@12bZero in ancient cultures, you don't mess with the messenger, they're supposed to be sacrosanct. when he was sent out, they probably thought he was going to be safe and just discover the enemies' demands, but as soon as he saw that it was Baal leading them, he knew he was dead, that's why the look back as the door is closing and the sigh of acceptance.

@Coldwatercavs01 WoW sucked, other categories I agree. WoW was where Blizzard chose greed over good game-play. They still had excellent story writing and generally talented people working on the game but no new ideas. DAOC had much better gameplay than WoW. Was sad to see the one-dimensional 2-realm system with endless PvE.

Marius is an observer who was unfortunate enough to get caught up in the story. As such, while the player is searching high and low for Diablo in order to stop him, Marius is actually traveling with him, and sees events that the player only heard of from others (like Baal's escape, or Diablo entering Hell). You only see the aftermath of the things he talks about.
