We sing this off and on, but sing it quick and with a lot of clapping. Neat how different congregations can sing the same song differently, and still love it.
YES!!! Now this is the church I grew up on!!! Every first Sunday this was the jam and anytime the Bishop came to our church. Oh I can see my Granny in the choir stand rocking and singing this now...This has brought back so many memories for me!!! I am only 23 but I am so ole skool. I really needed this...
Ms. Ivey @ kneil34 I will pass your request on to my brother in law who is the minister of music at NJBC. I lost my cd with Rev. 19 on this past August when my Dad passed away unexpectedly. I'll send your request to him and hopefully he'll be able to assist you.
I'm sure if my grandmother was alive it would thrill her sanctified soul to know that so many have been blessed by this song which God gave to her to bring her comfort. She wrote many more. Rev. 19 is an awesome number that the NJBC choir sung. I have it on CD. I don't know who chosendisciple is; but, you're right my Bigma was COGIC but she wanted her songs to touch the world. Be blessed
@MsIvey1 I've been looking for someone to that has Rev. 19 by NJBC. Can you post it ? Please ? Or if you have done so on a P2p site (limewire, bearshare, etc.), which one ?
OMG!.....This album was my Sunday morning inspiration when I lived in Germany in the 1980's and didn't have a real church to attend. I used to crank up that Sansui sound system and rattle them windows all cross Bavaria. Lookin' thru old file cabinet found the double album set in mint condition. Rev. Tom Brown was pastor of Union Bethel AME, New Orleans and he'd strut across that altar singing this and tear it up. real church music. Thanks Emanuel.
This version was written by my grandmother, Mother Llliian Bouknight in 1973-74 when the Lord revealed to her my Mom was dying from breast cancer. My brother in law, Elder Jeff LaValley asked her if he could share this song w/the world as he felt it would help countless thousands and it has and is doing just that. All glory belongs to God
rowoches you did it again, you know everybody remember this one, look at all the viewers you had for this one they know this one was a home recker!!!!
Thank you so much for posting this song. I remember singing this when I was a child on the youth choir. I had been looking for this song for years. It seemed like each time that I did a search for it it would give me James Cleveland's version. Cleveland's version is nice but this one gets me choked up. Be Blessed!
Bless your heart Rowoches for posting this one! I have been seeking this song for years! Our Senior and Young Adult Choir at Beulah Baptist Church in DC would sing this and tear the house UP!!!! When Pete and my twin brother Paul would play this...it set the tone for our pastor, Rev. Moses L. Jackson, Jr to preach the bricks off the wall!
WOW!!!! I have been looking for this song for like the last year or two. All of my church choirs sing this song as they "march" (walk) down the isle at the beginning of worship. Although we speed the tempo up to about 108, this song is still amazing. THanks for posting!!!!!
I'm having sooo many flashbacks and had NO idea that this was New Jerusalem. I'm from Flint and grew up in First Trinity. We sang this song sooo much, and we never got tired of it.
See...you done took it WAY back! We used to sing this song as a mass choir when I was a child. This is the first song I ever directed, @ age 9. Until now, I NEVER sure of who sang this song (in my mind, I was thinking James Cleveland). Thanks for posting this!
It DOES have a Rev. James Cleveland feel to it. Of course, Rev. Cleveland was HUGE at that time, and gave many artists and composers firsthand inspiration, knowledge, and guidance.
This is a throw back. My home church used to sing this song. You couldn't tell us we weren't jamming. I loved directing this song. My favorite part is Wait on the Lord and be of good courage.
OH YES!!! Our gospel choir used to sing this and they could Sang it! My Grandma loves to tell the story of how the choir didn't want to sing but they sang it one Sunday and the pastor asked them to sing it again. ever since then they fell in love with it.
One of my favorite songs...I remember hearing this in revivals when I was a child...this song just goes to show, you don't have to have a complicated or "urban" sound to reach people's hearts today, because as soon as I heard this, I was ready to shout!
This was our First Sunday Communion song! Boy, people were saved off of songs like this! This was Church! When the mothers sat on one side with their all white, the Deacons were the other, the Nurses in back, and the Ushers had those Blue Outfits! Yes.... Those days were Church!
Yes, now this takes me back to Choir Number 1.... SANG Y'ALL!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!! I actually got the opportunity to direct this one night.... it was on a poppin....
What a load of power. Listen to the crunch of that organ!
