Thanh Lan is truly a great artist, not just a mere singer. Notice all improvises that she always artfully brought into any of her songs and these enhance the song so well... This one is one among them... Bravo the talented Thanh Lan.
Both TL and BY sing this song to perfection, and each has her own unique brilliance. TL here is still at her best in stage presence, vocal, and improvisation; and BY's subtle but passionate and soulful version is truly exceptional.
It's also a nice touch to sing this song in French as originally composed by Lam Phuong. I'm disappointed by singers nowadays who can't even enunciate Vietnamese correctly (try "mộng ảo"...), let alone French.
i prefer Tran Thu Ha singing this song in vietnamese particularly than Bach Yên and Thanh Lan, but i dont mean dislike BY + TL. Anyone agrees with me ?
I saw TL performed at Ham Gio ca fe in Saigon about 35 years ago. At that time, (the late)TTT played guitar for her. Memories. She still sing very well.
such injustice to this song. the last notes were embarassing. nobody should mess with bach yen's songs. miss thanh lan, stick w/ bang bang or la plus belle pour aller danser. you were so cute then!
Thanh Lan's version of this song is way better than Bach Yen and Tran Ngoc Ha (Thuy Nga). Up until now, no Vietnamese singers sing this song better than Thanh Lan.
all a matter of opinion or personal taste--- however, the version recorded by Bach Yen that I'm referring was not the duet but the original solo recording that was on her album, "Souvenir". Here she sang the entire song only in French w/superb arrangements. After that she began to sing the Viet lyrics at her shows. as the song got big, she decided to re-record it in Viet. But this duet w/TrThH didn't measure up to her solo. if u just based it only on this track, then I agree Thanh Lan is better
Bach Yen toured, lived, and breathed french. She also knows different dialects of the french languages. Also performed this song on Ed Sullivan show. There is no comparison.
Hi, actually ,I 'm living in France , and I like Thanh Lan version because it 's more modern , and her french is perfect ...but , each person has his own preference, right? or in french " tous les goûts sont dans la nature "
i don't think ngoc lan ever recorded this song. this song was written and composed by lam phuong and originally recorded by Bach Yen in 1996. by that time, ngoc lan was already ill and wasn't recording anything. but if for some miraculous reason, you have this recording of c'est toi by ngoc lan, show me where i can get it. i'm curious to hear how her version sounds like.
Lassley , Ngoc Lan did recorded this song in her video tape produced by May Production ,or you can check on youtube ,title "Cho em quen tuoi ngoc " post by dahuong , length 4:03 minutes.
Thanh Lan lúc nào cũng rất hay, nhưng bài này không ai hát tuyệt vời hơn Ngọc Lan được. Lời Pháp do chính nhạc sĩ Lam Phương viết.

Neither Bach Yen nor Thanh Lan can hold the candle to Ngoc Lan, who performed this song at the peak of her illness...

Simply exquisite! take my breath away.
Love the way she professionaly and artistically switches the Vietnamese lyric to French, and ends the song.
I dont think any one can have such great creativity like her.

Thanh Lan is the best. No other singers can compare to her with this song. There is not now nor will there ever be another like Thanh Lan.

As far as Vietnamese singers go, not many can sing French as well as Thanh Lan. Co ay hat tieng Phap rat hay and her pronunciation is quite good.
