Junk man, we are unfortunate enough to have nasty bugs every where and my car will have bug guts all over the front end after a short drive on the highway, how would you deal with them? My old car had one spot permanently damaged because of a big juicy bug that I couldn't repair even by using wet sanding.
@yqatari If you keep a VERY GOOD SEALANT on your paint, bug guts will wash off with a garden hose. You have to be PREVENTIVE when it comes to bug guts, not reactive. You also have to wash them off RIGHT AWAY. You never allow them to sit on your paint for more than 24 hours, and never in direct sunlight.
Remove them ASAP or you'll keep experiencing damaged paint.
Junk man , when washing you are only using one side of the mit , rotate it 180 degrees on your hand after you figure you have enough dirt in that side , ya will get double the wash coverage between mit cleaning . Great vids
Im sure you do but you never demonstrated it in the video as you only used one side before you rinsed the mit in the clean water bucket or mentioned anything of the mit change over. Also I am sure you are using a GFI Receptical with that leaf blower with all that water on the floor as we would like you to make more videos and if not , you lookin to fry your car cleanen ass . Even with a GFI this is something I personally whoud not do , electricity and water don't mix.
i got one of my co-workers buffing/polishing it for me. hes been painting for 20+ years.. all he does at work is touch up what other painters mess up.. haha, like fish eyes in the paint, dirt, scratches, etc. etc. hes really good. one other thing i want to ask you is about car covers.. i dont have a garage at home to keep the car in, so is there any car cover that u know of that would be good to use? or do u just suggest washing as i use the car? its really just my weekend car : )
hey junkman! loving these videos, just bought a 2012 ss camaro in black. i know i know black paint = high maintenance. but i loved how she looked and couldnt help myself. so anyway. the dealer "detailed" it before i picked it up and i now have a few swirl marks. so im getting it buffed n polished later this week and start fresh. i have a question tho. i saw your videos and was wondering, after you foam. what do you put into your 1st "wash" bucket? i noticed its foamy and not plain water. THANKS!
@lKimber510 I use Adam's Car Shampoo in my wash bucket.
Now about your car. Who is going to do this detail later on this week? You might be setting yourself up for even more damage. What products and what type of polisher is this detailer going to use? If I were you, I would learn to do it myself. It's hard to find some true detailers out there these days that actually know what they are doing. Look at what the hacks at the dealership did and they are working on NEW cars. SCARY!
@TheShootTruth10 You use one mitt for the top half of the car and the second mitt for the bottom half of the car. The bottom half is ALWAYS more dirty than the top half so you want to use a separate mitt for for the bottom. That way, if a stray piece of grit gets stuck in the mitt, you don't end up grinding it across the top of the car where the damage can be easily seen.
would it be better to do the car section by section (tops, then upper upper sides, then bottom sides)? It seems like most of the foam fell off the car
@bherzog2 The fact that the foam fell off the car is fine. It has done the job of loosening up the matted dirt so that it is now safe to start a 2-bucket wash. That' the only purpose of the foam.
@Junkman2000 Actually, I do and am quite an accomplished detailler (during the April-Novenber - I am Canadian - cold), but I watch the videos more because you transmit your passion for detailling and also because you give real elaborate explanations. Sometimes, I have a friend or 2 over, and we just detail our cars. I<m such a nut, I wash AND wax my car every week!
Thanks for, yet another, great video Junkman. Any recommendations on what I can do differently to make my Gilmour Foam Gun perform like yours did? I have the same unit, but I am not seeing foam like that at all. I use the same setting you do as well, but the water/soap mixture doesn't empty from the unit as fast as yours did. It seems like the hose water is running through the unit and the soap mixture is not coming out. Any thoughts? Thanks buddy!
@kakeuter It could be one of two things. First, who's soap are you using? I'm using Adam's in these videos. Second, the adjusting control that determines how much soap is dispensed has to be turned so that the hole lines up and clicks. If not, no soap will come out. Do you know what I'm talking about?
@Junkman2000 I have Meguiar's HyperWash in the gun now, when I first got the gun I was using the Meguiar's and it seemed to work great. I know what you mean about the foam setting and feeling the holes line up. I didn't know if it needed cleaned or anything (although it's hardly been used). I need to just hook up the hose and play around with it some more.
@kakeuter It needs to be cleaned every time you use it! You turn off the soap and run water through it at the end of every use. Sounds like your soap has clogged it up.
@DetailDream I used 2 ounces of Adam's car wash and filled the rest with water. Fill up the container half way with water and then add the two ounces of soap. Top it off with water after that. That allows the soap to mix better as you whirl the water around to completely mix the soap. DO NOT SHAKE. That does nothing but make bubbles.
quick question for you here, which wash-mits are best to wash with- sheepskin(fur) or those noodle and mesh washmits (like the green mit you used in this video)??
@skylinefan3465 It's a preference thing. I like the ones in the video for the reasons that I stated. Some people prefer the fur ones. It's really a individual preference, not a one better than the other thing.
I had a little gamble with myself over whether you'd release the trigger on the foam gun when passing the across the post. I knew you'd stay on the power ;)
@Roxlo Maybe if you used some type of acid soap (or Dawn), it would! But the soap I use in these videos (Adam's Car Wash), ain't stripping anything fast.

@lKimber510 You need to join Adam's Forums (or Camaro5 Forums), and look at the writeup I did on car covers. It will answer all of your questions.
