I was reading an original copy of "The Spare Half Hour" by C.H. Spurgeon from the late 1800's and felt compelled to give a search on youtube. He has a quite lengthy illustration on the effects of "the world" hardening peoples hearts and spirits like the Dripping Well at Knaresborough. I see mostly teddy bears hanging there, but he describes hats, shoes, birds, bird nests, a raven, a hare...I guess animals didn't have too many rights back then.
I visited Knaresborough a few days ago (for work purposes) and I stayed in The Dowerhouse Hotel, just up the road from O.M.S.Cave. I wish i had more time to sight-see because it looks lovely.
I would strongly recommend going to yorkshire. It is a beautiful place and the people are friendly and helpful. x
Yeah, she was born in a cave when her mother was cast out of the community for refusing to reveal who the father of her child was... check out the story, it's fascinating. You can actually go check out the cave. It's an incredible place to visit.
I moved from Knaresborough to America 5 1/2 years ago and I miss it SO much!!! Iv only been back once, and even that was only for a couple days, I didn't get to walk around town much or go down by the river which is my favorite bit of it!!! grrr
i live in harrogate and my view is harrogate/knaresborough are very nice places. full of children in hooded tops and full of boy racers (where isnt?). both towns are very nice places and in comparison to manchester, leeds, london etc they are very peacefull places. Harrogate is famous for Bettys, Vally Gardens and old buildings. Knaresborough is famous for Shiptons Cave, Buildings and the river. they arnt full of entertainment arcades (but it aint blackpool). Very nice place to live and visit
I totally disagree, I found it magical and peaceful and it gave me hope when my dad was dying from cancer. I put my hand in the wishing well and wished him well. My wish didn't come true in this life but one day we'll meet again and all will be well.
