  • dammit...all this while ive been doing pushups with my arms spread out :(

  • nice house

  • Wish I would have watch this video a week ago. I'm currently nursing a rotator cuff inflammation from incorrectly doing a pushup-a girl pushup at that. Had my elbows out to far I guess...

  • all good stuff, physio does similar things

  • ;L I found myself doing 80 a day in 1 set the wrong way, thanks for this vid man, can do around 35 at a time at the moment..

  • I want to replace that 3 - year top comment so thumbs up to make it possible.

  • Thanks now I re

  • Can you show a pushup for beginners. I am just starting out and can't go all the way down, is this o.k. Something for women

  • @magisana - I posted a video response for the feminine version of how to build push up strength.

  • @drgratale - How many times a week do you do these push ups I will appreciate it alot if u can let me know. thank you

  • TY!

  • thats one way of doing pushups but there are many different ways of doing pushups! there are elbows in push ups hands wide (obviously elbows wont be right near your body for these) theres the arms straight out in front, and many more! they aren;t wrong just different

  • @sh9683 Thanks for the comment and you are right that there are many ways to do push ups. The point of the video is that the wide hand technique is accepted as the most popular and most instructed way to do them. I have seen many shoulder injuries as a result of this and just wanted to point out that doing them with a closer grip protects the shoulders and activates the chest muscles better.

  • There are many variations of push ups. The variation you said is "wrong" works your upper chest and the front part of your deltoid, it's not "wrong" but shouldn't be the only type of push up you perform.

If you only perform that type of push up then yes it can cause a rotator cuff injury but it shouldn't be left out completely. Do several variations and you'll be fine.

  • thoughs excercises never hurt me unless i do many repeats. you people should do other excercises to get your body ready for this intense stuff. i started doing pushups on my knees there is no shame in that you are protecting your body until it can handle more strain. no pain no gain, i never over exserted myself. i always stopped when it started to hurt shook it off and started again. so dont take him so literally he is just trying to protect us and if it does hurt always start from your knees

  • Nice explaining on how to do it, but i'm afraid i can't do most of them.

Just because of my weak wrists. The only push-up i do is the normal

one but then on my fists.

  • yes sir, you are absolutely correct.

  • good stuff man

  • ok, what about diomand push ups? military? wide front? theres many ways and types of push ups..

  • "if you feel pain stop immediately" wtf? no pain, no gain.

  • @cornflaker We're talking about injury or joint pain. Of course you should feel some lactic acid burn in the belly of your muscles when strength training, but the old no pain no gain has hurt alot of people who think it always has to hurt to be effective.

  • i wana get my chest bigger i do 200 pushups everynight is that enought or should i do more??

  • @harmnab 2x it and that should be good

  • WOW! Thanx so much, this video helped soooo much! :)

  • no wonder my front deltoids are like the biggest muscle on my upper body... :|

  • heey,

    very nice video.

but, when i do this i realy feel it hard in my sholders, well if i do any pushup i feel it hard in my sholders, no pain pain, but pain for training it, good pain:)

but i don't realy feel it in my chest, so idk if i'm training it?

  • @kwaad777 Your shoulders are probably the weak link in this movement. Keep up the form though and they'll get stronger and then you'll feel it more in the chest.

  • thank you

  • it really hurts that way i broke my wriste

  • Simple fix - The Perfect Pushup apparatus (Target) or a pair of hexagon dumbells. It will put your wrist in neutral position and then you may be able to complete comfortably.

Hope ya didn't hurt it too bad. Good luck.

  • but... aren't the wrists going to take a beating ? :0 joint pain is very dangerous?

  • ,ive started doing this and i've hd wrist pain for 2 weeks now :@

  • Whats the best form of push up that works the chest?

  • theres many different ways to do pushups for workingout different parts of the upper body.

  • thank you

  • bro that was perfect! i just put that in my favorite file on my computer.

  • my problem is that when i go down, my stomach goes down but my chest doesnt.

    ANY HELP?

  • that was my problem lol

  • that is not a problem, u did the right thing. if ur chest goes down first, then its considered foul because when ur whole body is straight, the stomach touches the ground because its closert 2 the ground compared to ur chest. unless someone wanted to strain themselves by pushing all the way to the ground, then its up 2 them

  • Your talking BS unless you have no toes. If you stand prone on your hands and toes, and go down in a straight line, your chest should be touching the ground first.

  • Keep your back straight. If you can't, try to stick your ass in the air just a litle bit. If you still can't do it, you must train your core (abbs and lower back).

  • tense your stomach. Contract it as much as you can. This will make sure your body stays straight as you lower.

  • Yes, don´t be so fat

  • thanks for correcting my pushups.

  • Thank you. I knew I was doing something wrong. 5 stars for it being very relevant and informative.

  • How often should you do these oushups daily? every other day? and how many sets and reps should you do to see results?

  • There is no wrong way to do pushups, there are only different variations. Different hand positions and different paces work different muscle groups each in a different way.

    Variation is the key.

  • wow your rich

  • surely its not just wrong, just a different way?

p.s. u got hardcore muscle stamina.

  • Right - a different , more effective and less injury inducing way! With exercise, nothing is written in stone, try everything and see what works for you. Thanks

  • Wow this guy is good. Talking while performing variations without stopping. Good person to learn from.

  • how do you keep your back straight

  • just train and remember to breth in and out ( in when you reach down and out when you go up)

  • the last one he did was yoga! been doing that in my yoga class. cooool

  • Thanks man i knew i had been doing something wrong. No wonder my shoulders hurt after i ddi push ups. Good thing i found your video in time, i only started execrising a week ago.

  • i new i was doing it wrong..felt funny the way i was doing it

  • Well no wonder my shoulders were getting more toned where as the rest of my torso was staying the same lol. 5 out 5 stars.

  • doing push ups like this i managed to get to about 40... it really feels good using the proper technique

  • Whoa this is way harder than the way I've been doing it. I thought I was great doing 50ish but nope, couldn't do much more than 25 this way.

  • damn i was doing it wrong for like a year now ,i usuly do 50 without stoppin my way

but when i tried this i did 21 and i was done

  • bleh, i've been doing them the wrong way for years. I do them with my elbows out and my shoulders pop a lot as I go up.

  • Yep- for me its the elbow, the wrist, AND the shoulder that pops. Sounds kinda like a freshly poured bowl of rice krispies and milk....SNAP-CRACKLE-POP!

  • i used to get a hell of alot of pain in my wrist when i first started doin push ups with or without my push up bars. i dnt get that much pain any more even tho i'm still doin the same as always. hav i gotten used to the pain? or is it normal to feel pain at first

  • Dude, I could only do 9 proper push ups..before I could do like 30 to 40 doing it the wrong way lol.

  • I could barely do 3 proper push ups!!!! I usually always do 10 to 20 the 'wrong' way. . . No wonder my chest has never gotten any stronger! Wow! :D

  • same here

  • thanx dude i reallly needed this =D

  • great video.

  • I still think I'm doing it wrong. :/

  • hey thnx dude!

  • help i dont get the burn while doing push ups does that mean im doing somthing wrong? i try to do as many as possible!

  • that means its working

  • shitt... iv been doin it rong all this tyme lol. bac to drawing boared. But surely if u feel the burn doest it mean its wrking in some way?

  • it's working, but not the right parts. As he said, it's supposed to work your frontal deltoids and pecs. If you did it the wrong way, (the way I did it 5 months ago), you will feel burning in some other places. I just can't remember :]

  • I was thinking how much should i do these pushups?. i get around 25 of these correct pushups in one round.

  • im a basketball player and i try to do 100 pushups a day. not in 1 go but in sets at a time. if youre a beginner your triceps will be very sore for many days. thats good because you know its the correct technique

  • dude, this helps a lot, I've been doing daily push-ups for 6 years now, I done it in many variations, but these tricks will definitely help me to gain muscles way faster than until now

  • nice pool.

  • You inhale when you go down, and you exhale when you're pushing yourself up.Makes sense doesn't it?

  • the routine at 2:34,,,,which parts of body is that for,,he didnt mention i think....

  • lolz for almost 8 years I've been wondering why my shoulders hurt so much ROFL. cheers for upload budy.

  • but the pain is good,

the pain means your still alive

  • hey tell us 'bout the breathing..when 2 exhale n inhale?

  • Nice to know iv been doing them wrong for about a year lol

  • LMao, well now you can try the right form :p

  • Wow, he's doing them like it's nothing...he didn't even like rest during the whole vid.

  • just try i the whole rountine!!!

burn like hell on my body. but love the feel!!! thanks for the upload!!!

  • i going to try this!!!!

  • ...ohhhhhhhhh.

thnx man, i've been doing them kinda wrong lately...

  • I've been doing it wrong all along haha?

  • WELL DONE GOODWORKOUT,KEITH

  • thanks!

  • thanks for the tips. will use

  • thanks very much

please post more this kind of vedio

  • wow this is really helpful for people who never took physical fitness courses. Thanks for the video, now my brother knows what he was doing wrong, he dint believe me but he believed this guy. Awesome.

  • Way to go, bro. Keep working the moves to get results!

  • Thanks bro!

You look amazing btw, how long have you been working out?

  • The first portion of the video is subjective. There are several techniques that comes with push ups. Wide grip, close grip and diamond grip. Wide grip works out your shoulders, chest, abdominal and triceps. However, the major muscle is the shoulder. Close grip is mainly for chest and tricep and diamond is triceps. There is nothing wrong with doing push ups the wide way...It works out your shoulders. If you think I'm wrong, let me know and I can go into details.

  • Doing them wide is fine for variation for a more advanced trainer, but I've seen enough torn and damaged rotator cuffs in my 23 years of practice to know that most untrained individuals, and even those with intermediate training under their belts, get better development from the pec stimulating closer grip while avoiding injury.

Naturally, the more variations performed the better overall development, but it is better to build a foundation without injury first.

  • no this guy is wrong u can do the puch ups the other way the way he tells you to do is the pushup you use for your trisep and your lower chest the way people normally do works the bisep and the side chest with the upper chest

  • Incorrect. The super close grip works triceps. The one demonstrated stimulates the pecs fully in the power groove of motion. Biceps are an antagonist muscle in push ups and are worked in that role only and not as a prime mover.

  • Dam I Jus Feel SO Stupid Cuz I Waznt Doin Ma pushUpz Rite... I Waz Wonderin Why My Muscles Waznt Growin.. LoL

  • yea

  • i just wanna know if that method word quikly!! to grow my muscul or it waste time for nothing!!pls who know the answer ,tell me the reason as possible !! so long !!!

  • thats soooooooooooooooooooo easy

  • great excercise guide.
