  • Windows 95 is an easy setup. OS/2 is a real challenge for the old-tech enthusiast. If you have a late 90s machine and are up for a challenge, then format win 95/98 out of it and give OS/2 a try. Common drivers are easy to get, but getting broadband going is tough. There is a TCP/IP bug in OS/2 that you need a patch for. Video drivers are not straight forward, for that matter nothing is with OS/2 warp. OS/2 warp was hard to write viruses for and that was probably the only advantage over win95.

  • Why not simply release an OS/3 ?

  • @macdeath69 OS/3 is eComStation

  • windows 95 : blew apple

windows 7 : blew apple again and stopped the mac vs pc camping

  • i did this... the 95 died.

  • vista is horrible. go to windows 7

  • @Pilotsofer hes right dudes ! win7 is better

  • @Pilotsofer win xp and 7 are the best! but if you have like a p4 system i would keep XP if you don't do really things like gaming and HD movies it's no problem at al in fact a intel atom single core HT cpu is slower than a p4 2.4 HT i was surprised about that because yup it is about 6-5 years newer

  • I miss 1995.

  • @portalcake625 apple was too busy screwing itself over at the time to really notice win 95. until the imac came out the company was on the verge of implosion

  • os2 :D

  • you mean downgrade

  • Microsoft songs are always cheesy.

Thanks for the lyrics... suits them well.

  • I wish I never got windows, but I would never make the failure again. I am now a Suseuser. Yes, I tested OS2 4 on a windows95-laptop and it is really a lot better. Windows 95 was really hyped too high. And microsoft will get no more chance (even not with a free Windows 7) I am finished with MS since Vista came out, never again!

  • LOL !

I didn't knew 3D existed so many years ago XD

  • WTF?

  • what is the song that starts at 0:39?

  • there is only one song LoL. -.-"

  • the song is called windows 95 sucks lol

  • bought it up by bob rivers

  • Windows sucks By Wierd Al

Im unsure if thats official name

  • @AlastorChMoody windows 95 by weird al

  • Thanks you, joemetal!

  • starsiegeplayer:

Dumbass. Windows NT IS BASED ON OS/2. If you were a tech-geek, You should go learn your beta history. Windows NT was originally codenamed OS/2 NT. This was in the beginning of NT. Back when IBM and MS were merged for OS/2. Go look at beta history for Windows NT 3.1. And 3.1's base code has been used since then.

  • i can hear the hard disk reading lol!

  • The Apple IIgs has an os with windowed apps in 1988 or so. And it used one meg of memory.

  • Workbench 1.3 on the Amiga was better

  • No it's not. Dave Cutler was hired by MicroSoft to build Windows NT, and when they told him they wanted it to have an OS/2 personality he told them he didn't want it polluting his work.

NT is NOT based on OS/2.

  • The kernels are completely different, and yeah of course because games that come out now are designed for XP/Vista. When XP came out there were huge problems with it and 2000 was better for games then.

  • Hi jasonscottpage,

I'm downloading your video and uploading it to my channel just in case you ever decide to remove it from yours. Thank you very much for posting and to the guy who wrote this. One of my favorite songs I have found on Youtube!!

  • yes!

  • Lol, i have an old comp sitting here right next to me (not the one im using, do you think im going to use that useless crap?), it has a Celeron 800MHz Processor and it runs Windows XP, lol. Slow, but still fun to use. BTW it barely has enough ram to run windows XP, it has 128 MB... Video... 1 MB lol, i have to run windows in 256 colors, very wierd...

  • if someone can message me and tell me where to get the song on this video, that would be great!

  • You can get it from the hobbes OS/2 archive:

    hobbes(dot)nmsu(dot)edu

    go to:

    *multimedia

    **wave

    ***mpeg

  • Shit, back those days no one even dreamed about playing a video on a pc, those were obscure days of computers, when a computer was FOR work and nothing more.... well... mine sweeper, chess and solitaire.

  • i was pretty pissed when i tried to upgrade to vista, when you use a pc made for 98, xp etc... if you want vista to actually run well buy a pc made for vista... then you will see how good it is

  • agreed. I use XP and like it for the fat that it runs well on my P4 3 Ghz and for gaming, Vista is not quite as bad as people say. Sure, it has a lot of pointless features that need to be disabled, and has Direct X 10 which is the least impressive update of DX yet, but it looks good, isn't that all that matters? haha. that is sarcasm, by the way. but seriously, if you have a computer that is capable of running it at decent speeds, it isn't that bad.

  • it's a pleasure to look up porn

  • lmao, I just noticed the song is changed, that's funny! Nice video.

  • nice song

  • The problem with Win Vista is the same when 95 came out and people had to upgrade from 3.x... NO DRIVERS.... Windows 2k ftw!!

  • Kind of pathetic how Vista took so long to come out and is NOT any different than XP. You can do anything you can in XP that you can in Vista, only with less headache. Vista even after SP1 is still slow on quads and crashes more due to poor driver support (they are getting better, but still worse than XP). Vista had 5 years +. Microsoft had to release it but it is still a beta. Ya sure Vista is more secure yada yada. It's really up to the user at the end of the day to be secure.

  • This OS looked very nice, better than Windows 95...

  • lol, the only reason windows sell is cause like all the other OS out there cant play all the games windows can, ie, u have to use so called "plug and pray" software on linux to get games to work and to play them on mac u need windows on a emulator or something

  • Plug and pray my friend, is used to refer exclusively to the ISA bus's implementation of switchless configuration. Leave Linux out of this.

  • Looks nicer than Win95.

  • MAC has always been ahead of Windows as far as GUI goes.

  • No way! System 1 was a great commercial product, but since then, the Mac OS really lacked behind until Mac OS X came. I really, really hated OS 9 (and earlier versions). It lacked good multitasking, was unstable, had very limited possibilities, etc. I went back to Windows at those days, with pleasure. Almost everyone who worked on both OS'es at the time would think the same I guess. The Macintosh system only had a small group of disciples still using it.

  • The OS/2 Was made by both IBM Computer and Microsoft Corporation in the 1980's or 1990's for IBM Machines or compatible. Note that the OS/2 was released on Floppies since CD-ROM's were not invented until 1992.

  • i dont know why you use vistra myfriend it sux... i think id rather use 98 than vista

  • aimin to that!

  • And me, I don't have any problem with Vista!

    So, please stop flaming Vista!!!!!!

  • The people who flame Vista are poor and can't afford pc upgrades!

Please don't be too hard on them!

  • ...you mean...THE VISTA? ^^

  • Then use 98!

Poor kid, can't afford a Pc

  • I loved os/2. Anywaze To this day i her people talk of how windows 95 used a lot of ram and harddrive but the fact is the size was not a big deail memery speed was and harddrive speed was. runng at a udma of 66 or higher and pc 100 or higher with 64mb of ram and 10 gig harddrive it flew even on a 2 gig hdd it was fast.

  • Memery? That sounds tasty. Is it like celery?

  • Speaking to a user group. ".. or will os/2 mop up in the MARKET PLACE?"

There ya f'in have it. When you have a problemm... or you go to a forum.. or your in a user group...

Do you want a company concerned with:

    a. Better product

    b. Market share

F'in idiots the lot of em. Vista i hated it, get used to it, much better eventully vs my xpp, Now, with more complex issues haunting my Vista, after 1.5 years. HAHA! Broke one monitor even. Yes hardware, conflict. With my fist. Thx MS.Aholes

  • an operating system CAN NOT break a monitor. it isn't technically possible.

  • I said hardware conflict with my fist. As in frustration I punched it. To be completely literal. bleepblopbleeberbleep

  • Wow, your pretty spoilt or stupid.

  • BlueBajs:

    I resemble that.

The monitor, sigh, regretable. However the point of the post, is to highlight the first part of the video. When market share is primary to quality, we, the consumer suffer. One may argue that the dollar comes first and I disagree. Thought to the business model Mark Cap is primary, the best companies do this through superior technology, quality etc. To simply have tommorows Market Share first, you will always be second.

    I guess maybe just 'spoilt'[sic]. ;)

  • I'd be interested to know what "problems" you where having with your system. I'm running Vista Ultimate on a dinky AMD Athlon 64 4000+ (Single core) with only 1GB of RAM and a very pedestrian GeForce 6800 GT-I, and Vista works better than XP or XP x64 on this box. 90% of people that report "problems" with Vista are using either antequated hardware (5 years or more) or tried to install their favorite 5-year-old-or-more software. Welcome to the 21st Century - GO UPGRADE!

  • ScottKin:

I'll email you on specifics. I had 2 'sets' of issues. One found to be as result of router supplied by Verizon Fios.

  • Actually, you are wrong. Back in the Amiga days it was possible to drive the flyback transformer into the tube of a CRT monitor with a specially crafted video signal. It would effectively destroy your monitor.

  • lol

  • @kaascake That was the commodore pet, but whatever.

  • @iwanthalo3 mmm and if you put the monitor beyond its capabilites, specially on crts

  • @boutrosdu93

if you mean res/refresh rate, then it just displays a message that says "out of range".

  • i installedd windows 95 on micro virtual pc 2007 running on vista 1.6ghz duo cpu 1.5gb ram/my laptop\it was 20mb the windows installer without ie so i put firefox 3 on it and it works perfect!

  • Love the song

  • Vista is just 95 all over again. 95 was awesome at the time, but it did have errors. Same with Vista.

Now, when Windows 7 comes out, it would be 98 all over again. amirite?

  • NO! Windows 95 was OK!

  • *cough* Must mean you must be still running 95 *cough*

USB support didn't come out until 95c, and 95 had a lot of bugs, until 98. So don't get me started, Mr. Denial.

  • Sad part is I read the other day that Microsoft is putting XP into the dusty virtual warehouse of memories and will make PC users move onto Vista. If I were you guys and not an Apple user, I would say to run Linux Ubuntu, and buy a gaming console to play games. Why spend all that money on Vista when it's a piece of garbage? Hasta la Vista, baby! Or better yet, buy a Mac, and start living life. Can run Vista on Mac just as well as a PC any day and play Windows games.

  • Vista is awesome. People just hate change. XP never was any good, it was slow once you installed anything into it. Buy a mac yeah and have a proprietary pos

  • motox, proprietary? I'm sorry but if you think Microsoft isn't proprietary, I don't know what proprietary means. At least, Apple lets you install another piece of software other than Apple and still run as well. If you install Firefox on Windows, some software programs won't even load anything but IE 7. Apple let's you chunk Safari and use Firefox as if it were the native browser. Apple is not proprietary. It has select hardware, driver components, but that's for stability. So, you're wrong!

  • no i not talking software...i am talking hardware. You have to go to a mac store to buy anything. PC i can goto any store and buy any printer, wifi card, anything

  • That's funny, becuase you can easily install Firefox on windows with 0 problems. There are many browsers that will work alongside Internet Explorer 6 7 or the new 8 in beta. If you somehow failed to make that work, its user error, not OS error.

  • Vista is just slow. its okay but slow.

I use the Windows server 2008 workstation [; its got the eye candy of vista and its way faster.

  • 08 is awesome i beta tested it the 64bit version.

  • I think we need to wait for Windows 7. Maybe Microsoft can recover form its Vista embarrassment. Well, recover as in the Windows world and its Microsoft customers. If Microsoft doesn't do something by 2012, Apple has a very good chance of taking the market with OS X/Vista Dual boot and gaming as well.

  • Windows 2008 has got a Aero like in Windows Vista???

  • Yup it does

  • It isn't the default theme, though, is it? And It would be better to run vista if you aren't running a server. But Macs in my opinion are the best.

  • Macs in my opinon is the best too. i love them. i just cant afford one.

  • motox, I'm sorry, but I finally used Vista on this poor woman's computer the other day when I was helping her fix her wireless internet. I have to say it's the worst OS I've ever seen in my life, and I've been in computing for over 20 years. XP's environment is far better than Vista, and even XP sucks, but not as bad as Vista.

  • I have to deal with that everyday too ...

  • m$ and ibm developed 1.0 and 1.1 together.

m$ then did their own os/2 2.0 lan manager crap

and after that they renamed it wintendo nt (3.5) and replaced the gui with the crappy wintendo one

the old nt kernel and drivers still have the string os/2 in it

  • Lots of Automatic Teller Machines used OS/2

I'm glad M$ killed off IBM's OS/2, because it left a vacuum for linux, the BSDs to fill.

  • windows 95 is better than that

  • See the OS/2 Windows shootout. OS/2 warp which came out before Windows 95 is better designed by far. Windows NT 3.0 development started with IBM and Microsoft was originally calling it OS/2 3.0.

  • OS/2 was acquired by Microsoft which became NT, then 2000, then XP, and finally Vista.

  • Not really... OS/2 was developer by a joint venture of IBM and Microsoft initially and never acquired by Microsoft... ;-)

  • OS/2 2.0 was the beginning of development exclusivly by IBM. Microsoft developed 1.0 to 1.3 of which version after 1.0 looks a lot like Windows 3.0.

  • os/2 was really good back then. Thats when the virtual age started...I still have my os 2 I upgraded it to xp:) And added 2 gigs of ram!!

    so its like anew pc!

  • Rolling Stones - Start me up

  • OS/2 was better than DOS and Windows. That's not saying much. Pretty uninteresting OS overall. Look at what was available at the same time in NeXTStep, and later on in BeOS.

  • Yes, I've owned a NeXTCube too! And like OS/2 on MCA it did not pickup on my waves :P and crash.

  • NEXTSTEP is cool! OS/2 was like linux, a decent alternative to Windows.

  • it had windows build right into it's architecture, windows 3.1 was in it's code it ran windows and os/2 apps simutainusly

  • Warp 3.0 had two versions. Blue Spine came with Win 3.1 and Red Spine didn't. If you had 3.1 on disk you could install it in the Red Spine. Versions during OS/2 4.x I believe came with 3.1 built in. Although I never used 4.x or EcomStation.

  • remember the "Boot >64MB in OS/2" option in bios? did 64mb really pose a problem to the os2?

  • Long live OS/2 and eCS!

One more happy OS/2er here in Melbourne, Australia.

  • Add another Australian OS/2 Warper (from Sydney) to your list! OS/2 Warp Server Advanced 4. Can't wait for them to come out with a server version of eCS (maybe called eComServer?)

  • lol great song

  • Live On OS/2!!!!

    eComStation will live on forever.

  • no OS smells like a rose

  • Most of 'em smell like shit.

  • OS/2 is not done yet! For it lives on as Ecom Station! Google it.

  • It also continues to live in NAB (National Australia Bank) teller machines.

  • I didn't know that! Then again, why would I, I've never been anywhere outside of North America. (please ignore the country name in my profile, I do not live in Australia.)

  • That explains the cool UI a see at the screens of NAB and their ATMs!

  • OS2 is look like a macintosh

  • Same folks did the icons.

  • this song was one of the first mp3s i ever had

  • what's the name of this song? i wanna put it on my myspace, haha

  • That was a crack up but you should do the same with Warp 4. It's got the speech recognition built-in and Bill Gates won't shut up about speech recognition.

I think Warp 4 came out in 1996. Had Java built-in too.

  • We believe that OS/2 is the platform for the 90's.

Sounds so odd hearing a phrase like that in 2007.

  • This demonstration was running OS/2 Warp 3.0, Pent 90MHZ, 40mb ram (12mb recommended), 800mb of HD. OS/2 with all the apps took up less than 80mb.

  • lol thats pretty good, you make a rich man cum... haha!
