@laffer35 Just downloaded it today. Yes, the music is a lot more impressive in the cuts. One little thing I noticed though - strangely, in the Venice cafe scene, the cool little PC jingle from the VGA is missing in the FM-Towns. It's just silent. Odd!
Is there any major difference between this and the VGA PC version? They look exactly the same to me. I have EGA and VGA versions of it and this looks like the VGA.
@laffer35 I'm so jealous. I bought a copy off of steam and it is midi only. Even though the midi in this game is quite good the CD version is superior.
That is strange. I did not know the SCUMM engine used by Lucasfilm can be used on a Japanese computer. I thought they could only be used on Macintosh, DOS, or Windows PC's.
Well they could do it...these games were also released on atari, amiga and (early lucas arts games) on C64...Even on the NES was a port of Maniac Mansion
I got a copy of this and LOVE it. The only thing I don't like about it is that they took the music out of the Venice scene. I always thought that was the best music in the entire game.
Thanks laffer, I remember playing this one as a child, pre-internet and everything, had to find old computer magazines or call my friends older brother when I was stuck ... Good times :D
very difficult game, especially for a kid who didnt have english as first language.
not gonna lie , tried it on scummvm years later and had to use a guide now and then :p

Yes, the music - the PC version uses MIDI while this uses CD audio.

Back then i bought it for PC. In the retail box you even got a printed booklet of Henry Jones diary. Awesome :-)

Its a shame that the rumblings of the train at the beginning ruined the Main theme.

Shame this game didn't have speech but it is probably the best version with the PC a close second.

Were the FM-Towns games normaly in Japanese or English?
rodzandz 2 years ago 3
Normally in Japanese. The games were only released in Japan, so :)
But a few have both Japanese and English, like these Lucasarts ones.

where did you get this?

eBay. The FM Towns Lucasarts games are on there from time to time.. very rarely though and prepare to pay hundreds of dollars for each of them.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
You pay hundreds of dollars for a game, which you could download in ten seconds?
OneOldNovelist 3 years ago
Yes. It would take at least a few minutes to download some of these, though, as they use CD audio and thus take up a few hundred megs.
But I collect Lucasarts adventure games and so a pirated version won't do.
