Brilliant, keep it forever. I worked on Tornado prototypes P03, P06 and P08 which sadly crashed and the crew died with it. I went on to do all the systems testing and flight trials on all production aircraft at Bae Warton for the RAF and RSAF.
Ganz, ganz toll was du für deinen Papa da gemacht hast! Respekt. Schön, daß du so mitfühlst und lebst in der Staffel. Wir waren selber Edelweißer. Echt super!
do u know google? its an awesome website to find out things u dont know ;o)
back·seat·er [ bák stər ] (plural back·seat·ers)
noun
Definition:
rear pilot in two-seater warplane: the crew member in the rear seat of a two-seater military aircraft who operates the radio and radar, navigates, and deploys the plane's electronic weapons and defense systems ( slang )
Tthe back seat is also known as a RIO (RADAR Intercept Officer) in US parlance or the WSO (Weapons System Officer) in the RAF. The WSO does all the tactical stuff and deals with the more irritatingly difficult aspects of fighting the aircraft whilst the pilot drives it round the sky. WSOs tend to be present when performing complex bombing tasks or sorting out tough tactical situations. It's hard for a pilot to track a lot of other aircraft or guide weapons whilst also fighting the aircraft.
Luftwaffe Tornado crews were a great bunch of guys - I went to Allgau a few times in the early 90s. This is a great video, I hope your Dad had a successful life after Tornado.
Well, I almost had tears in my eyes. It reminds me of my colleagues and friends back home where I did a different kind of flying for 7 years, gliding, you know segelfliegen (hope i spell it right)as sport. I did my last flight like 4 years ago so this video was kind of touching for me. Cheers
Schönes Video. Hab die Freude, dass mein Dad Jetpilot bei der Bundeswehr war. War für ihn ein sehr trauriger Moment, wo er das letzte mal die "Gelbe Treppe" hinunter gestiegen ist. Also mein Beileid an deinen Dad ;)
good video
