  • Salimah is Hotter than the BBQ, when was this interview? I live 3 blocks from here...

  • I am taking my cues from Canada on who I vote for in Nov. Just because I like the way they say out.

  • idogid- I read your whole comment-it's what I do. I thought I could smell something funny yesterday. It must have been when you typed "*laughs in your face*" in your commment. Man that typing ficticious actions in between ** really works. You are a mysterious magical being. Send me some money and I can ship you down some mouth wash. *laughs not really in your face but in a southerly direction* Did you hear me? Let me know if I did it wrong. I want to be magical too.

  • To ByFife76: to assert this "could have [been] done 200 years ago" (election by gender or race) shows a decided lack of historical education: blacks in the USA were still enslaved at that time and women had no right to vote, much less run for office. US-legislated or tolerated racial discrimination has continued until today; regarding gender, the ERA has never been ratified. So it is an issue in your country that even now proves difficult; 200 years ago it would have been a sheer impossibility.

  • scarbluff: Thanks for the history refresher. I re-read my post that you reference and I couln't find anywhere that I said we could have elected a woman or black 200 years ago. Maybe you can help out here as well? As an aside, are you in agreement that sex and race should not play a part in selecting government officials? Please select "Reply" to my comment as I do not scan through all posts hunting for replies to my previous posts. If I had thirty vacation days I might do that, but I don't have.

  • Sorry, I may have misunderstood your text. Yes, of course I am in agreement that neither sex nor race should play a role; it's a shame that either one or the other has been made an issue (or abused as one) at all, but we don't live in a perfect world. True, it would be of symbolic value to break the "barrier", but electing on that basis would mean the point was lost, i.e. that neither should be of any issue at all, pro or contra. The media perpetuates this nonsense by constantly harping on it.

  • I don't understand his last point - the U.S. won't have the strength to go up against North Korea, because they can not fight three wars. What difference does it make? The liberal media and their weak minded audience can't stand for us to be at war anyway. Oh sure-maybe if NKorea would detonate a nuclear bomb the country would be behind war, but only for a couple months. The liberal media is a tool of our enemy - same as our weak minded citizens and politians.

  • Good souls don't indulge cruelty. They tend toward compassion for all beings. They enter conflict reluctantly, only after other options are exhausted. That's not weakness - that's being distinctively human, as opposed to residing in the most primitive, reptilian parts of the brain/psyche. If there has been weak-mindedness in America, it has been public complacency before the essentially corrupt leaders who they continue to ALLOW to do as they please.

  • It's nice to see that Americans are not the only ones who can not describe what Obama stands for beyond "change". Oh sure lots of people like him, but they don't really know why-even Canadian Koreans. Why are so many people so quick to say that they like Obama, but, when they are asked why, they don't have an answer beyond "change". What is the "change"? No one knows. It seems like a valid question though. Don't you think we should evaluate the "change" before we support it-before it's too late?

  • majoha2020, you're so ignorant and uneducated fool. because of Americans like you we get the bad rap all around the world. there are many Indians and Pakistani in Canada's parliament you racist fool.

  • nither those asian or the muslim woman is american or canadian

  • Think about how other countries view us; think about how we view America?I honestly think Barack Obama is the best choice. If he wins he'll be the first African American president and most likely he'll want to set a good example. If MCcain wins it will be the same as Bush, if not worst. If Hilary wins, everyone will be paying for Universal health care and that's not morally correct. Obama will let people choose if they want to join Universal health care & protect us from AlQaeda w/o wasting troops

  • I think this video highlights a very important issue - yes, really. I was recently talking to my brother in law, who lives in Indonesia. He confirmed what I already suspected, that the world is watching this election very closely. He also said to me, and I to you, that you should not underestimate the significance of having a female or a black leading this country. It will strongly challenge many people's deeply held convictions about this country, and in a good way.

  • I completely agree with you on this; we have a long way to go to undo the damage done to our reputation abroad and to undo centuries of misogynistic and racist views in our own land. I am personally very excited about what could be a great chapter in our country's history. Let's just hope the voters are truly heard this time!

  • There is nothing wrong with having a "female or a black" as president of this country as long as that person is the right person for the job. It's not worth throwing in someone, because of their race or sex just for that reason. That would be racist or sexist and thus un-american. The candidate needs to be selected based upon their policies, abilities and character. Why would we throw away what this country stands for just to look good to other countries? We could have done that a 200 years ago

  • Hill Country Texas is "still" (mostly) beautiful

Texas was always democratic and libertarian!

However, in 1988 Californians flooded the state and politic -- Californians are for big government and big tax

Anyone who lived in the "real" Texas, (prior to 1988) remembers every pickup having bumper sticker, "secede"

And when Hippy Hollow was free!

After the Californians, Texas was no longer free in any sense of the word!

Now there are too many regs to drive a jet ski without breaking a law

  • i get that veracifier is trying to show the human interest slices of the election, but i'm really not interested in the amateur reporter telling korean people they moved from the land of great sushi to barbeque as an icebreaker. this whole segment just perpetuates the same empty ideas, that this election is all framed within race and sex. yuck.

  • What a stupid video

  • No more cowboy-wannabe presidents.

  • I believe the comment about land of the great sushi was directed not towards Korea or Japan but to Vancouver. Vancouver has more sushi resturants then coffee cafe's. There's a big culture around sushi there they make some of the best in the world cheaply. When I lived in Vancouver I'd eat it every other day. Everybody loves it there.

  • Cute girl D:

  • sushi? idiot.

  • The word 'Sushi' certainly japanese. but the food to which the word refers has existed in both countries simultaneously that there is no point in crediting it to one country or the other.

it just so happens that we in the west were exposed to the japanese culture before that of korea, hence the former's nomenclature.

this sort of thing exists between any two or more similar cultures. e.g. cambodia-thailand, sweden-norway...

    etc....

  • sushi's japanese.... not korean.... omgshhhh... -_-

  • Since when is Korea the land of great sushi? Why not say great kimchee? I am surprised another asian would be so culturally insensitive. Its good they are interested in the election though.

  • Actually he is partially correct. Korea had the "california roll" style sushi first. It was their thing first.

But the Japanese ALWAYS had the sashimi style sushi, sashimi is purely Japanese. Sashimi is the slabs of raw meat usually placed on top of a rice ball and held together by a small piece of seaweed. While the Korean "california roll" stlye has everything chopped up and mixed together and wrapped inside seaweed.

  • And the California Roll is made with fake crab, which means fake sushi...just my opinion, of course. Hey, don't hate me for being a purist, but I wouldn't go to El Pollo Loco for DimSum.

  • You get what you pay for. It is harder to preserve real crab meat in the supermarket fridges. Korean sushi is the roll type. Japanese sushi is the big slabs of meat, called sashimi. So I am not sure what you mean by the whole El Pollo Loco comment. And everyone knows that if you want Dim Sum...you go to Bi Feng Tang.....

  • Ron would be fucking great for the states.

If you think other just present his points to your econ professor.

  • Sure, let's vote for a guy who can't win...voting for Ron Paul would be throwing away your vote and probably giving the win to McCain like back when Nader ran and Bush took the election from Gore because of him...

  • well, majoha, one thing is for sure: you're a racist.

  • why imma a racist

  • what the hell is your problem???

  • what do you mean is my promblem

  • She is Muslim. Salimah Ebrahim--> Muslim. And yes she is Canadian.... What is your beef with non-White immigrants anyway?

  • i have no problem whit muslims but shes not really a real canadian thats just like in the U.S they are not americans only real americans are the native americans and the whites and blacks thats it its the same for canada the native candians and the whites and blacks thats it

  • Indigenous Americans are Red Indians. Chinese and Swedes have been America before other other Whites or Blacks. Anyway, it is dumb to give 1 country to one race and not the other... E.g. I am a Sikh. Sikhs have been coming to USA since 1880. Doesn't that make us part of US. Arabs were in USA since the 1700s (they sold slaves). Chinese claim to have gone there just after Columbus. Why is it that only black and white people are the only immigrants right to call our country our home?

  • well let me correct you native Americans have been here b4 any other race then came the whites and then the blacks and we 3 groups were here b4 any of yous guys got here we built this country chinesse and Arabs did not start coming here in Gaylor till the 60s you guys have just gotta here and i must say i believe that the reason you guys were allowed here like you were was because America wanted to stick it to the blacks and native American

if you want can tell you how and why they did

  • Majoha2020 is clearly a very ignorant person. Please go get an education and travel around some. Visit other countries. You are making the world think that Americans are idiots.

  • i do have an education dick head and i can back everything ive just said whit research and other things and i don't give a fuck what the world thinks what i said was true only real Americans whit roots that trace back to i don't know when are blacks whites and native Americans

  • There's no way the whites would have traveled so long without there slaves. The blacks came over the same time the whites did.

  • and your point is ????

  • Sike!
