Yeah the Jets invented the "White out"...other teams have now "borrowed" that tradition for the post season. Flames with the "Sea (or "C") of Red", the Penguins wear all white. Flyers go all orange.

Flames vs Canucks was a great series but vancouver size advantage eventually took over and destroyed the flames

Did the Flames, Oilers, and Canucks have as big of a rivalry with the Jets when they were in the league....I know Winnipeg is more to the middle of the continent .... but they were still grouped with the "Western" teams

It was born in 1987, during Winnipeg's first round series with Calgary. BTW, Winnipeg won that series and I think that's the last playoff series they've ever won.

dont really mean anything in paticular, but it seems those three canadian teams in the north western area of the league (vancouver, calgary, and edmonton) really seem to have rivalries. not so sure about the edmonton calgary rivalry from the 80's, vancouver and calgary i know go at it, and i dont know if edmonton and vancouver have somethin between them.

I always like watching those three play. I have a particular spot in my heart for the two Alberta teams in particular as each has knocked Detroit out of the playoffs in this decade.

That was one of the greatest playoff series of all time, just awesome stuff, regardless of result.

If Calgary beat Vancouver in 82 they'd have played the NYI.

If Vancouver beat Calgary in 89 they'd have played the Canadians.

If Calgary beat Vancouver in 94 they'd have played the NYR.

If Vancouver beat Calgary in 04 they'd have played the Lightning.

Its amazing that every time these two teams meet in the first round its the best series in all of the playoffs and the winner goes to the finals. Best rivalry in hockey.
