so i think i get it...

the first girl we see singing is telling the story of a summer when she was 17.

she loved this guy but he left her for an undisclosed reason

then we see him hit on her sister followed by the whole bowling scene.

& then that old guy, the one with the car, he like sexually forces the girl in the red dress, but she says no or something. that's when they all vandalize the old guys car.

& then in the end they are all just kinda making sense of it all.

I think,that old guy whose car they vandalised messed with her when she was 17 and naive,the guy she liked found out she was with another guy but doesn't know the whole story,went all weird on her,the one blonde girl,who she thought was her friend,flirted with him(hence the bowling alley scene) and she's saying if he knew the truth it might break his heart...at least thats my opinion on it,I guess everyone can see it how they like and put their own story to it :3

I think its that he tried to push her for sex and when she said no he broke up with her. And he is flirting with that blonde girl in the bowling ally to make her jealous. And I guess everyone in the town is talking about her because the guy is probably telling stories and starting rumors about her.
