  • im a big fan of you

  • If it bleeds, it leads baby

A simple anatomy of today’s media, a cruel reality that we are living in

People hear what they want them to hear.

People see that they want them to see.

People think what they want them to think.

A painful travel from needs,,,wants to demands.

    Ciao..

    fom Pakistan

  • the media certainly dosent choose to cover when white people are victims of hate crimes

  • you the shit girl

    from Quenbec(canada)

  • thats fucking bull shit. all te media is about bashing bush. if that really happend they would be all over that

  • bbc world service is as close to the truth as i know of,the rest are a form of brain washing.only what they want you to hear....

  • 1:48 A guy on the background says добрый день. That's funny.

  • I take that as a compliment.

  • good job

  • You lie .

There is no proof there was one hundred civilian deaths and how did you hear about this story in the first place if the media didn't report it.

More to the point how do you choose what stories to cover.

  • your the reason y this video was made...

  • Era Brother..... Do you know the meaning of era?

  • Equal Rights.Amendment .

  • Earned Run Average.

  • damn you the resident why must you hit the nail on the head so well

  • of course, the real question is what is the legitimacy about the report of 100 deaths. you really believe this,,,,,and choose to think this was truthful?? she is just more of bs.

  • EXACTLY we are in a matrix my friends... Everybody should know that..If you want to have an objective view of what is going on : don't watch or read the news.. Make your own

  • Ya because the right wing media just loves making the government look really good...in America the media NEVER criticizes the governement. (A cookie to whoever can note the sarcasm in my comment.)

  • Resident I think your video view numbers are being manipulated. I can't believe your recent vids only have, on average, between 2000-5000 views!

  • I so agree with you on many issues (allthow every issue needs some research, and on most issues not everybody does agree), in my opinion as a male i guess you are the first female with witch i believe i could stay and talk without any sexual interferences. I admire your work... (hope it's not a waste of your time)

  • you and othes here and there are qualified just as a terrorrist and prejudicious people as those one from the M. East region.

plus, you tell you are on the good side... but I tell you, in war there is no good nor correct side!

  • You're not human - naci pig

  • Come on, now. Everyone knows that Fox news is completely unbiased and never misses broadcasting important news.

    LOL

  • Both Fox News and Msnbc are awful.. Everyone should just see BBC!

  • If it bleeds it leads.

  • TV is giving people exactly what they want, entertainment. It's not a source for news anymore.

  • Unfortunately it has a lot to do with the power and manipulations of the political parties and the government of course. Independent media is the only way to find somewhat like a balance. But as 9-11 and the so called war against terrorism was used to have more political control over media (in the US as well as in Germany) we all have to care for this problem. It´s all about our civil rights! So thanx for your critical vid!

  • I totally agree with you. The reason that story wasn't covered is what's wrong with the capitalist modern world. People only care when their money depends on it.

  • exactly!

  • There should be a law against press fraud

  • I just want to know if yours are pink or brown.

  • The big corporations control the media. And that is sliding down the slippery slope to facism.

  • Most are paid and controlled by George Soros. It is sad but true.

  • Do you think the media would have reported on it if Bush was still president?

Btw, I found it interesting that one guy was really busting on the internet as a source of news when your show is on the internet. :)

  • But thankfully we now have the resident..on tv!

  • The media think it is more important that citizens are made aware of the opinions of a beauty pageant bimbo than what their elected officials are doing and what is happening in the real world that actually matters and affects you.

  • Man, that intro is pro. I like how you whip those microphones out like they're magic wands. That kicks ass.

  • Love your videos

  • A lot of people make money from Wars and Drugs. Always have but hopefully in the new awakened world that sorry kind of behavior will come to an end (just like slavery and serfdom did in the 1860's). We look at that time with horror, just as future generations will look at our current behavior as such. Also, remember what the Romans did for "entertainment"? That's our glorious legacy.

  • Media is controlled by jews and jews always lie!

  • ø„¸¸„ø¤º°¨¸„ø¤º°¨ post to 3 other vids

    ¨°º¤ø„¸ Copy „ø¤º°¨ press F5 twice

    ¸„ø¤º°¨Paste ``°º¤ø„¸ OK

    ¸„ø¤º°¨¸„ø¤º°¨¨°º look at ur backgroud

  • Nice sampling of people.

  • WAR IS WAR get over it!

  • well what can we do. if the media ends up controlling the internet, there really isnt. other than going to iraq ourselves.

  • It's not that they choose rather they are told what and how to do it...;-)

  • HERE IS HOW TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM:

Create a news channel for each topic, there will be one for weather, sports, entertainment, etc... oops those already exist; TWC, ESPN, E! Well then to make you happy we will make one for you favorite topic DEATH! Specifically those caused by Americans only! All it will cover is suicides, murders, homicide, rape resulting in death... actually that should get it's own channel. But you get the idea... have fun with that!!!

  • Unfortunately mass media provides bias, slanted, sensational information not because that is what they want us to hear but because that is what their viewers (us) continue to watch and read.

When we raise our viewing standards there will be plenty of organizations flocking to take our business by providing what we desire.

  • Seems we all are control by a powerful group of people with certain ideology..the news are biased, cameras and satelites watching ur each and every move... we are all like sheeps..being herded into the direction most desirable to those who control us...

  • I am visiting New York in September. Will you be interviewing on Times Square then ?? I want to give you my opinion on the issue of the day.

  • The resident maybe next time you'll pay attention to Dennis Kucinich as a viable candidate (I.E the true and only peace candidate)? I think Obama was sold to us no differently than Bush was sold to us. But I also believe vice president Joe Biden is responsible for his war decisions thus far. Joe Biden's just another war monger like bush. Just a more well organized one.

  • Noam Chomsky is the best person to ask that question. He has written a lot of books based on how media is driven. The media has to make money and they will show what ever maintains there base. Simple. ONLINE ALTERNATIVE NEWS MEDIA IS THE BEST!

  • The Media covers anything that won't make Americans look like assholes.

    It backfires.

  • It was censored because Obama did it.

If it were Bush it would be on the front page.

Funny. Russian TV reporting on American news censorship!

    Quo vadis?

  • jcr, shit man.. under Bush in Iraq there were 20 , 50 , 100 civilians dying everyday. Bush desensitized us to it so its not worth reporting.

  • Which was it 20, 50 or 100? And where do you get your facts?

The fact that you make it a "contest" shows this bias. There is a double standard here.

Civilian casualties happen in every war. It doesn't matter if it is Obama or Bush. The media needs to report it.

But you are right. Obama supporters are desensitized. Those who were screaming at Bush to stop the war don't care what Obama does they are so in love with him.

  • Comment removed

  • Cheers!

  • What about the skewed numbers of how many Iraqi civilians have died since the U.S occupation? It's a lot more than the U.S statistical report showed.

  • You know what is really ****ed up about this. NPR and PBS gave this story more coverage then the MSM media. Both NPR and PBS are funded by the same government that killed these people. It's the "independent" commercial media, that ignored the story.

Proof this story is about the money and not "censorship"

  • Who owns that "independent" commercial media that ignored the story?

  • General Electric

    Turner Broadcasting

    Fox Entertainment Group

    Walt Disney Company

    Viacom

three TV entertainment groups, an electric company, and a child's entertainment company.

Nope, I see no sinister reason to not report this story other then ratings, and ad revenue.

    What's your point?

  • Isn't GE a major defense contractor? Isn't that right there a conflict of interest when reporting on war?

What's your point - why are you so quick to dismiss other motive in the media? GE makes more money on war than it does on media - ever heard of a loss leader?

  • GE's cable company, MSNBC was (and to some extent is) the most vocal critic of the war in Iraq.

  • No, MSNBC was a critic of Bush, not the war.

Now that Obama is continuing war in Iraq, Afghanistan, and now expanding the war to Pakistan, I don't hear MSNBC criticizing Obama too much.

  • Most people should just use their own brains and come to their own conclusions instead of relying on whatever media resource they depend on. If they happen to believe something that is false then that is their own fault and will usually get correct by running into other people's opinions.

  • Res, your end conclusion is so true, well said! Unfortunately, most internet junkies pick & choose sites/blogs/news sources that agree with their own views, ones that espouse a narrow set of views, intead of what you suggest. Most ppl are just lazy, and look for stuff they want to hear, or just take the crap they get from msnbc, cbs or cnn as actual "news".

  • it's all a horrid mess.

  • "Over a hundred civillians dead......."

    Claimed by whom ?

    The Afgahn government.

    Yeah.....right....governments don't spread false information.

    Never

    lol

  • you're an idiot the undited states lied about so many things ... iraq perhaps?

  • was this incident what Hillary Clinton was apologizing for a few days ago?

  • The media is biased , including "The Resident". The 100 civilians were being used as human shields by the taliban. You conveniently left that part out. The media uses stories that sell, including "The Resident", who's story was biased and incomplete.

  • exactly what OriMeissa sayed, the news here in the usa is all biased, and if its not, chances are those news are not as commercial or public, and btw i didnt know you were in 42nd yesterday, i was about to go there after school, i would have gotten to talk to you :)

  • Res... the FUNGUY echoed my sentiments exactly..... this clip is you at your best... thanks

  • media motivations in line with political rhetoric. Journalists tow the line with the politics/ monopolies that pay their self interest, The system is an ever growing complex machine. cold war, in the west we were turned on to the horrors of the enemy, governments funded by the USSR, turning public opinion into hysteria. The governments that the west funded (IRAQ) media turned a blind eye. it was in the west interest to mute a public view. oh the irony

  • And that's why we watch you, Lori :) The US media won't put you on air but Russia Today will?? That speaks volumes about the "free" media in America!

  • nice - the only show I check on a regular bases is the resident :)

  • cool intro.

  • I'm watching this to make sure the things I hear are true =]

but yea,so true about what the media does now adays cause they only show you the things they want you to see and believe.

for example they'd show you the worst in some people but not the best thing about them.

    Anyway,you're amazing as always =]

  • ur awesome :)

  • Thanks!

  • ur welcome :D

  • Completely agree with the conclusion and especially, looking at news from other countries allows exposure to different point of views, different clips and stories, different analysis. The good news: there are plenty of reputable foreign channels even on YouTube. The bad news: it takes more time and more efforts hence, a small section of the population does that.

Great topic and nice work as usual.

  • Great work....again txs. ;-D

  • the american media defintly does a lot of promlems but RT isn't any better

  • i was justt about to say, why don't you have your own cable network backing you by now with your own show/segment... haha and now it's this Russia Today thing --- great work ... you're absolutely amazing!

  • Thanks so much! :)

  • Not to be a jerk but I do wonder if Russia today would report on Russia's screwups. Just saying.

  • Brava :) keep the REAL NEWS up hun :)

  • The media wants what YOU want. They don't generally create news, they serve the news that people want to see.

Because that is where the money is of course, and it is also a more easy way to remain neutral.

  • Well said PayReporter.

  • I am familiar with it because of the subject I work with: psychiatry.

I spoke to big media leaders about it and they learned me why they couldn't just report about what was going on in psychiatry, mainly because it was not in the interest of their readers.

After all, the newspaper is there for the readers. It will report however they want. If they want to know about awful things going on in Afghanistan, they would report about it. If not, maybe rather not.

  • If Bush was still in the White House the media would run that story 24/7!!

  • well it WAS HIS FAULT....

  • Afghanistan was the fault of the Taliban not Bush! However the Media has brainwashed you and I will not waste my time trying 2 educate you...

  • ditto......actually.....

  • I do not know if Brits would agree but as a Canadian I find BBC World News and AlJazeera to be great sources for international news and for the least bias perspective.

  • Wow! Great topic choice! It is incredible how the US media reports on the deaths of its troops but had failed miserably to report on the civilians deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan.

  • Great conclusion to the video. I thought your last statement was a good one to follow for everyone.

  • I definitely try to do that, but who has the right answers when it comes life threating news? That's what concerns me the most about the media.

  • all that comes to my mind is the Vietnam War...

  • swine flu is a great example.

  • I read the news today. Oh boy!

  • Hello,Lori.

Notice this double edged sword. As the internet replaces print papers, and soon network TV, there won't be alternate sources of news gathered by professionals. Citizens of a country can report on a story from their point of view, but there will be a lack of alternate views. So long as the net is not regulated, independent news will be more free than corporate sponsored news.

  • "AlJazeeraEnglish" is a great channel in Youtube for news.

  • you look different, Miss. Resident

  • Good job! This is a big reason we need to keep the internet unregulated. When we look for the truth we soon discover it has certain characteristics, It is invinciable and often irreversable. Truth withstands the test of time. If fear is used to motivate the reader then the news becomes suspect. Demand the truth. Peace makes all things possible. That is truth!

  • The Newshour with Jim Lehrer reported the airstrikes. This is not the first or last time civilans have been killed in war. Enough said, did Miss California get to keep her crown ?

  • WOW it was censored on USA?

wow! America definely isn't a free land.

  • Not anymore.

  • it wasn't censored, just nobody wanted to talk about it. Don't listen to RT like it's the truth, they think that the United states in going to split up in 6 parts.

  • Another great video.

Did you see my new video? I mentioned you

  • I dunno I heard about that tragedy. Hilary Clinton spoke about it even. wonderful video though as always and thought provoking

  • But a very good question REZ!!!

  • Even in democracies today, crucial information is available to only a few individuals who control the flow of information to the rest of the government and consequently control decisions. For example, the Cuban missile crisis in 1962 determined whether nuclear war would engulf billions of people.Today look back on the methods used to gather information from so called terrorists. Central governments have always controlled the flow of information to the public.

  • good on Ya girl!! :)

  • OBAMA FOR THE WIN!

(It's sarcasm, for the stupid fucks)

  • It's great to seek out the whole story from all sides. Even better if you understand that only a true democracy, with national initiatives, will get you out from under the mess of a Republic (trusting only politicians to make all important desions for you, including what MSM chooses to tell you) vote. org Stop playing games :)

  • i bet you she sucks a good dick

  • Probably not as good as your mum

  • media is an important tool for any government

    CASE CLOSED

  • That was in the NY Times. I remember reading about it

  • Well I agree with you that you should get your info from all angles by getting different sources, but I know I am always biased to believe what that first thing I read said.

BTW: Didn't you get your information about the air strikes from some form of media?

  • i knew about this and it appears that most commenters did. these are people whose information gathering might be more aggressive, judging from the timely comments. it was covered enough to be on google news. i doubt many serious people limit themselves in their news sources. the net has opened and closed various sources, but i agree, the news one gets reflects more on the person than the source. excellent "obituary" of the print media on narcosphere blog today.

  • "History is the collection of lies agreed upon" - Napoleon

  • For example: h1n1 flu. It was a big deal when there were 100 cases in the USA.

Now it's at 3000 and growing, and it's last week's news.

  • paris hilton farted ,..thats news

  • Journalism is the act

    claim the fourth estate.

    Thank you for the video

    -TZO

  • I heard about it. It was on Al Jazeera and CNN. Of course they are also " the media" . I figured, there is some truth in any story.

    - U.S. bombed a target, yeah

    - Civilians were killed, yeah

    - 100 civilians ??? doubtful

    - Taliban fighters and their families, maybe

    - Wayward missile, possible but 1 lost missile killing 100 civilians, very unlikely

  • Why is that so unlikely? Didnt you see how Obama responded to the question about PRE KNOWLEDGE of civilian deaths inorder to kill "terrorists" during the campaign? He said he wouldnt hesitate even if it meant GUARUNTEED civilian deaths. How many Americans batted an eye? So why the fuck WOULDNT the US conduct an air raid that would kill that many civilians. Who the would/could do anything about if they did? . "Doubtful"? seriously what planet do you live on. Pretty naive stuff mr pilot.

  • Oh and btw since when did a child of a Taliban become acceptable cannon fodder.

  • since World War 1.

war is hell, and innocent people get killed, but to put this on the United States like civilian killings are a new phenom is just wrong.

  • Weve all heard the platitude...yeah war is hell ... except if your a nice and comfortable sitting at your computer sipping coffee and typing about how hellish it is.

No one is putting this on the united states as if killing civilians is a new phenomenon. Dont know where I said that. I find it very revealing though that there are always people like ricky the pilot that knee jerk to assume that somehow reports of civilians bieng killed is just "taliban and their families".

  • Btw hell on earth is why war is to be avoided at all costs. Basically it should be reserved for times when its starkly obvious you can save more lives by doing it(ww2) . Theres nothing about the Osama that couldnt have been averted by something as simple as better airport security for god sakes(BOXCUTTERS??)

Afghanistan was about retribution and we all know this. Most Americans just wanted blood after 911.

  • Osama should have been held accountable. Just like all criminals. Unfortunately that is clearly not the governments plan. (And I doubt that it ever was their plan)

  • I 100% agree he should have been held accountable. And I also agree it wasnt their plan to get Osama. If it was they wouldnt have gone in like a bull in a china shop killing all those innocent people. He should have been tirelessly hunted like a dog not a nuclear war head that was about to destroy America at any minute. What a retarded overreaction.

  • The loudest screaming left wing minority gets all the coverage.

  • Serious news programmes in the UK covered the US airstrike in Afghanistan and I suspect that serious news sources in the US will also have reported it, but the media report what is most relevant to their consumers and what can be reported in the limited space/time available so I suspect that one reason why many of those interviewed knew nothing about the airstrike was that they were not consumers of the serious news sources.

  • It sounds like the Italian media...

  • The hopelessness comes from the fact that virtually everyone knows they're being told what someone else wants them to think, yet they're still at the mercy of the that screen, and willingly.

Now if you will excuse me, I have to catch up on my Pruane2Forever subscriptions.

    - trevor.

  • Choose your information-media by their target audience, M(r)s. Resident. That's why your President reads the investigation-reports and Beavis reads Mad. :) Good job since for a while. Greetings from Germany.

  • sounds like they just look on the internet the news channels they would watch on TV.

Of course if they don't bring such an article on the net if the broadcasters don't show it on TV.

I saw the report on the attack and I read it on the net. The people just have to know where to look.

  • yer... Russia Today is the place to go for unbiased reporting...

  • Russia Today - not unbiased, merely another perspective. Nowadays we can't rely on any one news source to inform us - the MSM is US corporate owned, so it puts out news that favors Wall Street. Al Jazeera is Arab, so it speaks from that perspective. And AJ did cover the air strike, as did Real News.

Pick and choose, and weigh the stories in the context of their sources. Otherwise you'll just be another sheep.

  • Exactly. To know what US is doing wrong go to their biggest rival. To know what Russia is doing wrong watch US MSM. Its actually pretty fool proof.

  • The media won't report what makes America look bad.

  • I don't know whether this video specially picked a few "smart" individuals or whether this is how the majority think in this Country,

If it's the latter, then solve it ---- for starters. TURN OFF YOUR TV!
