Im curious to know if its so customizable, if you can actually flip the motherboard tray to the oppositie side (reverse from stock, which would probably mean an upside-down mo-bo). Im looking to switch the position of my PC to my left side (to sit against my desk wall) where its much more easy for me to access drives and such
@djfeas001 Short answer is no, the Antec LanBoy cannot be modded like that. I have it, checked it out and yeah you are surprisingly limited. I suppose if you are willing to completely disassemble it's frame then maybe, but those rails for the motherboard tray 'latch' onto only two frame bars in two different placements putting the PSU up or down. I'm likely to go back to my Antec Skeleton chassis.
I like the removable motherboard tray. I like the handles. I LOVE the side facing optical drive options. I don't like the "bouncy" hard drive bays and I don't see any way to install larger fans rather than the many smaller ones. For an aesthetic point of view, I like the ugly, rugged, modular look, but it does look a little umm... childish and plastic in blue, if that makes any sense. I could easily see a spoiled rich kid sporting this case around at his lan party.
@FreeFireGaming its auctally not ugly, its really nice. Also if you are worried about dust you can stop it. Antec recommends you put 15, 120mm fans set on intake into the case, this will make postive air preasure in the case causing the air to push out of the mesh, not letting dust to get in.
@wtchluring do you mean that you will have dust filter infront of your intake fans ? because if you don´t it will still get in dust through the intake fans! also some dust will be pushed out with positive air flow but much of the dust will be stuck in hardware for example the graphic card and your heat sink to your cpu cooler.. :P
@wtchluring : But then you have to buy 11 fans that don't come with the case, and sit next to that thing when it fires up like a 737. There's no sound dampening for the fans, as the entire case is mesh, and the necessary hardware for all of that wind will add up. That's also going to require a lot of little wires running around your case, looking for places to plug in. Do you have that many 4-pin connectors with your power supply?
It's a great idea, but not practical when used as intended.
@whutbrush Since you have such great air flow you can have all the fans running on low (800rpm), this means that you will barely be able to here it, even sitting right next to it. I don't know if you have ever looked at a molex fan plug but they can plug into each other like a chain, so you can plug about 3 fans into 1 molex connector, and the last time I checked most good power supply's have at least 8 molex plugs which will be more than enough. Its not the best case but it is better than most.
Pros: lightweight, great air flow, removable motherboard tray, customizable ( like Lego technics ) XD
Cons: Easy to take in dust more than air, ugly, power consuming of 15 fans (redundant & overrated), not suitable for cold room or are your room that hot that you need 15 fans to cools every components?
Two handles instead of one in center: FAIL. 7 screws to remove right side panel(s) instead of one: FAIL. Parts tray way too small: FAIL. Cage for powersupply but only one size: FAIL. I'd buy it if the price were right (which at $170 it is not) but I'd get rid of all that mesh crap getting in the way of access to everything and just have the open frame, which is what I do with standard midtower cases anyway. Buy a $9 midtower at Salvation army, lose the crap side panels, and you're there
I thought a long time ago about the design of a open air case, but not without filters, they could have easily added some of those micro perforated filters like NZXT uses.
Doesn't matter if you have this case with only stock fans or maxed with 15, without filters, there will be a shitload of dust to clean. Unless you live in a positive pressure house with no pets, have fun cleaning this thing.
Newegg has the Antec Lanboy Air Modular ATX Mid Tower Computer Case for $159.99 after Coupon Code: HARDOCP11X3A (Exp 11/10). $4.99 Shipping Tax in CA, NJ, TN.
sorry bro,
it's expired yesterday...u can try!
They already shipped mine and UPS will deliver tomorrow.
My conscience tells me that a hard drive should be secured and not be be able to move around. If they supplied sturdy rails and not bungee style rails I would be sold on it (minus the price). And I can't get over the lack of dust filters. No matter what they say about dust, dust will still cling to boards. However I do like it (and I'm not an Antec person, thanks to my brother always using them) and I'm sure others will follow with this type of design.

@MrPowertotheladys if you have all 15 fans on intake with dust filters it will get less dust in it than a normal case.
