  • Cleveland really did get fucked over by those refs. If I remember correctly this happened in 2001 ( I could be wrong) in which the rules as pointed out you can't challenge the play when the ball has been snapped on the next play. The fans didn't help by throwing bottles on the field, but yeah the browns did get screwed.

  • Listened to this game on the radio (was in HS and at work). Never realized Gus Johnson called this game. The Law of Gus Johnson goes back further than I thought!

  • GO JAGUARS!!!

  • @MrBJ82183 FAIL

  • i love being a browns fan :)

  • @cjamesb3 Why they lose every year. The browns are as bad as the city of Cleveland which is a toilet.

  • Was that a question that ended in a period?

  • Personally as a saints fan i think this call was just one big mistake.

I just think refrees are just a bunch of quary old dawfs who wish they were we not there

  • I'm an Eagles fan, however I completely understand the Brown's fans on this one. That call was BS.

  • Fuck those announcers saying the fans should control themselves...they should have burnt that motherfucker down after that reaming by the refs.

  • the browns fans "BULLSHIT BULLSHIT BULLSHIT BULLSHIT" and so on lol

  • I remember the week after the game ESPN took a call from a Joe in Philadelphia who said - Don't waste overpriced beer on overpaid officials - use old batteries and lug nuts instead !!!

  • time to let the refs know who is boss. Browns fan and damn proud of it!

  • I hope all these referees lost their jobs....that was a crime....

  • I'm a Browns fan. I remember this play and I remember analyzing this play as they were replaying it.

    1) They ran another play

    2) It was NOT a catch. Why? Because the ball was not held firm at any point. It was slipping out. Thats why he finally lost it as he hit the turf.

  • Whta's really funny is that I've heard stories of Refs ruling in favor of the home team just to avoid a riot. Bottles were being thrown LONG before the decision was announced and they still went with that call. lol.

  • This is one of the biggest Referee screwjobs I have ever seen. That doesn't excuse the fans' behavior, but that series of calls fucking sucked. First of all, it was a damn catch. Second, ran another play which should have nullified any chance of a review anyway. Terrible officiating.

  • Huge Packer fan here I dont blame the fans one bit

  • Coming from a non Browns fan, this may be the single worst call in NFL history!

  • are they chanting bullsh#t?

  • @7475flyersfan

    Yup, I love that.

  • shit. i'm a huge bengals fan but this break my heart.

  • i remember this. New orleans saints had a scene like this i think the very next week too. boy did the refs screw that up.

  • This video is incomplete! Hey, where's the rest? Does the guy who posted this video realize that NFL Commisioner Paul Taglibue ordered the refs and the teams BACK onto the field to finish out the final 48 seconds? Yeah....and the refs had to dodge swarms of thrown bottles a 2nd time!

  • The worse refereeing ever. Not only did they botch the call big time, they overstepped their authority by ending the game.

  • AS A RAIDER FAN FUCK THE ZEBRAZZ

  • I have to say that this BY A LONG SHOT was the worst call I have ever seen in any sport sad but the sport is getting worse ever year the guys who call these games suck every single one of them is not like it used to be thats for sure

  • i can't help but to think about sam wyche's comment, "you don't live in cleveland, you live in cincinnati.'' he got on the p.a. system and said this to the crowd when a similar situation happened in cinci.

  • com'on cleveland you have one good field with grass and you make it look like the rest of your city.

  • @menard98 You ever been to Cleveland? Obviously not. Born and raised, don't knock it to you come and live here.

  • @benidictcleveland

I agree. I live in Columbus but have visited Cleveland many times and like the city. Well, I am a Browns fan so I may be biased but there are a lot of restaurants, malls, etc. Also, the area in Berea and other suburbs are just a lovely places to live.

  • If I were on that Cleveland Browns team, I would straight up kill all of those officials. They are costing me money, a chance at a ring, and they are taking away something I worked day and night for all my life.

I'm sorry, but when you fail that bad at your job like this officiating crew did, then you deserve to be fired, pelted by not just plastic but glass bottles, and forced to leave the state of Cleveland forever (if I was governor, I would have these men imprisoned for no clear reason).

  • Nickle Beer Night, part 2

  • Wanna get away?

  • i love the crowd chant of 'bullshit'. which it was. total screw job by the officiating crew.

  • I just love that it's called 'Bottlegate.' I think Cleveland fans are the funniest in sports.

  • when i was a kid a fan threw a bottle and it hit the ref who blew the call right on the head. it was a glass whiskey bottle. it was a disgrace.

  • now THIS was painful to watch

  • @MrMDV96

one more reason to $hitcan the whole replay procedure and quit wasting our time. just ask harbaugh and the ravens.

  • NFL=National fixed League

  • @Fade2Orion WRONG...NFL=Not For Long.

  • My Moms A Jaguars Fan Be4 U Ask Yes She Was Glad They 1 But She Was Also Dissapointd That Thry Threw Bottles

  • @LeTsGeTsOmEcOoKiEs good lord learn how to spell dumbass.

  • Democracy at its finest. Should have been a full scale riot. In Europe this is normal. In America this is somehow shocking and offensive.

  • @ProtagorasEmber Because we have class.

  • @ProtagorasEmber because Europeans are morons americans are not civilized is what i have here from many Europeans. but americans are not people who riot over sports. we are civilized unlike u europeans that think they are all that because they kill someone over a sport

  • @ProtagorasEmber Because its wrong. Just because it's normal in one country doesn't mean it's right.

  • This never was about if QM made the catch, he didn't by the way. The Browns quick snapped a play right after. NFL rules say once another play is run you can never go back to review the previous play (the QM drop). Every NFL team has tried the same thing and been successful at it. You don't give the opposing coaches a chance to determine if it should be challenged. Of course, the replay rules are a bit different now...but at the time of this video, the Browns were crazy screwed.

  • @punchsmack

You have it backwards, the rules were different back then. Back then all they needed was a buzz prior to the snap in order to replay the play, even if they didn't stop the play. Now the rules are that you have to stop the play before the snap. And Terry McAulay made sure that other referees were buzzed prior to the snap, and made sure that it was a legal review, and he announced that "Replay buzzed prior to the snap, we'll be looking to see if the pass was caught ot not"

  • the fans should have gone crazy and attacked like in soccer. thatd be amazing

  • Somehow I just cannot see a crime like this ever happening to the Patriots.....only against a team like the Browns or maybe the Bills too for example...you know?

  • @cannibalcrpsegrinder or raiders

  • I remember ESPN radio the next week taking an email from a fan named Joe from Philadelphia. In it he said - Don't waste overpriced beer on overpaid officials. Use old batteries and lug nuts instead !!!

  • The fix was in.

  • That's the game where the Grinch (referee and other officials that day) stole Christmas from the Cleveland Browns. As a Ravens fan, I feel for the Browns and the fans.

  • @1010monkeylover You should feel for the Browns fans. The team you root for should still be in Cleveland, thus saving Browns fans from all of the heartache they've been through since they returned to the league.

  • I know this guy who broke 2 TVs on this day. Well one of them was because of anger of this game. He threw something and it smashed the TV set.

The other one he was moving multiple pieces of furniture around at once. This included a set of drawers with the tv on it and the tv slid off and crashed.

But still even though people have no right to lose control over a football game, this is understandable!

  • i bet anything if Steeler fans did this, all the Browns fans would call the Steelers Fans stupid idots which makes me laugh. Seriously as i watch this I just more upset because people love to hate on Steeler fans, but the last time I checked Steeler fans never vandalized their own stadium and climbed down the evolutionary latter this far.

  • @3Djunkie1984 The Steelers have never been robbed of a playoff game. The closest thing to that was that awful Steelers defensive back play that lead to the Steelers getting John three sixteen'd by Tim Tebow.

  • there is no excuse for this type of behavior. It was a terrible call by the refs nobody is denying that, but seriously when it all boils down to it, its just a game. There is no reason for people to be throwing shit on the field, you just make things worse and make yourselves look dumb. Anybody who defends the fans here seriously needs to check themselves and see how barbaric this is. Truly disgusting behavior that should not be applauded by anyone.

  • If you got hosed by refs as much as we have you would throw bottles and more! We had every right to lose our minds about this!

  • @myawesomhubby

Wrong!! nobody has a right to lose control over a football game. people who were not even involved with the call were getting hurt. Its really easy for a fan to say that the Refs hosed the browns, but Refs are human beings like everyone else, and being human you can make mistakes. I would like to see one football fan I dont care what team they follow, try and officiate a game. Lets see how they would handle a situation where they might have messed up a call.

  • @3Djunkie1984 Maybe the refs are human, but that doesn't excuse their unprofessionalism they displayed that game. It just goes to show you that there's always going to be some level of incompitance in referees officiating games.

  • BROWNS AND JAGUARS USED TO BE FRIENDS OF THE AFC CENTRAL DIVISION FAMILIES; HOWEVER, THEY ARE NO MORE FRIENDS. BROWNS AND JAGUARS ARE ENEMIES RIGHT NOW. THE CLEVELAND BROWNS ARE IN THE AFC NORTH, AND THE JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS ARE IN THE AFC SOUTH.

  • Hahahaha Cleveland sucks the dawg pound is known as the shit pound in Pittsburgh the steelers make Cleveland their bitch! Harrison made McCoy his bitch a few weeks ago

    Go steelers!

  • @dega4amp Looks like the Steelers were Tebow's bitch this year!!!! Eitherway the Steelers and Ravens are aging and the Houston Texans are rising...with Schuab coming back and us adding another top reciever coupled with with our Defense WE ARE THE FUTURE OF THE NFL!!!

  • And Browns fans call Steeler fans sore losers lol

  • Browns fans are the best!!!

  • I love the ref's body language when he calls the game over. He's just like, "I have got to get the hell out of here." Horrible ref.

  • I love when fans get wild. It's so awesome.

  • this coulda changed tim couchs career, haha

  • If this happened in 2011, Jacksonville would have been flagged for unnecessary roughness on a defenseless receiver.

  • full respect to the cleveland fans, absolutely horrible play calling

  • and i thought raider fans were bad... least cleveland had reason

  • Comment removed

  • total fuck-a-row by the officials-got the call totally wrong[under the rules back then, it's a catch] PLUS they go back after a play's already been run?

    ridiculous

  • Those refs deserved to get pummelled. I'm not even a Browns fans, but they are a bunch of crooks.

  • Comment removed

  • lol wait isn't that spike intentional grounding? they called that on caleb hanie weeks ago haha

  • @simpsonsrock06 Funny enough, when I watched the game live, I thought that's what the review was for originally. Pissed me off when they turned back time and two plays.

  • u deserve to have the game called. Bunch of animals thats why ur little expansion team will always b a joke.

  • You're only hurting yourself by throwing things on the field? In what way is that true? What's the worst thing that could happen, you get thrown out of the game, which is already over anyway.

  • And heeeeerrrrreeee commmmmme the pretzels!

  • @croutonthegreat black day for baseball...

  • lucky the fans didn't run after the "officals"

  • @KernalOfTruth My mom says "Oh they probably have so much security". Yeah well a few hundred cops won't stand a snowball's chance in Hell against tens of thousands of angry fans!

  • This Generation if this happend again i guarentee you everyone would clear thier seats and beat the shit out of those refs.

  • lolol wow that was quite impressive Brown fans. I think we Philly fans need to do something again to regain our throne. lol

  • hahahahahahaha. the fans hurting themselves

  • Cleveland always gets screwed outa games like this..... Browns till i die!

  • Gawd, to think there was actually a time when a win over Jacksonville actually meant something. . .

  • did they make the playoffs?

  • we had a great team that year too..bullshit call...GO BROWNS!!

  • all those refs deserved to get hit by bottles and fired.

  • As a ravens fan, I gotta say... I have to give Cleveland their due here, they were cheated out of the win. Definitely made the NFL look bad.

  • @overdrive2000 No, they weren't. It all comes down to 'Did he make the catch?' which he didn't. If he had just made the catch cleanly, none of the botched replay stuff would have mattered, because it wouldn't have been overturned. But the receiver dropped the ball, and Cleveland tried to cover it up by running a play before the refs could replay it. Is it right that the whole replay issue was botched? No. But the Browns didn't get cheated. He didn't make the catch.

  • @matrixphijr . ''It all comes down to 'Did he make the catch?' which he didn't.''

different rules then-none of that 'must make a football move' stuff

just had to catch it and have two feet down. that's a catch

the game has changed, in case you are a youngster

  • @PorkFrog Then why was it overturned?

You're arguing against yourself here. I never said he did or didn't "make a football move." I said he never caught the ball cleanly, so when the ball came out, it made it incomplete. Forget the botched replay stuff. If he had actually made the catch, the play would have stood and the Browns would have just had to re-spike it. THAT lost the game, not the refs. And while I may be a "youngster" by some standards, I've been around long enough to know football.

  • @matrixphijr ''Then why was it overturned?''

how much football have you watched-haven't you ever seen the zebras get it wrong even with replay?

    sometimes they do.

'If he had actually made the catch, the play would have stood..'

the refs do not always get it right with replay, as that statement seems to say

seen SO many games where the announcers say after replay 'I do not agree with that call' and sometimes I agree with the announcers

  • @PorkFrog Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot the NFL was conspiring against the Browns, and whether a call is right or wrong is all predicated on what the announcers say. I think maybe you've watched too MUCH football. Or CIA movies, actually.

Long story short, if you think that's a catch, I probably can't explain to you why it isn't, because you either won't understand, or just deny anything I say. He bobbled the ball, then dropped it as he went to the ground. Then the DAWG pound showed its immaturity.

  • @matrixphijr I'm sorry-did you say something?

  • @PorkFrog Nope, you're good.

  • @overdrive2000 - not like they had scored a TD yet, so they were cheated out of a chance (or 3) to win - not like they were a prolific offense either - either way, typical Cleveland. At least the former Browns are in the title game!

  • lol @ the "bull shit" chant

  • Happy 10 year anniversary to the Beer Bottle Game!

  • The one announcer in this video is a total jackass. He is trying to communicate to the fans in the stadium on a TV broadcast ? What a tool ! I am a Browns fan, I remember seeing this. I wonder why people got pissed off that day... I mean we only lost our team and only got it back a few years prior to this.

  • Referees got what they deserved. I wish the Giants fans had the balls to do this during the butt-fucking the referees were giving their team when they played the packers!

  • someone got knocked out by a plastic bottle? how the?

  • @tostedcheeseman They were throwing glass bottles. There were no plastic bottles at this time. The plastic bottles were created because of this incident.

  • @BB13131313 there were no plastic bottles in 2001?

  • @tostedcheeseman Not really when it came to beer. There was a time when beer only came in cans and glass bottles. Not all the alluminum bottles you see today were used then. No glass allowed in Cleveland Browns Stadium after this game.

  • Most dedicated fans in football................PERIOD!

  • @PUCK271 Dedicated is Seattle, stupid is this.

  • @PUCK271 thanks Puck..that's respect homie..appreciate that

  • @geor1717 Hell yeah man!!!!!! Unlike most other NFL teams fans.....Us Clevelanders live and die with our team........Please tell me your going to the game New Years day to bitch out some faggot squealer fans and cheer the Brownies to victory!!!!

  • @PUCK271 you think the browns will beat the steelers?HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @UserName0043 While it is likely that the Steelers will beat the Browns... we are still true fans. See you Sunday. See you every Sunday, whether we are bad or good, we will be there. And we are almost always realists... but there are some idiots who aren't...

  • dude i hate the browns bith a passion...BUT they TOTALLY got BUTT SCREWED ON THAT CALL. TO THIS DAY MY DAD AND STILL SAY THATS ONE OF THE MOST BULLSHIT CALLS IN NFL HISTORY. BROWNS WERE ACTUALLY GOOD THAT YEAR PLAYOFFS PROBABLY A SUPERBOWL TOTALLY FUCKED UP

  • this left a gash in my childhood for sure, but after that Caleb Hanie play last weekend that's Intentional Grounding if you ask me..but this whole moment in time gets a huge C'Mon Man from me

  • Watching this made me as mad as I was on that dark day. Cleveland got jobbed. And then the media came down on the fans, as if they were to blame. It was the naif ref who was totally at fault.

  • Daaaamn..how many times has cleveland been screwed?

  • @DIZZY7222 a super computer couldnt count high enough.

  • thamks dude.

  • OK wow wow wowowow. Alright are you freakin serious? One- that was a mutha fuckin catch. two- if a play has been run, it can be overruled.

  • I remember when this happened. I'm a Steelers fan and even I agree they got ROYALLY robbed on that one. Total freaking BS.

  • And 3. When was this game?

  • 2 questions: 1. Why they ended the game like that? 2. What did the nfl do after watching this?

  • i knew the browns got fucked over before but i never knew it was this bad

  • "Split his head wide open" hahaha. first of all, you couldnt see that from the pressbox, and second, that wouldnt even happen unless it was an axe to the head or a car accident or something....

  • @simpsonsfiend75 or the fact that they said 2 minutes before that he said the bottles were plastic.

  • run, Forrest, run!

  • This and the Oakland Raider 2001 screwjob are the 2 biggest FUs in NFL history.

  • @ejr23 Thats was not a screwjob Brady's arm was moving forward & that is a incomplete pass so that for the Radiers did not get fucked in that game & it's 2011 that was almost 10 years ago move on & stop crying about it

  • @resdsox1 Even though this one scenario is wrestling, Canadian fans are still bitching about the Montreal Screwjob. The way I see it, Bret Hart screwed himself over and not HBK. HBK was still getting hissed at by Canadian fans 10 years after the event.

  • @ejr23 Oh yeah I remember watching that when I was 8 years old I used to watch wrestling when I was a kid now I'm 22 but I got over that match after a month when I was 8 well... because I'm from America no disrepect to Canada on that, & growing up Bret Hart was my favorite wrestler

  • @resdsox1 BULLSHIT. That was a grade A screw job. Brady himself even admitted that they got away with the call. The Patriots didn't deserve to win that game.

  • @ejr23 Did you watch the referees save the Packers from the Giants?

  • @ejr23 tuck rule makes no sense

  • @ejr23 what can i type in to find that??

  • @cheaner1 What are you referring to my friend?

  • @ejr23 well i mean i'm just not sure what happened to the 2001 oakland raiders, did they get screwed over by another horrific call?

  • @cheaner1 Type in "Tuck Rule Raiders" in the search field on youtube.

  • @ejr23 wow thanks, i saw it, i can't believe the call wasn't upheld. But what year was this incident with the bottle throwing? 2001?

  • @cheaner1 I think this one was 2001. The fans were out of line here, but I probably would have reacted the same way.

  • who's going to get hurt by a plastic bottle?

  • Clearly, there is no god

  • the guy at 2:15 is yelling "get the team off the field coach!" If I were butch davis I would have been like "lets go"

  • Still can't believe some asshole chucked a boombox and busted a woman's head wide open. Cleveland fans were utterly despicable that day.

  • @SashaNein No worse than Eagles fans. They're total dirtbags!

  • @SashaNein

    Fucking WAAAAAAAH!

  • malfunction these NUTS!

  • Well thats what they get for serving miller products. Yuck!

  • This was a bullshit call. I mean, I'm not a fan of either team, but it looks to me like Quincy Morgan had full possession of the football. It looks to me like a conspiracy.

  • As a Browns fan I have to say this has to be one of the most, if not THE most embarassing moments in Browns history! NO call is worth people being hurt or killed. It is a GAME! You want to hurt or kill, put it in a positive light by signing up for the armed forces to defend America. Throwing anything and everything putting countless people in danger over a game!?!? That was DISGUSTING!

  • I'm a Jags fan, but I agree that the refs did a terrible job. Noone in the stands knew what was going on, and not once did they get on the mic to say if something was being reviewd or anything, they just let the fans take control, and I was wanting to see the end of the game, i didnt care about the win, they should have gave them a warning, not just call it, noone knew why they stopped the game in the first place

  • To the referees: Don't piss off the Dog Pound!

  • Typical Cleveland fan reaction. A city of losers wants to win without earning it. They don't mind failing to catch a ball and then having a mistake by a ref help them. This is why they will always be the mistake by the lake, And the way Detroit looks after this NFL season they could be the only franchise other than expansion Houston and Jacksonville not go to a Super Bowl. How embarrassing but that city shows in this video that they deserve to suffer.

  • @live2win100 @live2win100 Nice trolling job bud, fuck off. You are a completely worthless human being, a waste of perfectly good oxygen. Get off this thread.

  • @TheDjentleman1224 Did I hit a nerve little man? It's funny how you don't dispute the things that I said in my post. Face it this video is very telling about cleveland. Wanting something for nothing. And then for thousands of you to commit assault on camera only because the refs got the play right. What a pittyfull place you live. The good news is that you have that 50 year anniversary party coming up in 2014 to remember your last championship. LMAO !!

  • @live2win100 Blah blah, personal justification, compensation for your tiny little penis through the use of a professional sports team that you have no role in whatsoever. I don't care that the Browns aren't that great, I just care that you feel the need to be an dick for no reason. Come on man, I'm embarrassed that I even took the time to respond to this, and I sure as hell won't respond to the next inevitable comment that further trashes me and the city I love.

    P.S. you spelled pitiful wrong

  • @TheDjentleman1224 It's funny that your are from cleveland and you are concerned with the size of my dick. From what I have heard about cleveland this also makes sense. I stumbled upon a video, remembered the game and then saw all of the cleveland pussies whinning in the comment section. It was too good to pass up. You love that city? So I guess if you were born in a giant pile of "DOG" shit you would love dog shit? Woof! woof! go back to the pound.

  • Horseshit call...the Browns ran a play and since the ball was snapped before the refs blew their whistles, the shouldn't have been a review... circumstances are irrelevant, the rule is pretty clear (As Gus Johnson alluded to)

  • That's a classic example of the Bert Emanuel rule, we saw this in the Eagles-Falcons game last Sunday night when Asante Samuel controlled the ball on an interception even though it hit the ground. These refs were gambling at the Venetian before this game, or perhaps Caesar's Palace

  • this call was worst then the fumble or the drive

  • Loooove large-scale civil unrest!

  • Malfunction my ass…

  • "we just saw a guy get hit in the head, split his head wide open". i doubt that literally happened, with a guy having half his head on one side of the field and the other half on the other side.
