  • My old green iguana couldn't see you eating a banana, she would jump on you trying to get it

  • Using a knife to peel a banana eh? Sophisticated :)

  • I would so love a Tegu, but apparently before I was born *I'm 13* my mum and dad had had one, and they couldn't touch him because he was so aggressive, any way you can help with taming one? = /

  • so im guessing tegu isn't a good pet to have in chicago if it needs heat because when winter hits it hits hard in chicago and there is'nt a lot of hot places in my home

  • is veryyyyy beatifulllllllllllllllllllll

  • what about peru? do they like banana?

  • ..... i didnt get the point of that whole thing -_- waste of 3 min

  • @halo3trapmaster lol hater ;]

  • whats up with the tail

  • @dinomanj She uses it to find the sun, the higher you are the less wall shadows you get and she realized about it! =)

  • @gebris353 That's just awesome. I've had lizards do some cleaver stuff too, like teaming up to push the terrarium cover off

  • What is this song! lol. Juancho's awesome.

  • @jonspartan117 I really didn't know until you asked haha! I originally used "Calipso Bananero" by Harry Bellafonte but thanks to copyright had to change it and used one from Youtube related to bananas, seems to be "Bananas" by Brian Folkins-Amador, Greñudo Music (BMI)

  • @gebris353 does peru like bananas?

  • damn thats one long tounge

  • im in love with your tegu :O

  • omg this is so coool, wish i had 1 :(

  • what did you typically feed him in one sitting? and did you feed him everyday or everyother day?

  • A dish of banana like the one on this vid or a meal like in the other vid with eggs & snails, typically everyother day but she may eat any other fruit whenever she likes. She likes roaming a lot so if she wants to eat she does, if not, next day will.

  • ok thanks you! what about when he has still a juvenille/hatchling?

  • Same routine but with one or two quail eggs instead, few snails, few pieces of banana. =)

  • oh ok so you never fed him insects?

  • Now that you ask it yes, I used to feed her beetles and crickets but not much cause it dried her. =)

  • ok thats a lot! so like only once a week with insects?

  • Just when she found them in the garden, but when I realized I just stopped. You should try cockroaches, since in the States they are easy to get from petshops and they seem to do great, but there are not much down here in Argentina. =)

  • did you have him since he was a hatchling/juvenille?

  • I have him since he was about 2 months old. =)

  • my tegu doesnt eat very well... i might have to turn him in but i doubt it cuz ive gotten him to eat egg now.. did he just start eating fruit naturally or u have to train him to eat it?.. all mine does is lik up juice and i might try mango or papaya for him

  • It's not very usual for them to eat fruits, the secret is that the have tp be juicy and sweet, they do the rest and with time they get used to eat them without the pre licking. =)

  • oh ok =/

  • i plan on getting a tegu is the b/w im guessing? how long did it take to tame got any tips?

  • She is a red one, not the bright one but the brown one, the camera didnt get her true colors tho. Alive rodent make them more aggressive in most of the cases and try not handling him untill he gets used to your presence. =)

  • wow. a video where we actually see an omnivorous animal eating vegetaion. such a welcome change from watching sadistic videos of rats getting their heads ripped of. shines a new, refreshing light on owning a tegu. cool vid.

  • Thanks! Glad you like it. =)

  • Now that's more my methodt on feeding.

The guy is always enjoyable to see.

    Take care. HJ

  • I wish Tegus were sole herbivores so I could have one. Juancho has made me think much better of Tegus though.

It's also nice to see owners posting the lighter side of these creatures instead of the horrible "tear a rat apart" videos.

    Thanks gerbris353 for sharing.

  • Thank you for watching! I'm one of those who think the same way you do about videos with rodents. =)

  • Haha, he looks so happy at the end basking in the sun! I've decided on getting a black and white Tegu when I've got my own place because of Juancho. Wonderful lizard.

  • Hey that's great, thank you a lot for the kind words, wish you a lot of great moments with him! =D

  • lovely tegu!!! How did u get him to do the "scorpion tail"

  • ARgentina like it!

  • i love how when she gets to the sun she just chills right there :)

  • Yeah! It's always funny to see! =D

  • lol i got that same knife for my snapping turtle and when i had my snake what kind of tegu?

  • Seems those knives are everywhere! Mine is an Argentinian Red Tegu btw. =)

  • i want one badly done research and all i found one for $55 its not a arg its the other black and white the bad adittude ones but thing is its 10 hours away or $105 for it to be shipped

  • Yeah you mean a Columbian, well I dont know them but didnt have good comments about them, I'd go for the Argie unless you can SEE the other one is not agressive.

  • not so bad for a big and beautifull animal i have to pay 350$ for my bluetongue skink :)

  • puede juancho dar autografo jejeje

    mandame uno es gracioso...

  • How hot does it get out there in Argentina?

  • Between 80ºF and 100ºF in summer. =)

  • The reason I ask is because I live in Southern California. In the lower desert. In the summer time it can go above 110 sometimes. In the winter it gets in the 70s and starts warming up into the 80 in late springs. I heard I could house a tegu outside because we have warmer weather. Is there any truth to that?

  • Yeah, temps seem right but on ouside enclosures you always have to give them some shade. The only think I can think of now is the low humidity of the desert, since tegus here in the wild live in zones with pretty high humidity, so you would have to build him a mini lake or something. =)

  • Yeah he,"I'm gonna get a male" will be able to free roam a lot so I'm not worry about shade. Humidity is a problem sense I live in the dry desert, but in the summer it tends to get humid but not enough for him. Did you mean like build a mini lake in his enclosure? I read you can just make a big hind box for humidity? I was gonna give him two, one for humidity and another just for a hide. I planning on make a pretty big enclosure.

    8ft long, 5ft wide, 4ft tall.

  • That's great! He should be ok with those hinds, mine was just an idea but seems you have everything planned and that's great cause many ppl just buy them and then say ok so what now? Good luck with the building! =)

  • Thanks but I would like to hear your idea for a mini lake?

  • Well it depends on the space and materials you can get, the best would be a kind of plate with the material used in swimming pools so you can clean it easily, not deep but enough for him to get cooler. =)

  • Sounds pretty cool, thanks for the idea, I'll keep that in mind when the time comes around, thanks again!

  • Omg your tegu is so cute

i am going to get a tegu and i just wondering some things.

How did you get that wonderful bond with your tegu?

    lots of handling,love?

  • Thanks! And great you are getting one! You are right, lots of love is the key or it is at least for me, I just rised her as a puppy! =)

  • hah I will :)

  • oh really... Thanks for telling me I wouldent want to think my tegu is dead its just sleeping for 5 months =)

  • Haha, no problem, try reading some info in the net about them and hibernation stuff so you know all the detaills and doesnt surprise ya. =)

  • what happens when the go into habernating!!!!!

  • Actually nothing at all lol, she just sleeps for about 5 months, sometimes she wakes up for a bit and drinks some water but nothing else. =)

  • love your tegu man. And the scorpian tale lol.

beutiful lizard and she looks very helathy!

  • Thanks and glad you like her, she is hibernating right now. =(

  • the fork and scorpion tail was adorable! did you Jauncho was girl or guy? nevertheless, he is beautiful and fun to watch! cool vid

  • Thanks! I was told it was a boy, but many years ago I had doubts cause of its size so I checked under her tail and discovered it was a girl actually. It was already named Juancho so she will keep that name. =)

  • is it true that you should only feed a tegu a banana like once a week? Why is that?

  • Actually I've never heard that, but it's what I do since I feed him a varied diet: different fruits, eggs and meat, so he wouldnt eat more than once per week. =)

  • I am glad you made soo many videos:^D

I was wondering dose he always perform the scorpion tail??

and L8er he went "to strech" hahaha

you know, your right...after that bath you do want to bear-hug the love into him!

    Haha I love Juancho-like I love Iggy 1/1,000

your vids show a lot of love:^)

  • Thanks man, and yes, she always does it, kinda radar for the sun I guess. Your Iggy rocks too! I love animals! =D

  • chillest lizard ever

  • Rofl, thanks I guess! xD

  • with a fork @.@ well your a good owner i wont question ya methods

  • Pay attention on how she takes the banana from it, she learnt it very well before trying with a fork. =)

  • I love these videos. Take some more! Awesome soundtrack!!! Keep em comin!

  • Thanks! I've uploaded two more! =D

  • Haha juancho rules! ;D Love him!

  • I GOT MY TEGU THIS MORNING! but its a columbian, my mom wouldnt let me get an argentine bcuz of the size.

  • Congrats! That's great! Good luck with you little buddie! :D

  • Thanks! :)

  • Thats kinda funny... The reason I got an Argentine is because its less carnivorous (my mom doesn't like having to get crickets and a freezer of dead mice lol).

  • Thanks! If you want you can come to Argentina to meet him hehe. I love beardies and their color too, but I just wont have the time to take care of another pet and Juancho would be jelous.

  • Excellent..Then he times out to warm up under the sun..lol.

  • Falta no mas una bandera al mero punto.

    (con calavera, como pirata!)

Juancho is the champion of the Friendliest Monitor Vid Contest too- he's the coolest lizard on the planet!

  • Thanks man! I've been thinking of making a vid of him like Godzilla with little plastic soldiers! xD

  • WoW!

Another great vid! So he uses the tail to feel for the sun? This is a completely new thing to me- very interesting.

Juancho just has the moves. You can always tell he's got lots of experience behind his tiniest decision, too. Very smart fellow.

    (Hi to Mom, too!)

Looks like Juancho wins the Friendliest Monitor Video Contest, too!

(I think he set the standards too high for most people to have any hope.)

  • Thanks! I think it could be to keep his balance too but I see him doing it only while looking for the sun, that's why I called it "radar" :P Love the part when he DOES look to the sky for the sun twice. Juancho is the champ! :D

  • now that is what I call sunbathing :)

  • Yeah, you can actually see how he stretches on the floor after finding the sun. =)

  • Hehe! Creo does that in his own little way, so does Moiya. They all got their little ways of sunbathing...aaah I wish it was sunny and warm here right now! Such a happy tegu you got there. :)

  • Thank you! Hope you winter ends soon there! =)
