it up so im not sure about how to get it.

  • What programs do you use?

  • thank u

  • wtf is a transfer paper

  • Is't that we use normal printer can be done? how about the transfer paper? got any specific name for it?

  • i know it sound really stupid: what's the transfer paper?

  • You can buy it at Bureau en gros.

  • you mean Staples. Bureau en gros is the french name for it.

  • lol!

  • one question...!

what kind inks he used for printing...?

  • i don't get it ..so

    1. can you buy this paper anywhere? like at a craft store?

    2. is the design not permanent or something? won't the ink just wash off the shirt

  • would using photo ink be more waterproof when washing? my shirt bled the red when washed. I was ticked!!! So will photo ink work better? please help!!!!

  • Not sure about that, I don't think any ink for an inkjet or even laser printer would be considered more "waterproof" than another. I usually wash everything in cold water, so I have never experienced bleeding colors with transfers.

I'm curious, did your design have a lot of red in it and it faded after you washed it, or did you wash with some other colors that may have had red in them that actually caused the bleeding?

  • do we need a speacial program on the computer to make iron on transfer

  • No special program is needed. Most computers already contain a picture editing program such as "Paint", "Microsoft image editor", Adobe Elements" etc...

After that, you just need a color printer and the transfer paper.

  • Does this work on all types of fabric or do you have to use a specific kind?

  • It's best to use at least a 50% cotton blend in the fabric. Because you will be using a very high heat setting, pressure, and the length of time (several seconds in one area) the heat is in contact with the fabric and could damage it if it's other than cotton, such as silk.

  • Now, I'm assuming that the green line doesn't come on the transfer paper when you buy it? That being said, it looked to me that the line was applied on a laminated-looking surface, and the transfer was printed on the regular paper side, correct?

  • Hi Crate...actually the green line does come on the transfer paper already. That's so you know which side is the side to print on, based on the type of printer you're using you will either have the line facing you or away from you so that the design is printed on the side that does not have the green line. The "laminated" surface of the green line does look that way, since it is sorta slick...the print side is more of a matte finish.

  • That's what I was thinking, thanks for confirming!!

  • what do i use to mirror the image !!! helpplzzz

  • hi yanik, this was done using Microsoft picture Manager. once you open your image, click on the "edit picture" tab on the top of the page, this will open a box on the right side of the screen, then click on "rotate and flip" this opens another menu, and you'll see flip horizontal or flip vertical...flip horizontal allows you to "mirror" the image.

Other picture programs usually have a "mirror" edit button in them, such as Coreal or Adobie.

  • Yeah U can also u ms Paint

  • Can you use a laser printer (with toner), or does it have to be ink jet

  • yeah...no sorry it needs to be an ink jet instead of laser printer.

  • how much does transfer papper coast and

    where can you get it?

what type of printer can you use?

  • uhhh tranfer paper is usually around 7 or ten bucks, and you can use almost any kind of printer

  • why cant it bejust regular paper? will that make the desighn not come on your shirt if you use regular paper???

  • Transfer paper has a special coating that allows the ink to adhere to the shirt. Otherwise, the ink will remain on the paper.

  • would screen printing be better?

  • Screen printing is totally different than heat pressing. Most people don't have the means or skills to do screen printing, which requires various inks, templates, screens, and various processing equipment. Screen printing is a wonderful option but not practical for most people to do at home stuff.

  • So your basically saying, screen printing is better?

  • LOL...not really dannyboy. If you had asked me that a couple of years ago I would say yes, now with subliminal inks, newer types of transfers including the rhinestone and foil types...heat pressing is more cost and time effective over screen printing with comparable results. Both types have a place and serve a purpose, it's up to each individual as to which one best suits their wallets and their clients needs.

  • haha, thx =]

  • hey because u noe soo much if u do iron-on how long will the design stay on before fading by washing or sumthin

  • Really depends on how the shirt is cared for after and the type of transfer that is used. washing inside out with cool water and no bleach will help keep it looking good for long time. Subliminal inks actually turn to gas when heat is applied which makes the ink get into the fabric of the shirt rather than on top of the fabric like most heat transfers...these are really soft transfers and make the shirt not have that plastic feel and looks more vintage. BTW...love your art!

  • lol okay i c...my mom is pretty good and nows how to wash clothes and not to like shrink and stuff so i think this could work thanks.

    thank you: D

  • Hi, I was reading a few of your comments and was wondering what you mean by "Subliminal Ink". I ran a search for it, but came out with no results.

  • So sorry about that, I should stick with what is exactly known as which is Sublimation ink. I sometimes call it "subliminal" but it's not like the ink actually has a brain...lol...my mistake. Search for Sublimation ink and you will find a huge selection of sources.

  • 2:35 thanx i waz really wondering about that part

  • 2:00 thats exactly what i did i printed it out on a test sheet

  • THANKS for this series. You took the time to show exactly how it is done, step by step. This was exactly the information I, as someone who's never done this before, needed. It's sad that some people have criticized you for showing every step, or for using the equipment most people will actually use. Don't let the remarks of a few jerks get you down. This series is VERY GOOD and very useful. Again, thank you.

  • Thanks for the great feedback!

  • hey! just wondering, will color designs work also? :)

  • yep, they sure will...the design I used in the vid was black, white and red. In the vid I do for dark shirts, I did the same thing and it was blue white and red.

  • were do u get transfer paper

  • any art and craft store including walmart.

  • i waz juz bout 2 say dat at walmart i juz got sum 2day 6 sheets fo 7.75(thats including tax)

  • lol, did you seriously use word to print? you're an idiot..

  • LMAO....Actually I don't! But for the video I did since most people have word and not coreal draw. Of course your video on the subject is AWESOME!!! oh that's right you don't have one....A$%wipe

  • No offense but if this really is the dude from the video i just wana say that you seem more mature than this.

  • You're right, I do apologize for the comment. It flies all over me for some people's short sightedness not seeing the reasoning in why I used a program that the majority of people would have as opposed to a program they wouldn't. I apologize to anyone who is offended and to abeccc for making the comment in the first place.

  • either way thats an awsome diea :D lol

  • what happens if you want to make an image thats lager than the paper? do you have to print multiple ones and transfer them close to each other

  • hey it's Chris from the video...the answer to the question is yes..you would need to split the image into two print "page 1" and then page 2 of the image. After that line them up as best you can to get the full effect on the shirt.

  • great tutorial!
